Q&F: Touch Pet Dogs
Q&F: Touch Pet Dogs is a post from: Best Iphone App Review Website

I have a dog, so I felt somehow morally obligated to check out Touch Pet Dogs. For starters, ouch on the Touch+ Network signup! Kind of a pain in the ass unless you’re already signed up through some other app.
Once the “game” gets going it’s not too bad, for a while anyway… you select a puppy, play with it in the 3D house environment, and the app will gradually start introducing you to different facets of taking care of your new virtual pet like using toys, bathing, going outside, and feeding. It’s all nicely rendered and the dog’s mannerisms are very cute and if you like virtual pets then you’ll probably think, “hey, this is really cool!”
BUT… based on user reviews in the App Store, feeding is apparently a big bummer because that’s the game’s money making angle… you have to buy food to feed your pet. 10 bowls costs $.99, and you can get quantity discounts if you buy 120 or 400 bowls at a time. You start out with a few bowls of food to begin with but when it runs out you’ll have to cough up some cash and, since it’s food, I guess you’ll have to keep buying for as long as you want to play with your iPhone dog.
I personally haven’t gotten to that point yet because my idiot dog won’t eat, but something about this business model seems messed up. Pay-to-play is a concept most people understand and will gladly do, but the proposition is usually a one-time charge instead of an ongoing cost. Buying 400 bowls of food for your dog costs $29.99 for crying out loud! If you play long enough to go through that 400 bowls and for some insane reason still want to play, you have to keep paying.
ngmoco can run their business however they want and if people don’t like it then they shouldn’t get the app, but I really hope this kind of system doesn’t become a trend. Paying $1 or $5 or even $10 for an app seems fair if the quality is there, but paying continuously like you’re pumping quarters into an arcade game seems a little ridiculous. It doesn’t happen on your Wii or Xbox, and I don’t think it should happen on your iPhone either.
Right now Touch Pet Dogs is ranked #4 among free apps, but unless the revenue model changes I have a hard time seeing it ranked that high for very long. It’s a good quality app, but don’t bother unless you’re onboard with the continuous-pay model.

Crusade of Destiny ($9.99)
Version – 1.1
REVIEW – “This RPG is not for the faint of heart!”
I have played a lot of games in the App Store and “Crusade of Destiny” is one of the most in depth games that I have played. It took me a while to really get a feel for this game, but what I quickly began to realize is that this game will take a long time to finish! If you have been waiting for an in depth 3D RPG for your iPhone or iPod Touch then this game could be exactly what you’ve been looking for.
When you start up this app it takes a few seconds to load and then takes you to the main menu screen. The menu itself looks pretty sharp. I was not a really big fan of the way
the menu works. There are two arrows below the only button to scroll through all of your options. You can start a new game, continue an old one, set up the game options or even get information about this game’s sound track.
Once you decide it’s time to start the game you will be asked to enter your name and then you will be taken to an intro movie if you are starting a new game. When the opening is over you will find yourself inside your own house and your quest starts from here. The graphics in this game are a little “cartoony” in general, but they are
extremely sharp for a phone game.
The controls of the game are pretty basic. You have an “analog stick” in the bottom left corner that you use to move your character, and in the bottom right corner you will have several little circles which are items and abilities that you currently have selected for use. In the upper left corner you will see several meters that represent your health, magic and stamina.
There is also a button in the upper left corner that will take you to an “inventory screen” of sorts. Here you will see all of the items that you have picked up
and/or been given. You have five different screens from here that are listed at the top of the screen. This “inventory screen” allows you to view and edit all kinds of information from what kind of armor you are wearing to what your current quest is supposed to be.
I’ll have to admit that once I started to see what this app was capable of it started to grow on me. This is the kind of game that has the graphics “wow factor,” and has even more value in depth of gameplay if you’re willing to give it enough time to really get into the game. This is not going
to be one of those games that you just pick up once or twice and be good with it.
For the most part I didn’t run into any problems, although I will say that the developers really should look into adding some sort of system for finding out where your next destination is. I did find myself several times trying to figure out exactly where I was. But besides the occasional frustration of trying to figure out where your next goal is, this game is a whole lot of fun, and is definitely worth the download. While $9.99 may seem a little high for an app, the depth of gameplay that this app exhibits will make it worth the money. So what are you waiting for? Check it out in the App Store Today!

