SlidR
SlidR is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
A take on a ‘sliding’ puzzle game, SlidR takes a photo, divides into square segments, and forces it upon you, the mighty adventurer, to slide the photo to correctness before the evil dragon* destroys your village and the helpless peasants.
The app has a slick, clean interface and a variety of high quality pics to choose from. An especially clever feature was the option to provide your own photos from your album or camera roll, as some pictures make a substantially more interesting puzzle than others.
For a dollar, this app is a worthy investment for those searching for a casual puzzler, something to idly whittle away battery life on your iPhone or iPod Touch. As an added bonus, a couple of codes were graciously provided by the dev, Critical Fever, so a few lucky ones can save a dollar and spent on something less epic.
*Dramatization. There is no dragon, evilness, villages or peasants. However, you are still a mighty adventurer. And you still get a picture of an elephant’s rear end, so that kind of makes up for it. I guess.

iToons
iToons is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Have you ever had that strange craving for your favorite comic, but not had a newspaper nearby? Or have you been stuck in a plane/train/car with nothing to do? Well if you love comics, then iToons is the app for you! At only $.99, this at developed by Brite systems Inc is a steal considering it has a library of 34 different comics ranging from Adam At Home to Ziggy. Although some of my favorite comics like Pearls Before Swine and Dilbert were missing from the list, there were many great ones like BC, Garfield, and Cathy. The set up of the app is very simple and easy to use. You go into settings, and just flip the on/off switch next to the desired comics you want to read. I did have some problems with the app. Some of the comics were longer than the iPhone screen, so you had to scroll back and forth. It would have been better if the app could have made it so that you can view the comic panel by panel. That way you could slide to each panel as if viewing photos. Also at the end of the comic, have a button where you can go back to the home page (the current version has the button at the starting of the comic, so you have to scroll all the way back to view another comic. Another problem was that I could only view one comic of each title per day. For people who only like a few of the selected titles could easily get bored. It would be better if access to an archive of previous comics was available. On the flip side of that, the app doesn’t present you with just any random comic strip from that title. iToons updates the title with that day’s comic, so you are always reading the most recent one. So if you are a comic-holic, look into investing $.99 to buy iToons. Trust me, your $.99 was worth spent.

Where’s Waldo? The Fantastic Journey
Where’s Waldo? The Fantastic Journey is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Imagine a game with pictures straight out of your favorite childhood picture finding book. Now combine that with the technology of an iPhone and the great game play from Ludia. Add a some cute music, bundle it all together and you get Where’s Waldo? The Fantastic Journey. This app is a Where’s Waldo book with some extras. The game is set up as an adventure game where you follow Waldo, Whitebeard the Wizard, Wendy, and other characters through a journey to collect the 12 mystical scrolls. When you collect all 12 scrolls, Whitebeard the Wizard will reveal to Waldo an important secret that Waldo has been searching for. At the starting you can choose normal game play or kids. The kids version is noticeably easier as it will make sure the item/person you are looking for is always in the area it brings you (in other words, you don’t have to move the screen view around). The first few levels are tutorials and guide you through the game play. Each level is basically set up the same: you get the entire screen open to search for the characters, then you get parts of the picture sectioned off to help you locate some items. Your companion, Spot, will provide you with hints if you are ever stuck. What made this game interesting was that they also had some items marked with a diamond or star. The diamond would lead you exactly to where one of the hidden items are, and the star would present a mini game where you catch the stars to try and obtain a perfect score. At the end of each level, you get ranked based on speed. You can get 1-5 stars. As you make your way through the game, you meet more of Waldo’s friends and enemies and face more challenges. The only down side of the otherwise great game is that you can’t zoom in/out. I found that using only your finger and the small screen of your iPhone was a bit challenging to locate some things and would have liked to be able to pinch and zoom in or out so that I could see more of the picture at once. Where’s Waldo is currently $2.99, so if you are looking for a fun app to kill time or something to keep your child occupied during a car trip, you should definitely get this app.

