iCooking Italian Cuisine – Food, Wine, Life (Cibo, Vino, Vita)
iCooking Italian Cuisine – Food, Wine, Life (Cibo, Vino, Vita) is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Price: $0.99 Score: 9/10 By Nancy Jones![]()
It’s been a long day; you are at the grocery store and have no idea what to prepare for dinner. If that sounds familiar then iCooking Italian Cuisine, developed by Apps of All Nations, LLC, could be the answer to your culinary prayers. Whether you choose something easy to prepare, like Pasta with Pesto, or are feeling a bit more adventurous and decide to make Tagliatelle with Steak, you will not be disappointed with this app.
With fifty-two recipes to choose from, iCooking Italian Cuisine has a lot to offer. The recipes are organized by dish type and you’ll find recipes for appetizers, pasta, risotto, meat and fish and desserts. The hard part is deciding which one will be your first. On the other hand, you can skim down the list of all recipes and be inspired by recipes both familiar and new. There is also one more feature to add to the mix - you can even enter your own recipes, complete with ingredients and steps to prepare.
With iCooking Italian Cuisine you’ll never be at the grocery store again saying, “I would make that dish but I can’t remember what goes in it?” Once you choose your recipe, you can mark it as a favorite and it will be a snap to find when you are shopping for ingredients. You can search for recipes in the comfort of home, riding the train to work or while eating lunch. You can email the recipe to yourself (or a friend). This can be handy if you prefer to use a printed copy as you cook. I like to check off ingredients as I cook, so a print out was a big hit with me.
Earlier today I was looking through my pile (actually piles) of recipes and the good news is that now I can enter these recipes into the app – a great feature that helps you save both space and paper! I’ll have the great recipes in iCooking Italian Cuisine, and my own favorites as well. You could enter all of your recipes into one app, or chose any one of the other 14+ by this developer.
I love Italian food and the three little words that I want you to whisper in my ear are pizza, pasta and bruschetta. Choosing a recipe to test from this app wasn’t easy – they all looked so tasty. I decided to branch out a little and do something that wasn’t in my favorite trio. I made Chicken Rollatini and I’m glad that I did! It wasn’t a particularly complex recipe; all you need to do is roll chicken breasts with cheese and prosciutto. A little bread crumbs, a few spices, some wine and dinner is served!
This is my fifth review of an iCooking app. During this time I’ve seen updates come through so I know these apps will improve as time goes by. I’ve passed on, through my reviews, my wish list for improvements or innovations. As I use the apps more and more, I have fewer suggestions for improvement. I have suggested a formal grocery list, but the ingredient list serves nicely. A search feature would be handy, but it’s still pretty easy to scroll through the 52 recipes. The only wish (not quite a need) that I’ve discovered is that I would like to share my recipes with friends who also use the app. I can still email them, but it would be fun to send my recipe to their app.
If you are looking for an affordable, easy to use recipe app then iCooking Italian Cuisine is likely to be a favorite.
iCooking Italian Cuisine is compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch and requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later.
Compression
Compression is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Day 1: This was meant to be a simple trip to the TanZen convention, but I believe the directions that guy gave us at the last gas station were inaccurate. After wild Pentanimals trashed our cars, we were forced to run away on foot, my mom clutching her most valuable possessions. We seem to have stumbled into a cavern filled with cube-like, hollow colored rocks. Mom wants to make this our camp. She already started unpacking her porcelain little white bear collection, so there is no stopping her now.
Day 2: A red cube rock fell from the ceiling, nearly crushing Mom. She placed the block onto a column with two other red blocks and they disappeared.
Day 3: One of the walls just moved closer to me. Mom doesn’t believe me.
Day 4: More rocks falling from the ceiling. We’ve resorted to piling them up in a corner.
Day 5: Some more rocks disappeared. There seems to be a difference between hollow rocks and the solid ones. Mom finished unpacking her porcelain white bear collection.
Day 6: The wall moved again! This time, it was the left one. I’m trying to convince Mom that we should go, but she’s adamant about staying.
Day 7: It’s getting cramped in here. Those blocks are still falling from the sky. One of them crushed Mom’s portrait of Dr. Mario, and she’s been in a frenzy ever since, throwing blocks against each other.
Day 8: Success. Mom realized that if you piled blocks of the same color on top of each other or next to each other, they would disappear. Mom has been using the new space we got to build a habitat for her porcelain white bears, complete with a water feature and breeding grounds. I’ve been using this free time writing a very stern letter to those people at Little White Bear Studios. I think this situation I’m in has something to do with them.
