Holy Roller is an app directed towards Christian people looking to reference Bible verses during the day as a means of motivation or inspiration. Developed by Holy Roller LLC, this app is clean, simple, and gives someone the opportunity to find random Bible verses as they want. However it does even more than that.
First of all, it’s important to note that this app supports meaning different interpretations of the Bible, which is accessible by tapping the Settings button in the upper left hand corner of the default screen.
By default it opens to the “Blessings” page, which says “I am blessed by…” and gives you a wheel of options to pick from. After picking your desire, hitting the “Show Verse” button will pull up a random verse that fits your desire.
The nice feature with this is that it not only shows you the verse but it also includes the Chapter and Verse reference as well.
In addition you’ll see the option to “Spread the Word,” where you can email the verse to someone or even post it to Twitter or Facebook.
Clicking the “New Verse” button at the bottom will pull up a new, random verse that fits your current desire. Hitting “Done” will take you back to the previous menu, where you can choose to find a new verse based on a different quality.
In addition to “Blessings,” there is also an option to reference Bible verses by “Burdens.” When you hit this button it simply says “I am…” and gives you choices such as Alone, Grieving, Worries, etc. When you make your selection here, it will in turn pull up a verse that may serve as motivation during your times of need.
All in all this is a very simple app but could be a priceless app for someone who is looking to add Bible verses into their day as a means for inspiration.It is a very nice looking app and is simple and straightforward to use. If having a religious based app on your phone is important to you, this app may be what you are looking for.

One of the ways that developers can release an app for the iPad is known as a universal app. A single app that work on both the iPhone/iPod Touch and the iPad. These apps are specially designed to know what device type they are running on and adapt the application to take full advantage of that device. We’re not talking pixel doubled iPhone apps on the iPad, we’re talking true hybrid iPad and iPhone applications.
One such application is BibleScope. This app is a veteran, having been one of the 500 applications on the App Store on launch day. It did really well, relatively, those early days of the App Store, charting well into the Top 100 in sales.
This coming update for BibleScope is the first applications that we know of that will be offering to unlock the iPad functionality via in-app purchasing. It’s an interesting way for developers to recoup the expense of creating the iPad version, but we wonder how customers will take to it. The general response from consumers has been very negative when a developer tries to charge for increased functionality, hopefully this will be different.
Developer Kenny Ham says that he plans on testing the waters by charging $1.99 via in-app purchasing to unlock the iPad functionality, the first time he’s charged for a feature upgrade in the nearly 2 years the app has been available. The main new features for the iPad version include optimization of the display for the larger screen including a 2-page view and pop-over controls.

For a quick source of daily inspiration, Psalm Daily Quotes NKJV is a lovely app that presents a Bible quote (from the New King James version), along with a photo.
Created by Systems of Merritt, Inc., this app has matched nature pictures with quotes from the Bible in a way (according to their website) that enhances the meaning of the words. I’m not well-studied in the Bible personally, but I can say that the pictures are high quality and do seem to compliment the verses nicely. For example, a quote from Psalm that begins “Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples!” is matched with a picture of seals overlooking the waves crashing on the rocks – something that made me smile, since I pictured the seals clapping.
My app seems to have a glitch with the opening menu – I only see it for one second before being taken directly to a picture and quote, with no way to get back to the menu. However, navigating the app is simple – the quote is at the bottom and scrollable, tap on the right to move forward and left to move backward, and tap the top right corner for a random quote and picture.

Other than the glitch with the opening page on my app, I found Psalm Daily Quotes very easy to navigate, and a lot of care has obviously been taken in selecting the pictures. Overall, it’s a good choice for those looking for a bit of religious inspiration on their iPhone.
Psalm Daily Quotes NKJV requires iPhone OS 3.1.2 and is only compatible with iPhone.

The app scene is full of programs like FML (and many variations of FML) that highlight the negative aspects of life and offer only an option for users to agree or disagree that someone’s life sucks. iTalk to God offers a completely different way to face issues and emotions that come up in life. Would it not be nice to tell an app how you feel and the app return with a positive and spiritual way of dealing with that feeling? Well this app may be just the thing that you need to get through life and feel good about the way you face your issues.
iTalk to God Pros
iTalk to God had a positive message that is hard to ignore. The Bible verses don’t always say that it will be an easy road ahead, but they help you to remember that God always has it under control. This app has a great selections of problems or emotions that a person may be struggling with and addresses them with sound advice and scriptural reference (over 70 topics). iTalk to God has easy to use controls and easy to read font that makes using it a pleasure. You can even choose and download your favorite translation. There is a free version of this app that allows you to try before you buy, but I am sure that if you are one that likes a spiritual pep talk from time to time, this app is for you.
iTalk to God Cons
The paid version offers a wider selection of verses that accompany the different categories but this still feels a bit restrictive. For example, I know of many verses that pertain to anger and this app does not cover them all. While using this app I felt that a forum type discussion section would be a helpful way for people to give and receive spiritual advice. Sometimes it is nice to hear a good suggestion from another human and not a pre-recorded response to an issue. Then again, the app is called iTalk to God.
Pros:
- Positive message for most instances
- Good selections of emotions and struggles
- Gives you the ability to try it out before buying it
- Easy to read font
- Extra suggestions to accompany the verses
Cons:
- May be room for a social application
- A little restricting or lacks depth
It was a nice change to see an app that encourages people with solid scripture and biblical suggestions. For all of the apps that offer or highlight negative aspects in life with no answer, it is nice to see an app that has a different spin on life’s little struggles. I liked this app a lot and would suggest it to anyone who would benefit from spiritual advice (a.k.a everyone!)
I give this app a 9/10 because of the positive message.