Scene It? Movies
Scene It? Movies is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Overall Rating: 3.46 out of 5 stars
The Scene It? franchise is hardly limited to your television set. It’s had numerous incarnations with different themes on different platforms, and the original Scene It? has finally arrived on the App Store! Phew. Now we don’t have to look at sparkly vampires to get our Scene It? fix. (Yes, Scene It? Twilight, I’m looking at you—why’d you come out before this one?) In Scene It? Movies, your knowledge of contemporary movies is tested through a lengthy string of trivia questions, which come in a myriad of forms. It’s fun and the variety of question types is great, but a lack of gameplay options and a limited number of questions and movies coupled with constant advertisements means that the fun wears off quickly.
You have two options in Scene It? Movies: a regular solo game or “Movie Pass.” In solo mode, the game fires a series of trivia questions at you. Not only do you have to get them right to earn points, but you also earn bonus points based on how long it takes you. (Now if only there was an integrated high score board…oh, well.) There really is a lot of variety when it comes to question types. Some are straight-up multiple choice, while others will ask you to put movies in order of release or to match different actors and actresses up based on who they played. Mini-games are present, too. In one, you have to find the “correct ticket” out of dozens on screen. In another, you have to guess the movie based on a kid’s sketch or a pixel-art animation. My favorite part is when the app plays a video clip and quizzes you mercilessly afterward—watching clips from favorite movies like Forest Gump is great, and the quality is excellent because they’re stored within the app.
The movies are relatively recent—mostly from the past decade or two. Paramount and Universal movies seem to be the only ones included. The variety is pretty good, but unfortunately it grows stale after a while as there’s a finite amount of content. While updates might bring more movies and questions in the future, I wouldn’t count on it; I’d expect Screenlife to release another themed app (ahem, Twilight) or DLC packs instead.
Can you guess? It’s the Joker from the Dark Knight!
“Movie Pass” mode is a cross between solo mode and a game of hot potato. Yes, I’m serious, so you need to make sure your friends are either careful with your iDevice or that you’ve got a solid case for the thing. In this so-called multiplayer mode, players take turns holding your iPhone or iPod. When it’s your turn, you keep getting questions (similar to the ones in solo mode) until you get one right, at which point you pass it to the next player. A secret timer goes off “randomly,” and whoever’s holding the iDevice is out. Unfortunately, without anyway to see what the other person is answering, it’s not as fun in a group setting as the board game would be, and there are no options whatsoever. So, for example, if you’re playing with a huge group, the person in fourth or fifth place is likely to get knocked out just because the timer doesn’t vary that much. The game needs a better, more participatory multiplayer/party mode. Not only is the current one a bit lackluster, but some of us don’t like to risk our precious electronics in a game of hot potato!
Here’s my biggest gripe of all, however: the constant push to buy the featured movies, either through Amazon or iTunes. This wouldn’t annoy me normally (hey, advertising is everywhere, folks) but the “Buy Movie” button is exactly where you think the “go to next question” button should be. A banner ad or two would be fine, but having the constant trick there for every single question gets annoying.
Scene It? Movies is actually a decent port of the franchise. The format translates well, and many of the questions take advantage of the iPhone’s unique characteristics. But I just couldn’t get into it. Without a group of friends to enjoy the game with (and by “enjoy” I don’t mean throwing my iPod at each other), it just isn’t as fun. Besides that, having to constantly remind myself to NOT push the “Buy Movie” button was annoying, and the questions themselves get old after a few playthroughs, even if there’s a good amount of data bundled with the app. Fans of the franchise will probably have a lot of fun, but other will find that the shine quickly wears away.
iFormulas – Review
iFormulas – Review is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
I received a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics a long time ago, and if the iPod Touch and the App Store existed when I was getting it, iFormulas would have been a very handy application to have. Quite simply, it is a listing of many, many mathematical formulas used in various math and physics equations. It’s not every formula in existence (it leans more towards math equations than physics), but the description states that new ones will be added in each upgrade.
Truthfully, this isn’t so much a…Read More

Q&F: Braineo
Q&F: Braineo is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Recently, I downloaded the free app Braineo by Veriunique Productions, Inc. It is a fun memory game. The object seemed simple enough: study the picture, answer the questions, and get points. However, I soon learned it was harder than I thought. The questions were rather specific such as, “What color was the largest light bulb?” I aced the first couple of rounds, but my score started to go down the drain when I reached the more complex pictures. Every time I got a question wrong, a panda head would pop up and taunt me with phrases such as, “Your IQ is a negative integer.” After completing 18 questions, the panda prompts you to pay $.99 to have access to the other 11 levels. Although I would have liked the game to have a few more free levels, the game was fun and satisfactory.

mPassport Paris Keeps You Alive in the City of Lights
mPassport Paris Keeps You Alive in the City of Lights is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Price: Free (limited time) Score: 9/10 By Steve Beaudry![]()
mPassport Paris by HTH Worldwide is one of the more useful apps in the App Store. If you’re on your way to Paris and are concerned about your health, this app will tell you where to find doctors, what medicine is equivalent in France to what you’re taking, and how to translate symptoms you’re having into French. Currently, the mPassport app is only available for Paris, but they also have a subscription-based web interface for the entire world. Presumably, Paris is the first stop in making medical apps for a number of international cities.
When you open the app, you can see right off the bat how useful it’s going to be for your medical needs. Say you have an unusual cough and would like to see a doctor about it. The very first button you see is “Request Appointment,” which takes you to a list of doctor specialties, and then the doctor offices themselves, and then the info such as phone number (which you can tap to call) and address (for which there is a map). It’s really just as easy as that!
Also, if you run out of some medicine there is a drug equivalency guide. With this guide you can scroll to whatever medicine it is you’re missing and find out the French name for it. You can also scroll to French names and find out their English counterpart. I don’t think I really have to tell you how useful this is for someone who doesn’t speak French!
There are also Emergency Service numbers, Hospital locations and Pharmacy locations. This app wins for being that comprehensive in its goal to provide medical information to the Parisian traveler. But there’s even more. Down at the bottom of the home page there is a button labeled Medical Translations, and, for me, this is where the app really shines. There are two choices: either medical phrases or medical terms. If you’re looking for a single word to translate, you want terms, but if you go into phrases you can find a wealth of common phrases relating to medical wellbeing and care along with their written French translation and if you tap on the translation you can hear an attractive female voice speaking the phrase. So, if you have a medical problem, you don’t even have to speak French – just get out you iPhone with mPassport Paris. Although, it does take a minute to find “I need a doctor quickly.”
A Location tab shows you a GPS-enabled map with pins for nearby doctors and pharmacies, a Recents tab shows you what you’ve been looking at recently within the app, and a Saved tab shows you those things which you’ve marked as your favorite. This app gets high marks for usefulness and human welfare, but one drawback keeps it from a full 10 – it’s only useful if you’re going to Paris (and to a lesser extent, France).
mPassport Paris requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later and is compatible with both iPhone and iPod Touch.