Day 9: The left wall moved again, smashing some of Mom’s white bears. In another frenzy, she’s been piling more blocks together. I realized that you could rotate blocks in mid flight, and I’ve been trying to rid ourselves of the hollow blocks (Mom was planning on using them to make a latrine for the white bears – this has gone too far).
Day 10: After removing all the hollow blocks, the cavern cleared up. We are about to make a run for it, but Mom could not bear (cringe worthy pun not intended) leaving behind her collection. The hollow rocks have piled up again. Mom has started talking to her white bears. She’s been raving on about how this was like her honeymoon with Dr. Mario a few years ago. I’ve been planning my escape.
——-
To sum it up, Compression is another solid, fun offering from Little White Bear Studios. The controls were slightly goofy at first, but after some practice they revealed to be intuitive and graceful, flicks of my finger controlling the falling blocks.
The OpenFeint leaderboard allows you to compare how many levels you’ve completed to other cave-dwellers around the world.
For fans of the original retro Dr. Mario style game play, or just casual gamers wanting a quick, action packed fix, Compression is a good choice to shed a dollar on.

Flipsy FREE Flipping In The Right Direction
Flipsy FREE Flipping In The Right Direction is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Flipsy FREE iPhone app by myNewApps.com is a puzzle game played on a 3d board that allows you to flip and rotate the board in order to line up your colorful puzzle blocks and score points. The board is able to rotate both clockwise and counter-clockwise 90 degrees at a time. When you elect to flip the board it simply flops upside down 180 degrees.
When you flip and rotate your Flipsy Free board you cause your puzzle blocks to constantly change the configuration causing them to line up differently each time. By matching like colors you are able to score points. The grey blocks can keep you from lining up a color strand but the Lava blocks can destroy they grey ones. There are also Joker blocks that are wild and by tapping on them you can use them as the color needed for that strand.
Flipsy offers readily available game hints during play as well as the game standard options of music and sounds. The colors and graphics of the game are superb and the flipping and rotating provide for some strategy and thinking ahead that many games frequently lack.
Flipsy is offered in 2 versions, the free version and the $.99 version. The free version is limited to the first 10 levels and is advertised as your opportunity to try before you buy. I tested the free version and while I found it to be fun and somewhat challenging, I also discovered it to be a bit easy. My suggestion would be if you are into puzzle games and think you might like it I’d head directly to the paid version. If you’re not sure you want to spend a buck up front, try out the free version and give it a try.
Much like the recently reviewed Gyrotate, Flipsy offers a nice change to some of the more popular puzzle apps. For puzzle enthusiasts looking for a little something different to add to their repitoire of fun, Flipsy FREE iPhone app by myNewApps.com offers a unique spin, or shall I say flip, to the game.

Sand Garden Achieves Visual Zen
Sand Garden Achieves Visual Zen is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
For those who appreciate the blissful relaxation of Japanese rock gardens and can also appreciate the virtual translation of such a utopian art, then check out Pavel Doichev’s latest app Sand Garden. Released only a few weeks ago, but buried beneath hundreds of other new releases, Sand Garden is a three dimensional sand garden complete with customization options to make your Zen garden a reflection of you.
Sand Garden is a simplistic app that is very beautifully rendered in realistic 3D graphics. Choices include sand color along with rock type, shape, color and polish, as well as lighting options. Choose from an array of vibrant colored sands or basic white sand and use it as a background for the placement of a polished granite or marble rock. Resize the rock or reposition it to your liking. Select tools from a simple stick to a few different rakes that leave different patterns in the sand. Experiment with lighting, including candlelight, to achieve the perfect balance of shadow and light.
All in all, Sand Garden is very aesthetic from a visual standpoint. It does a nice job of capturing and recreating the experience of raking sand and is simply quite lovely to look at. The only downfall is a lack of sound. You can play music from your library as you experiment and build your garden, but including either a complimenting loop of Japanese-style music or a collection of relaxing sound effects like waves, chimes, or rain would have sent Sand Garden over the top in terms of achieving true Zen.
Auditory shortcomings aside, Sand Garden is a visual treat. The options available to create a customized rock garden aren’t incredibly varied, but are impressive enough to make it pleasing. If you enjoy all things Zen and grasp the concept of trying to achieve balance and harmony in the construction of things, then give Sand Garden a look. It’s priced right and could fill a few moments of down time with a bit of relaxation, plus allows you to create unique wallpaper by taking screenshot pictures.
