I’ve tested a lot of apps over the few months. In my time reviewing apps I’ve come across quite a few apps that are extremely useful. With that said this app is not one of them! Whether you need a distraction for your small child, or you just like silly distractions, 
Wacky Chatter may be just what you’ve been looking for!
I will say this right up front, while Wacky Chatter may not offer a lot of advanced features, what it lacks in depth it makes up for in ease of use! The interface for the app is all on one main screen. At the top of the screen you have three little wheels full of words. These are the “Whacky” words that make up the phrases that the various characters will speak to you.
Just below all the wacky words you’ll see another set of scroll wheels with little character faces on them. These wheels select who it is that actually says each word that is picked. 
There are three different ways to play this game. The first one is to manually select the settings you want and then press the “Chatter” button. The other two ways are to either shake your device and let it select things at random, or to touch the “Wacky” button 
which will basically do the same thing.
something that is kind of fun to go look at is the character profiles. Each different character has a unique profile that tells you about him/her. To access these profiles all you have to do is touch the “He Says” button in the bottom left area of the screen. You can also email a sound to your friends if you real like it! All of this is available without even leaving the app which is very nice.
so to kind of sum things up, this app is pretty shallow on the surface. With that said it is good for the occasional laugh, and would be great to use to keep a young child occupied for a few minutes. The cartoony visuals and great sound effects really add to the feel of the game. The fact os that its hard to go wrong on app that will only cost you $0.99. So what are you waiting for? Something I’ve noticed recently is that there have been a lot of new apps released for children. With the “BragBook” series of apps Scott Singer has created a new genre for this kind of app. So just what is a BragBook? BragBooks are basically stories that are customized with your personal photos and text. With Build a Birthday Bragbook you will be able to easily create a “book” themed around a birthday and add all kinds of neat content to it!
The Build a Birthday BragBook app has a brief help screen that will explain how the different features of Build a Birthday BragBook work. You open it by touching the “?” in the upper left corner of the screen. The options
that you get from the menu allow to create a new story, read a story you’ve created or record audio. There is also a “settings” button in the upper right corner of the screen. The settings menu offers several different options to customize details of how reading the BragBooks you’ve written works.
Creating a BragBook is very simple. All you have to do to get 
started is touch the “Create Story” button and you’ll be taken to the edit story screen. To edit/add text to a slide just fill the box in the upper left corner with the text you want. If you want to include a picture, or several pictures, all you have to do is touch the “+” button by the pictures in the upper right corner. While you are editing files like this you also will see a preview in the bottom left corner of the screen so you can see what it will look like.
The graphics in this app definitely add to the feel of it. They are simple and “cartoony” but at the same they are uniform and give it the feel of being child-friendly. The best feature by far though has to be the audio feature. Once you’ve created your story and have everything set up the way you want it you can 
then go back and dub your own voice over it!
To record audio all you have to do is touch the “Record Story” button from the main menu. From there you’ll need to select a story to record the audio for and then it will take you to the “Record” Screen. To record audio to be played for any given page all you have to do is hit the record button. The app shows you the
text from the page you are on so that you can just read it off if that’s all you want the audio to be.
Overall this is a quality app. With that said, I would really have appreciated having a way to customize what pages are included in your story. Maybe you could just make every page a template that you can select from instead of automatically choosing what pages will be used where.
With all of that said this app does what it says. It manages to not only make it simple to create a cute story, it makes it easy enough that even a child could do it! If you like the idea but would like to play with it a little before committing to pay for it I’d encourage you to try out, “Build a BragBook Story.” The main difference is the type of story it is designed for and that it does not have the audio recording feature of this app. So head to the App Store and check it out!

We review a lot of apps here at AppShouter. Some of them are useful and some of them are just a lot of fun. So how about one
that your kids will enjoy!? Kids Song Machine is an app that will keep your kids entertained for hours. It has cute visuals, and is stuffed full of great 
children’s songs and a simple interface that anyone could operate!
The app loads
up very quickly and takes you directly to a cute contraption that acts as the apps main menu. There is a wheel on the right side that toggles through the different screens you can go to when you touch it. Once you have selected the screen that you would like to 
view all you have to do is touch the “Go” arrow on the left side of the menu.
There are 6 different screens that each have a different children’s song associated with them. As the songs play each screen also has several different interactive elements that are activated by touching them. These elements range from men rowing a boat, to fish, to even a submarine! The animations are simple and cute and they even have sound effects associated with them as well!
