Are you an avid reader looking for a way to organize your future reading material? If so then you may enjoy My Reading List for the iPad. This app was developed by 59thirty LLC and is not only a catalog but also an integrated purchasing tool.

The app has a clean and simple interface to it. When you open the app it defaults to your Reading Wish List. In this menu you can see which books are on your list, preview the book cover (by clicking on the cover icon), rearrange or delete books, and even purchases books through amazon.com

In the upper left hand corner you can edit your list .. i.e. remove books you’ve already bought and even rearrange books within the list.

In the upper right hand corner you have the option to add new books to your list. You can add a book either by searching for the name of the book or the author’s name. Once you do that it populates a list of book options where you can select the book you were looking for.

Once a book is added to your list you have the option to buy it, using this app and Amazon.com. Simply click on the “Buy” button and it will pull the book in question up within amazon.com’s website and from there you can select the reading format you are interested in and place your order.

My biggest suggestion for this app would be to incorporate a means to track books that people have read, because that seems to be a common trait among avid readers. That could be as simple as a long, uncategorized list or as nice as breaking it out by genre (possibly pulled from amazon’s website as well), author, or similar categories / ordering.

All in all if you are an avid reading looking for a quick and easy way to keep track of your future reading list you may want to give My Reading List a look. It’s currently on sale in the App Store for $2.99 and currently is available as an iPad only version.

Review – “A great Twitter app for the iPad that gives you many of the advanced options that you’re missing!”

I love Twitter. I love to talk and contribute my random 140 character comments out to the world. Following me on Twitter can sometimes become an extreme sport. With that being said, having a nice Twitter app on my iPad was one of my top priorities.

TweetTime for iPad is developed by Dong-Wook Kim and is a great Twitter client. It offers many of the advanced features that users like myself want to have within their reach. At the same time, the app is very clean, eye appealing, and easy to navigate.

First of all, the app is written with a dark theme, which is a very popular request among Twitter app users. It of course works in both portrait and landscape modes. Portrait mode presents your timeline across the screen while rotating it into landscape not only shows your timeline but it also includes quick links to items such as Home, Mentions, Messages, Trends, and so on (see the screenshot below).

Clicking on a tweet will open it up into a new mini-window, which gives you options such as seeing a user’s profile, marking as a favorite, sending a DM, replying, and retweeting (although it is the old style retweeting). You can continue to drill down into the different links for even more options. When you want to send a new tweet you have the option to add in media from your photo library, URL shortening, and adding in your current location.

In addition, TweetTime for iPad has built in many of the nice Twitterfeatures such as list support (both your lists and lists you subscribe to), current Trends (which can be seen by current, daily, or weekly), multiple account support, and many other great additions.

Here is a listing of the features included in this version of TweetTime for iPad (taken from the developer’s list):

- Managing your twitter home, replies, direct messages and favorites.
- Trends Viewer.
- Searching Twitter.
- Searching a user.
- Viewing other user’s timeline, favorites, and profile information.
- My profile
- Landscape Keyboard support.
- Hash tag support.
- Posting a tweet.
- Reply support.
- RT support.
- Sending and receiving direct messages.
- Uploading photos from your photo library.
- Uploading your location with Google Map.
- Follow, Unfollow users.
- Block/Unblock users.
- Mark/Unmark favorite tweets.
- Built-in web browser to view web links.
- Built-in URL shortening.(Paste or type URLs as many as you want, and then tap URL button.)
- ‘In reply to’ feature. (You can keep tracing all the replies till the end.)
- Shows the number of new tweets when you log back in.
- Supporting OAuth for Authentication for Twitter Server.
- Saving draft of the tweet if you cancel composing tweet. And you can continue to compose it continuously when you re-composing tweet.
- Geotagging Support. You can post geotagged tweets. (Go to Twitter.com, change your setting for enable geotagging to use this feature.)
- Official List Support. Create List, Delete List, Add users to your own list, and subscribe other users’ list.
- Deleting tweets you posted.
- Uploading medias support 2 different modes.

In a future version release, I’d like to see the addition of the new RT Style accessible within the retweet link. Also, it would be nice if my tweets and possibly the @ replies directed to me were color coded so that they stood out from the other tweets in my timeline.

Overall, TweetTime for iPad is a solid Twitter app that comes is a great, clean, easy to use format, while packing in many of the in depth features that power Twitter users crave.

TweetTime for iPad is currently selling in the App Store for $2.99 and this app will be a great addition to your iPad collection. Head on over to the App Store and pick up your copy .. you won’t be sorry!

