Ragdoll Blaster 2 hit the app store a few days ago, and wow, is it one heck of an upgrade. Backflip Studios really stepped up to the plate in bringing new life into their Ragdoll series. The visual upgrades of this physics based sequel are evident as soon as you turn the game on. The polish of this title is evident, from start to finish.

Ragdoll Blaster 2 is a refreshing upgrade over the games largely popular predecessor. Gone are the doodle style graphics, instead there is a clean machinist style environment complete with various traps, doors, buttons, and puzzles. This does take the graphical appeal in another direction, but I don’t imagine anyone is feeling a shortage of doodle games in the app store.

With the inclusion of Plus+, you’ll be looking for the quickest way to shoot the poor defenseless cute little ragdoll into the target, ensuring a lower score then your friends. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be enjoying every minute of it as well.

The outstanding tutorial brings you right back into the simplistic and overly addicting game style. If this is your first time playing the ragdoll series, the learning curve is easy to master. The game mechanics are simple… aim your cannon; shoot a ragdoll, hit the target, move on to the next level, rinse, repeat. You’ll be greeted throughout the game with increasingly challenging obstacles in your path, making it necessary to use multiple ragdolls to achieve victory.

The game is broken down into specific rooms. Each room has a certain number of levels, and achievements are gained each time an entire room is completed. Each level provides a unique set of challenges to overcome. The game is certainly not easy, but there is a real since of accomplishment as you make your way through one of the over 150 levels available in Ragdoll Blaster 2. Trust me, there is plenty of game to play for your small investment.

There is an element of repetitiveness that comes from a puzzle game such as this though. There are plenty of bells and whistles to keep even the casual puzzle enthusiast interested, but if you are lukewarm in your interest of puzzle games, there is a slight chance you won’t find hours of continued entertainment from Ragdoll Blaster 2. Fortunately, Ragdoll’s game mechanics lends itself nicely to quick spurts of gaming, so the repetition and longevity won’t wear you out all in one sitting.

While the game play is similar to its predecessor, the overall feel of Ragdoll Blaster 2 provides a somewhat different experience. If you failed to check out the first title, you can see our review of that game here. You won’t need it to fully enjoy Ragdoll Blaster 2, but you’ll be missing out on another great title from Backflip studios. If you have the slightest interest in physics based puzzle games, Ragdoll Blaster 2 is an extremely high quality option, and one that you’ll be coming back to time and again.

EA Announces Skateboarding Sim Skate It is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

skateit2

As the once-dominant Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise entered a steep decline on consoles, Electronic Arts picked up the slack with Skate, an innovative skateboarding title featuring a unique control scheme and emphasis on realism. The game won over extreme sports fans bored with the Tony Hawk series, spawning a console sequel and a spin-off title, Skate It, for the Nintendo Wii and DS.

EA announced today that it will bring Skate It to the App Store in May, complete with an overhauled control scheme suited to the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Skate It will use a gesture-based control system for skate tricks, allowing players to pull off ollies, grabs, and kickflips using finger swipes and flicks. The iPhone must be tilted to maintain balance during manuals and grinds, which can be used to link tricks into high-scoring combinations.

Skate It will feature a single-player campaign, a skate park construction mode, and a replay recording option when it launches in the App Store in May.

Dreamwalk is a Bargain Hunter’s Dream is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

dreamwalk iphoneJust released this week, Dreamwalk is touted as “the mobile treasure hunt” and in essence, that’s pretty much what it is. It sort of equates to commercialized geocaching, but it’s really a pretty simple concept.

Dreamwalk uses GPS technology to show users where prizes, or “treasure,” is waiting to be discovered. If you decide you want to don your pirate hat and go in search of said treasure, you can use your iPhone as the treasure map and claim a prize of your own. A first of its kind, Dreamwalk has the potential to revolutionize mobile marketing while giving bargain hunters and freebie lovers a whole new experience.

If you’re wondering where the prizes come from, they are supplied by the various participating businesses. The current estimate of available prizes is a couple of thousand across the US, ranging from free fries and coffee to video cameras and a Nintendo Wii. Still in its early stages, developers at Dreamwalk Pty. Ltd. are setting the stage for more and more businesses to get involved and grow the number of available prizes.

This particular feat shouldn’t be difficult to accomplish given that businesses can quickly upload prizes to Dreamwalk’s global map through the Dreamwalk website, and offering something for nothing is a great way to get customers in the door.(…)

Just for the record is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

iPhone App Reviews.net does not charge for reviews. We used to offer an unsolicited paid option called “POV” (meaning that we weren’t actively fishing for paying developers) but that has been discontinued.

The reason I’m bringing this up is that I recently got this email from an apparently angry spectator:

—–Original Message—–
Subject: iPhone App Reviews: Thanks

How I found iPhone App Reviews:

http://lonelysandwich.com/post/420825330/iphoneappreview-shakedown

Message:

…for demonstrating the fastest way to drop to absolute zero credibility.

The website featured in that “shakedown” is NOT the one you’re looking at right now. See, this website is called iPhone App Reviews.net… that’s “reviews” plural, as in more than one, and it’s .net not .com, and we don’t use “the” in our URL. I know a lot of iPhone website names sound similar, but if you ever read about an iPhone app review website charging for reviews it won’t be us.