While there is not a lot to this app, it does what it is designed for quite well. It has a simple interface that even an infant could use. It’s extremely easy to set it to play a song and just leave your child to play with it. The only way to exit out of a song is to touch the “Exit” button in the upper left corner twice. This makes it very unlikely that your child will accidentally exit out of the screen that they are playing with.
Overall the quality of the images and sounds is excellent. And while $1.99 may seem a little expensive for an app that doesn’t seem to do much, I think you’ll quickly find that the developers have traded depth of features for utility. So whether you need an app to distract your child or your nephew that you’re watching for the day, you can’t go wrong with the Kids Song Machine! So what are you waiting for? Sending traditional cards through the mail is nice, but for those of us with tons of friends, Dress Jingee is a great alternative and a sure way to make sure no one gets left out. This app allows you to change the icing, Jinjee’s face, his buttons, socks, bowtie and candies. I’ll have to admit that while I did not think this game would amount to much, I have spent way too much time playing it already! In Angry Birds by Clickgamer the evil green pigs have stolen the bird’s eggs. It is your job to use these kamikaze birds and a slingshot to put an end to those pigs and save the eggs!
One thing that is obvious in this game is that the animation and graphics are extremely well done. From the sharp looking 
layered backgrounds, all the way down to the animated birds and pigs, this game will bring you back to an era of animated gaming classics that has dwindled away over the last decade!
When you open this game you are taken to the main menu. There is not a lot to the menu, just a “Play” button, a couple buttons to view credits and other games by the developer, and a sound button to toggle it on and off. Once you are 
ready to get started you just touch the “Play” button and then select what level you’d like to play.
When you play Angry birds for the first time only the very first level will be available and every time you finish a level a new one will be unlocked. There are 21 levels within each world and there are 3 worlds to explore! Below each level you will see stars 
once they are completed. When you finish a level you will be given a score for how well you did and you will be given anywhere from 1 to 3 stars depending on how well you did.
Once you select a level and get started you will be shown the area where the pigs are hiding. You will then be taken to a slingshot loaded up with a crazy bird ready to make an insane 
suicide attack! As you get further into the game you will run into different kinds of barriers protecting the pigs as well as different kinds of birds with special abilities. Some of those special abilities are one that explodes, another that divides into 3 birds and one that will speed up and blast through touch barriers!
Now you might think that you would get bored with a game like this quickly. I was very impressed with the diversity of ideas and levels in this game though. When I began testing this app it seemed like I had just started and yet I had already been playing it for over an hour. Even though this game is very addicting it is also very easy to put it down at any time if you need to as your progress is saved after every level that you finish.
One of the best things about this game is that it is fun for all ages. The concept is simple enough, and yet carries enough depth with it to be both easy to get started and yet difficult to master. Whether you are looking for a game to keep your kids entertained or you are looking for a quick diversion for those dead times in your life I would highly recommend “Angry Birds!”

It simple, to the point and sounds amazing – mScribble is everything you need in an easy, mindless and fun app that allows you to kill time, listen to music and just play around. It’s easy to see why the reviews of this app have been so good – there’s nothing to complain about. mScribble does what it intends to do and doesn’t apologize for being anything less or anything more (not that it is).
mScribble is a simple app that allows you to be a music master. With lines of music cleverly set as the background, the idea of the app is to place your finger on the screen and scribble away leaving behind beautiful sounds and fun, colorful lines and shapes to draw while doing it.
At the start of the app, mScribble gives you two options: Renaissance Faire 
or Jazz Club. Fortunately for me (and you), I have tried both and surprisingly, I didn’t really prefer one over the other. To me, a fairly untrained ear, they both sounded great and the finger scribbling was at the same caliber on each.
This app is fast, no noticeable delay – especially since you are gliding your finger across the screen while simultaneously music is being projected from the speakers and colored lights are being waved across the screen. If nothing else, this app is a lot of fun. But more than that, it is a nice way to just sit down, relax, draw some pictures, listen to some music and feel as though you have had a hand in it all – or finger J
mScribble is an inexpensive, easy to use app. It is definitely worth 99 cents, especially since the hours of entertainment it has allowed is also very much appreciated. It is sometimes hard to find an app that doesn’t really do anything but is still fun for all ages and entertaining more than two minutes.
Parents, this app isn’t just for you. Hand over that iPhone or iTouch and watch the smiles that come to your kids’ faces as they run their chubby, little fingers along the screen and think that they are making the most wonderful music in the world. In my opinion, now more than ever, you are able to open your children up to music in a completely different way with the iPhone – mScribble is one of those ways.