The Bar ($1.99)
Version 1
Review – “Take the guess work out of Status Bars”

App developer: Alexandre Mello
Website: http://thebar.goalmoon.com

The Bar is an iPhone App which allows you to capture those pesky non-specific status bars, and uses the data to let you know how long it might be until that process finishes. For example, say you’re doing a hefty install, more often than not you’ll be left in the dark when it comes to how long this whole process might take! Here’s a fantastic example (that I simply found via Google Images). That bar doesn’t even have a % complete factor.

Guessing about how much time something is going to take to load/install/download is frustrating even at the best of times, but having a proper expectation if it’s going to take two minutes or two hours is always a relief, which is why *most* software developers include ‘Estimated Time Left’ in install procedures nowadays, as do most modern browsers for general downloads. But for the occasion when you’re not given the information, you now at last, have a solution.

I’m going to walk you through the example I did – so you get an idea of the process. Using the App is extremely simple, and it takes you though step-by-step,

First, you take a pic of your screen. In my case, I chose a YouTube Video.

TheBar 1 200x300 The Bar iPhone App Review

Then, you fill out the data about the progress bar, how long it is, and how much has already loaded;

TheBar 2 200x300 The Bar iPhone App Review

Next, wait for the bar to progress a bit further, depending on how quickly it’s progressing this should only be a little while, to a couple of minutes at most. Then repeat, taking the new photo and updating with the new progression details;

TheBar 3 200x300 The Bar iPhone App Review

And Bingo, The Bar will let you know the overall time elapsed and the approximate time of completion.

TheBar 4 200x300 The Bar iPhone App Review

In my test it was very accurate, my video loaded fully only about 20 seconds before The Bar said it was complete.

If you notice that during the time that you are waiting, that the status bar on your App and the one on your screen seem way off, you can always recalibrate by taking a new 2nd photo and update the status in The Bar.

I think this is a fantastic App, and I’m amazed at how simple and accurate it is. Anyone who spends a lot of time loading/installing/uninstalling or downloading – or any other process (practically anything) that uses a status bar, and has had a rage-fit about not knowing how long it’ll take will really appreciate this App. Hopefully someday soon, they’ll have a solution for these two devils as well:

Toy Physics ($1.99)
Version 1.0.1

Review – “A challenging and fun game that will keep you playing often!”

Toy Physics for iPhone 1 Toy Physics iPhone App Review

Looking for a fun and challenging game that will keep you coming back for more? If so, look no further. Toy Physics, developed by Athos Consulting Inc., is a fun and engaging game with a simple mission .. to get the toys in toy box.

Sound simple? Well it’s not really THAT easy :)

First of all I’d like to mention that this app is coupled with both great graphics and this cute, cheerful music. If you’re not a fan of the music though, just head into the Options which are in the Main Menu, and adjust the background music and / or game effects down a few notches.

Toy Physics for iPhone 2 300x200 Toy Physics iPhone App Review

If you’re new to this game be sure to check out the Tutorial, which is not only where you get to read how to play the game but you also have the chance to practice before you dive into regular game play.

When you start a new game you’ll have the choice between Normal, Hard, and Expert. After you click that the game begins .. At the bottom of the screen you’ll see moving crates, which is what you’re going to try and get the toys into. In addition to that you will also see obstacles, which could be anything from little notches to rotate pieces to water to .. you name it!

Toy Physics for iPhone 6 300x200 Toy Physics iPhone App Review

So .. here’s what happens .. At the top of the screen a toy will appear. Shortly afterwards it will begin falling towards the ground. The goal of the game is to get that toy into the toy box. This is done by predicting how it will fall and then drawing a line which creates a surface for it to fall on.

If you predict it right your toy should land on the surface you drew and slide it’s way into a moving crate. Success!!

.. Ok .. it’s not quite that easy, but that’s why this is so much fun ;)

If you draw a line then change your mind, simply tap on the screen and the line will disappear .. but hurry up and redraw a new line before the toy falls to the ground!

You are only allowed to have toys hit the ground so many times before you fail a level and have to start over. However thankfully this game does have the option to Resume in case you need a break or run out of free time.

As you progress the levels get more challenging. More obstacles, new obstacles, more toys, more toys falling more often. You name it and they’ve incorporated it in this game, trying to make it a challenge that you’ll keep playing!

Check out the fun that is in store if you buy this app ..

Are you convinced yet?

If you like games that look great, sound great, operate great, and are a continuous challenge then you really can’t go wrong with Toy Physics. It’s definitely one of those games that you’ll keep picking back up to see if you can beat just one more level! I keep opening it up, simply because I am determined to beat one more level before I go to bed!!

It’s cute, it’s fun, and it’s a must have app in my collection :)

Head on over to the App Store today and grab your copy .. you won’t be sorry!