“Thanks”,
Michael

P.S. Kudos to Sandwich Dynamics on the hilarious reply to the shakedown!

Dunnit! is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Developer: Runloop
Price: $4.99
Version Reviewed: 1.0.1

iPhone Integration Rating: 4.25 out of 5 stars
User Interface Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Re-use / Replay Value Rating: 4.75 out of 5 stars

Overall Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

I am typically not a fan of To-Do list apps, or really productivity apps at all. I can’t even get into the habit of using calendars. It’s not that I have no use for them, I just don’t like having even more things run my life. I like waking up in the morning to my alarm with the idea that anything at all could happen. I realize that every weekday is about the same, but the fact that something random might just happen makes me want to keep my schedule free.

IMG_0916There are some things though that need to get done every day. I know they need to get done, and I usually do them on my own, but something about having a task stare me in the face makes me want to finish it that much more. I really do see the value of a To-Do list, I just have never found one that really makes me want to keep using it.

Dunnit! may have broken the cycle though, with a To-Do list that offers something that no other list app has ever offered, OpenFeint. OpenFeint, for those of you who aren’t aware, is a social gaming platform that keeps track of achievements in apps. For instance, if you kill a certain amount of enemies with head shots in a shooter, you might get a “Head Shot Champ” trophy. The trophies don’t actually do anything, but they are typically a fun way to add some extra gameplay into an app. Openfeint in Dunnit! works the same way, giving you trophies like “No slouch” for completing 10 tasks in a day. The addition of achievements in a productivity app really is a stroke of brilliance.

As for the app itself, it is pretty standard fare for a nice looking To-Do list app. Tasks are added with the standard Apple “+” and are completed by just clicking on the box next to the task. One cool feature I found is that if you click on the “+++” next to the “+”, you can add multiple tasks to a single list. It seems like a dumb addition, but if you are going to the grocery store for a recipe, you can add each item as its own task under the recipe main task. Once created, each task can be titled, given normal or urgent priority, given a completion date, a repeat option, and note, and a tag. The interface is laid out in an easy to read/easy to navigate fashion, with fonts and movements that look native to the iPhone.

If I were to ask for something in a later version, it would be an interface for viewing the lists on your computer. While I like having the list on my phone, it would be nice to be able to check off some of the work tasks without having to open up my phone. With a web viewer, importing tasks into the app would be a breeze. Currently, you can import tasks as log as they are written in the Dunnit! format, but an Evernote style interface would be greatly appreciated.

If you are looking for a new To-Do list app or are just trying to get your life together like myself, Dunnit! really is the way to go. It may not be the most robust To-Do app out there, but it has every option that I need, as well as OpenFeint which will hopefully keep me entertained long enough to become habit forming.

Free iPhone Software You Gonna Wanna Have is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

The iPhonegizmo team have been at it again. Scouring the internet for great free iPhone downloads for you. Our latest collection of goodies is superb – and a bit different!

We put together the four free iPhone downloads that appealed to us – from those that have either been recently released or are among the most popular free iPhone software ever downloaded.

Speedtest.net Speed Test

1) Cool iPhone speed test Speedtest.net  A quick and easy way to check the speed of the internet connection you have on your iPhone. Quite handy – and free.

2)  Project Noah We just love any software that requires world-wide co-operation to bring about some transformational result built on small individual efforts that, combined, makes a massive difference. So we had to include this software. The project is in the beginning phases, but has already spread across the globe. It is simple but powerful. Check it out!

Free iPhone Software - ProjectNoah

The free Project Noah App allows people from around the globe to input locally taken pics (using the iPhone camera) of local wildlife. The idea behind the software is this:

Noah is a tool that nature lovers can use to explore and document local wildlife and a common technology platform that research groups can use to harness the power of citizen scientists everywhere.

Free iPhone Software - ProjectNoah

Noah allows us to discover and document local wildlife. The Project has numerous projects (missions) that we can become involved with. It is even possible to work with research groups and organizations to help gather data. Missions can range from “photographing specific frogs or flowers to tracking migrating birds or invasive species”.

Free iPhone Software - ProjectNoah

Obviously this screams “kids project” – If you are game to let your kids loose in the “wilds” with your iPhone! Of course, increasing numbers of schools have iPod Touches for their students to use. So this free software could be perfect for school projects.

Don’t get me wrong! This app can also be just for fun.

AND  Project Noah app is definitely for adults as well (as the photo of the Leopard above shows). In fact it provides a fantastic opportunity for the urban naturalists, the amateur environmentalists, naturalist photographers and enthusiastic world travelers (to name a few) all to participate in world wide research – and share their love of nature and photography with a world wide audience..

3) CopyTrans Manager. This free software allows users to manage their iPhone media without iTunes. Yes, we thought that would interest you! According to the CopyTrans people, we can

Add songs to …. iPhone without iTunes: drag and drop songs and videos to … iPhone; synchronize…  instantly;

4) Make Free custom Ringtones for iphone – Well this is not really software for downloading. But we decided to include it anyway, because most people spend a small fortune on ringtones when they can make their own – custom ringtones – for free very easily simply using iTunes and the music you have stored there. This smart article will take you through each step.

Don’t thank us – just share!  –>