Download this app now for a low-key, entertaining app that allows you to act as though you completely know what you are doing. Whether you know a little or lot about music, this app is definitely worth checking out.

For all the apps I have purchased and never used again I’m finally happy to say I found MyNatures Animal Track app one that I will use repeatedly over the years to come. If you’re not an outdoors kind of person, then this app isn’t or you; but if you do anything outdoors-related such as hiking, camping, photography or hunting, this app is a definite one to have.
I never knew it was so easy to identify animal tracks but with the way this app categorizes tracks in their selection menu makes knowing what animal left a track easy to figure out. I have used field guides in book format for years and it was always a task to flip through the pages to find which track resembles the one I found. With this app it’s not only easy to identify the animal tracks but you can refer to the range map to make sure that track is in your part of the country.
The sound files are also a pretty neat feature. My kid loves the animal sounds and the gait images and descriptions were a great addition as well as an actual digital image of the animal’s track and the animal itself, which are some beautiful pictures. Great idea with the ability to write your experiences in the nature journal – I was a bit concerned with the price at $6.99 but compared to a book to lug around at over $15 and with the search features in this app, six bucks is a bargain. Highly recommended.

When I was a kid, there were no iPhones, PS3’s or any of the other cool gadgets that there are now. For entertainment, the kids on my street rode bikes, played hide-and-seek or on a rainy day, there were board games, coloring or Mad Libs. For some reason when I think of Mad Libs, I remember long road trips with everyone throwing out adjectives like they were nothing – which, in the Mad Libs world, they were just another means to an end – an end to my incessant chatter, as my brother would say.
As I child, I talked a lot. I liked to read, ask questions, write things and boss people around; it’s what I did. My brother was a lot quieter and usually kept to himself. When the Mad Libs book came out, it was always a guess of whether or not he would participate in the noun/adjective/verb-ending-in-ing guessing game that I loved so much. But don’t worry, if he didn’t participate, I always had my mom to bug.
As far as I am concerned, Mad Libs have been around forever, so why not take a classic and revolutionize it? Besides, you would be hard-pressed to find a kid nowadays with a pen and Mad Libs tablet in his hand. So whether it was Price Stern Sloan or Penguin Group who came up with the idea to add Mad Libs to iTunes, I say bravo. The revolutionary, tech-savvy kids of the new millennium can still experience the classics of the old-country… the 1900s, that is. And now 
they don’t have to worry about their handwriting being legible.
Mad Libs Lite has four categories (but an infinite number of possibilities): How to Enjoy Yourself on the Beach, Vacations, Letter to a Friend Back Home and Driving in the Car. Each Mad Lib has anywhere from 14 to 20 blanks that need to be filled out. When you decide on the story in which you wish to embark on a crazy journey with a buddy or two, you will be given a pop-up that asks for an adjective, verb, place, etc. As you type in the corresponding word, the next will pop up and so forth. When you have finished, your completed story will be available for an outloud read that is sure to have everyone ROTFLOL (☺).
Each Mad Lib can be as funny/crude/sweet as you would like it to be – and don’t worry, if you get stumped, all you 
have to do is press the “hints” button on the top right and a list of possibilities will scroll the screen so that you can have something to choose from or just jog your memory. Also in preferences select from several phonetic concepts. For beginners, choose ‘a,e,i,o & u’. Children see basic three letter words with short vowel sounds. For the lazy person, an iPhone is ideal in so many ways. For the lazy person who likes games, it’s hard to know where to begin since that statement is true in so many ways. When I was a kid, we always had tons of games: Monopoly, checkers, trouble, sorry, every card game imaginable, you name it, we had it and I played it. Cards were for a slower day, but it still a great game and I really enjoyed beating my younger brother every chance I got. One of my favorite card games was memory and I had a special deck that was just for playing this game. Pairopix is the virtual game of memory without the shuffling, flipping and it is completely customizable.
When it comes to iPhone games, I am very particular in what I choose to download, especially if I have to pay; but as soon as I read the description, I knew that this would probably be a game that I really liked, and I was right. Pairopix has four “decks” (sets) that you can choose from: animals, foods, underwater life and complex shapes. I found that the shapes were my favorite as they were brightly colored and pretty memorable. For me, the underwater one was the hardest because so many of the fish are similar and the colors are all pretty close. In addition to the four sets that are included in Pairopix, you have the option of customizing your own. (Be sure to also check out their webpage and submit screenshots of your own, personal gallery and game.)