There have been a lot of Bible apps, both free and paid. Unfortunately, because of the nature of copyrights very few of the paid apps work well without a solid connection to the internet. If you have been scouring iTunes looking for an iPhone app that is both free and works offline, then you should definitely check 
out Bible by LifeChurch.tv!
The app itself loads very quickly. When you open up “Bible” by LifeChurch you start out on the “Read” screen. You’ll see your current scripture with a version select bar towards the top of the screen, right beneath the “next” and “prev” buttons help you navigate on chapter at a time! Selecting a new version is just two simple clicks. All you have to do is touch the current versions name on the “Read” screen, and then select the version that you would like to switch to.
At the bottom of the screen there is a menu with several different options. The search 
feature, while it is not quite as powerful as some of the more well known Bible apps is a welcome addition to any free app! The only real problem that I had with it is that it doesn’t seem to place the results in any particular order.
My favorite feature of this app is the “Reading Plans” feature. Here you will find all different kinds of reading plans. Once you select a plan it will not only be brought up to you so you can read it, but it will keep track of your progress as you read through that particular plan as well! This is great for those disorganized people that want to get into a regular Bible reading routine!
Bible also offers a “Live” feature for anyone that is attending 
a Lifechurch.tv event. This will bring up scriptures and sermon points, as well as allow for interaction from the use as well! This interface is very slick and it really can add a lot to your experience if you are already a regular attender of Lifechurch!
While all of these features are awesome the best feature of this app, especially for iPod Touch users, is definitely the offline Bible versions that are free! That’s right, all you have to do is touch the “More” tab, go to Settings/Offline Translations and you will be given a list of Bible versions that can download to your device for offline use later!
While this app may not combine all of the greatest features of other Bible apps, it is definitely the best free Bible app that I have used on this platform! If you’ve been searching, but just haven’t found a good free app for reading the Bible don’t waste another moment! Why you may ask? For a limited time right now this app is offering the rarely free NLT version of the Bible as a free offline translation download. So don’t miss out. Grab Bible by Lifechurch.tv today!

One thing I have definitely seen a lot of is Bible applications in the App Store. While there have been a lot of them released for free, none of them have really
compared to this new entry from Logos. Logos is already well known for its desktop Bible study software, and now they have attempted to take some of those amazing tools and port them directly to your iPhone or iPod Touch!
When you open this app for the first time you will be prompted to login to your Logos account if you have one. If not, you should probably go and create a free account because you will have access to some extra free resources if you do. One of the best features of this app is that if you 
already own a copy of any package of Logos 4 you will also be able to view a large portion of your premium content for free in this app! All you have to do is make sure you are logged into your account!
I was impressed right away with the load time of the app. I have seen several advanced bible study tools that take quite a while to load but this one only slowed when it had to access the internet to download things. When you open it up the first 
screen you will see is the “Home” screen. From here you can use the search bar at the top to quickly find a scripture by just typing it in.
I was very impressed with just how many free resources were available. Even if you don’t own the desktop client there are plenty of translations available to choose from in this app. I was also very glad to find out that Logos Software’s customizable search feature is also available from within this app. You can search the Bible, your entire Library, or do a “basic search.”
Another feature that is very nice is the ability to study a passage and/or a word. You can access the “Passage Guide” from the “More” menu which 
will list commentaries, cross references and a variety of other material! You can also access word studies from the same “More” menu. Another good way to access a word study is to touch and hold the word that you would like to view a study of. The word study will show you a graph of the different words that are translated to the word you selected. Touching an individual word will show the scriptures for that particular word.
This app is by far one of the best free Bible apps to hit the App Store. If you have been waiting for just the right software to come along, the wait is over! Not only is this software free, but it will also allow you to access a wide variety of resources from your Desktop license if you already have one! So what are you waiting for? The app is free so go ahead and download it today! You won’t regret it!

Jesus Lives – He’s Not An Illusion is a rare app that takes a hold of you and doesn’t let you loose the experience for some time after using it.
The app begins with instructions. Simple enough:
1) Shake or touch device to start
2) Stare at vertical dots at the center of a strange image
3) After 35 seconds screen turns white
4) Stare at screen and blink quickly
4) Observe and feel His Presence (reviewer is not sure if this is a typo or not but it does say 4 twice)
Sure enough, you shake the phone and a strange image appears that has 4 vertical dots in the middle of the image. Church choir type music is then heard while you stare at the dots. Surprisingly, it is a relaxing feeling while you are staring. After 35 seconds the screen goes pure white.
Once the screen turns pure white you can literally SEE AN IMAGE OF JESUS in your brain. It is not on the screen. If you use the program in a dark room the image literally sticks in your head for at least 20 seconds. It is quite moving.
Afterward the pure white screen transitions to an inspiring bible verse.