Typically, when it comes to 3D graphics and apps that cost more than a dollar, you can count me in. With a price tag like this, along with the promise of some great 3D gameplay, I’m expecting a pretty good game. Unfortunately, I’m just not feeling this app… I mean the 3D graphics suit this genre perfectly, but the gameplay just isn’t very so complete.
Most 3D graphical games these days a very admirable titles from distinguished developers. With the App Store evolving the way it is, the indie iPhone dev’s are now playing their hands in more advanced designs. Remember how successful Pocket God became… the indie developer (Dave Cazz) went from un-noticable to one of the best dev’s around, and still is today. Many indie dev’s are trying as hard as ever to compete with the big devs with advanced 3D titles, but it’s certainly an uphill battle.

Bumpoid, developed and published by Cigra Games, is a bizarrely different 3D space game. Essentially, you’re in space with space-aircraft, and your mission is to get as many points as possible before time runs out. I must warn you about the awkwardness of this game. You start by bumping into other space-craft to get them bouncing around. When you bump into a specific color, you’ll change into that color as well. You mission is to keep bumping into the same color you are, which earns you points. You’ll notice a variety of colored circles on the space-craft(s) that represent the color of them.
My issue with the game is that it can get very bland and boring. I find it hard to stay concentrated for longer than 20-30 minutes at a time. The reason being is that bumping into colored, circled, spacey, octagon-shaped, space-craft just isn’t enough to grab my attention. Doing basically the same task over and over again through 99 levels becomes extremely tedious without much of a reward in return.
For $2.99, the app really isn’t a terrible value, as long as you don’t burn yourself out too quick. You have 99 levels and 3D graphics that genuinely work, so if you are looking for a decent looking time waster, you wouldn’t be doing yourself too much of a disservice by giving this one a shot.

Block Drop is a puzzle game in 3D graphics, already known in its flash version. Recently, the iPhone version has been finally released and it will certainly meet your expectations.
The goal of the game is to eliminate all the blocks while you reach the finishing line: move a water drop located on the blocks, making it jump on them but making sure it does not fall into the water beneath. To direct your drop, you can use the 4 buttons located at the bottom right-hand part of the screen.

3D Tunnel ($2.99)
Version 1.0
REVIEW – “Tunnel vision needed to save your ship”

3D Tunnel is a racing game of sorts. You may not race against opponents, but you will race against a clock at times as you navigate a space ship through a tunnel avoiding the sides and any explosions that occur along the way.
As a beginner player your space ship options are limited, but with play time you can upgrade your ship to make your maneuvering easier. On the easy level working with the basic space ship is fine. Even without high levels of speed or agility, you will be able to get a feel for the game and conquer several levels.
3D Tunnel plops your space ship at the mouth of a tunnel. By tilting your iPhone or iPod Touch side to side and front to back, you can control the movement of your ship. The goal is to make it out the other end of the tunnel. Run into the side of the tunnel and your turn ends. It appears that you can run into the sides briefly or at non-offensive angles and not lose your turn.
The twists and turns of the tunnel can be seen for a second or two before you are forced to weave your way through it. This app is designed well enough that the 3D effect is easy to understand. Even with the rings of these neon tunnels you can easily tell which way to turn or if you need to tilt up or down.
3D Tunnel isn’t a good on-the-go game as it requires a steady hand to tilt the iPhone or iPod Touch. But aside from a commute to work or long car ride, this application is a decent way to pass sometime. Users will be excited to know that this app can run as music plays – so put your music on shuffle and create your own soundtrack.

If you happen to be an excellent player, take advantage of 3D Tunnel’s online ranking system.
For those who are reluctant to spend money on a basic game like 3D Tunnel, you can either wait for the developer to offer a sale, or visit their website and watch the video.
3D Tunnel is an easy app to use and fun to look at. The straightforwardness of this app might be off-putting to serious gamers, but its arcade charm more than makes up for this.