Customizing a deck is as easy as just a few clicks. Either from your photo album on your phone or the option to use the camera and take a photo, you 
choose (or take) the photo you want to use and crop accordingly. Once you choose twelve photos, you have your new deck with which to play. When you decide on the set to play with, you have two options: Level 1 or Level 2. Both levels are timed and count the number of taps that you use to match all of the pictures, but Level 2 starts taking away your matches if you are too slow or take too long to find another one – it is a little nerve-wracking but still really fun.
I was hooked after one game and probably sat and played for 20 minutes before I decided to add my own set of photos to play with. Whether or not you add your own photos, the game is entertaining and challenging enough to keep you occupied for quite a long time. The layout is simple, clean and free from distractions so you can concentrate on the pictures, not the game interface. At any time you can shake the phone to get the options of home, resume, info or tell a 
friend. It tracks your five highest scores for both levels one and two for least amount of taps and quickest time finished. Once I filled up all ten spaces in both levels, the next challenge was to beat them – which I have done for a while, but am continuously trying to find those matches in record time.
The game is fun, addicting, entertaining, challenging and keeps your brain working by using your memory. I would recommend this game for any age and think that a seven year old could enjoy it as much as a thirty year old or a seventy year old. There is something about childhood games that are revamped that just work so well, this was one of them.

Level one
Tap a port to reveal an image, tap another to find its match. If you are successful at finding a pair, they will both remain open allowing you to resume searching for more. If you select a mismatch, both ports will close leaving you to try again. Your objective is to open all twelve pairs in the shortest amount of time, and fewest number of taps.
Level two
Same as level one, but after opening a port, you must open another within 2 seconds or the first one will close forcing you to open it again. You must also find a pair every 7 seconds or previously opened pairs will begin “slamming” shut. Either way will add more time and taps to your score. Bottom line… think fast!
Creating custom image sets:
We have created a user friendly series of steps for you to create your own image sets. Follow the screen prompts from the home page to begin. Shoot with your iPhone’s Camera, or import pics from your Photo Albums (iPhone & iPod touch), use your finger tips to move & resize, then tap “use”. Once you have saved a set of twelve, your custom set icon will appear on the “home” game page and be ready for play. Custom image sets (finished & unfinished) can be edited from the home screen by holding a finger upon their icons for two seconds.

Although only out for a week, Musée du Louvre is already the number one (free) Education App as per Apple’s website. The Musée du Louvre app, obviously limited compared to the actual museum, is the digital Louvre in the palm of your hand. I am surprised there have not been more apps like this, although with the Louvre paving the way, I hope that more museums will follow suit and provide quality, educational apps like this.
With a narrated, digital tour of the Louvre, you get some background information before you even get started. As the home of some of the most famous, prestigious and older works of art in all of the world, this app allows you to search, explore, admire and learn about some of these – all at your own pace. In addition to the visitor information, including complete directions, admission fees, hours and contact information, the Musée du Louvre app offers a photo gallery through the Palace and the Artworks that hang along and within these famous walls.
The Artworks section includes works like the Mona Lisa and The Young Beggar in addition to sculptures, the French Crown Jewels 
and ancient pieces of intricate furniture. As you scroll through the gallery, each thumbnail is clickable and offers additional information about that particular piece. Whether you are walking the halls of the Louvre and using this app as a guide or you are shutting out the hustle and bustle of your hectic life and taking a mental break to the Louvre, this app offers up information about the work, the specific location within the museum, the technical information relating to the medium, methods used and more specifically dimensions and purchasing information and the option to see the work in more detail – as if you were there.
One of the features I really enjoyed about this app is the “About the Work” section. Once you click on this option, historical and educational information is displayed about that particular time period, piece or work and the artist. While you scroll through the information, the picture on the left will change to zoom in and out of what is specifically being discussed. I thought that this was very clever, convenient and useful in the educational process.
The Palaces section offers exquisite photos of the insides, outsides, details and works of art located throughout the Louvre. In addition to the information and details about each photograph and location in the museum, the Palaces section offers video commentary with tours of the different locations, statues and pieces that are shown throughout each section. All narrated video commentary is available in English, French, German and Japanese.
With everything that this app offers, I think that the best option is to mark things as a “favorite” where it saved in a separate section. The same options are available to these works as though you were scrolling through their original section. And although the app doesn’t have everything that the Louvre offers, it is a great taste of what the museum in Paris holds. Whether or not you have plans, dreams or the desire to travel to France and visit this spectacular place, the app is a great starter and educational tool to prepare, entice and entertain. Download this free app today to start seeing and learning about some of the most famous paintings and works of art that you have probably already seen but didn’t know.
