Soft Freak Fiesta is a completely multiplayer game that comes to the iphone. Now you can choose your freak, choose your level and head off against your friends to see who has the best freaks.

When you start the game you will have to choose whether to go online to search for an opponent or you can choose the local WiFi. Once you find your opponent then you get to choose from a range of freaks and levels. Each freak has their own strengths and special attacks so choose wisely.

The great thing is that each level also has its own end game so your game play may completely change based on what level you pick. For example there is a level where you compete to get a ball into your opponent’s hole and another level where you have to wake the zombies in order to come out on top.

To fight you simply drag one of your three freaks in the direction you want them to move, the further you drag the further your freak goes. You can also tap one of your freaks to release their secret weapon.

There are also a number of rewards and powerups that you can earn in order to improve your game play.

Now the majority of the game requires you to have another player but there are a few extras that you can play by yourself. These games are simple and don’t have the entertainment value of the multiplayer levels, but they do have the benefit of teaching you the controls and giving you something to do when your friends are not around.

The graphics are cute and the sounds are nice enough. I did have some trouble getting the multiplayer connections to work. But after some trial and error my husband and I figured it out. I also noticed that you have to make sure that your opponent keeps the result window open until you click rematch if you want to play another round.

The bad thing is that rematch does not allow you to pick another level or a different freak, you can only play the exact same settings. If you want to change you have to exit out and reconnect. I can see this as being very annoying if you find someone online that you enjoy playing with.

Beyond the troubles connecting the game is interesting and I think it just takes a bit of getting used to the controls and understanding how everything works. Before you start a level you get to see a screen that tells you the basics. But this is only if you choose your level and freak before your opponent does, otherwise you might just be playing very confused.

It’s been a long time since the legendary Soft Freak Fiesta ended in anything other than quarrels and deadly rivalries. Soon after the Soft Freaks realized that their temper was as brutal as their competitiveness the fiesta became an excuse for bumping, competing in crazy games and waking up those silly, fast asleep zombies.

Now, each fiesta is a chance to show who’s the beefiest, fastest and coolest Soft Freak of them all.
