The Deep Pinball version 1.2 is updated with a Christmas theme that is really great and one that can help you keep the Christmas feel for just a little bit longer. But the added benefit of this Christmas update is that for a limited time this app is now free so hurry up and grab it before you have to pay the regular $.99 price.

The game starts off with a bit of advertisements but that is all you ever see of it and the rest of the game is spent playing it just like normal pinball game. You touch the bumpers to get them to move and you slide to launch each new ball.

The sounds are great and I think the graphics are really well done considering that it is just a pinball game. There are also plenty of different things to interact with and even missions to follow so it is really easy to rack up the points.

Personally I love pinball games there is plenty of lights and sounds to really make things fun and interesting and you can play through a game in a matter of minutes (if you aren’t that good at pinball anyway) and it’s something that you can easily pull out and instantly get into.

Now for those of you that don’t want Christmas year round you can go into the settings mode on your iphone and then scroll down until you see The Deep app. You can then switch off the Christmas theme and you are left with the basic and the classic underwater pinball game.

The movement and the gameplay is very fluid so you do not have to worry about anything but human error screwing up your game.

You can also shake the table simply by shaking your iphone and you can pause the game by pressing the top display.

There are a few interesting things to note in this game, the camera changes views to zoom in on the ball in certain points and then to zoom out and show the table. If you like you can turn off the live camera and move to a static camera.

There are also world and local scores to check and see how well you match up against everyone else.

If you want to know what everything is and how to get missions and meet checkpoints, simply let the main screen run for a few moments and a guide will pop up and explain everything to you.

If you like pinball I highly recommend this game and you really should grab it while it is still free!

Santa’s Roller Coaster Rush (FREE)

REVIEW – “Have some high flying roller coaster fun with Santa and his Elves.”

Well I have been scouring around trying to find some good holiday themed apps to review and this one happily popped up. For those of you who have tried and like the Rollercoaster Rush games then you’ll love Santa’s Rollercoaster Rush.

In this game you have the same rules and controls as the original Rollercoaster Rush. You can use the accelerometer and tilt the phone to the right to go forward and to the left to brake or you can use the tap controls and press and hold the right or left side of the screen.

Now like the name implies this game is done in a Christmas theme so you spend your days riding rollercoasters at the North Pole with Santa and his elves. The tracks are complete with polar bears, pine trees, plenty of snow and of course a flying reindeer or two.

The graphics were great but what I really enjoyed was the background music. I love Christmas carols and being able to play this Christmas themed game and listen to great carols was loads of fun.

As your playing you can try for special bonuses like jumping high in the air or not using the brakes for the entire track. But honestly what I found to be really fun was crashing because it was just cute watching Santa and his elves parachute down.

If you are looking for some pointers, instead of applying the brakes simply let off the gas so to speak in order to slow the coaster down. This is important when you have a really steep hill or two hills close together. To get the bonuses you don’t always have to go at full speed but you do have to make it back safely.

The great thing about this game is that is comes complete with 24 different levels and tons of fun for free. Which is great for kids and adults who want to quickly get into the holiday spirit.

One thing to note is that like many free games it does have advertisments. This is only on the map screen and it is relatively small in the left-hand corner. It did not bother me at all especially when I was getting such a fun game for free, so I don’t think it will bother any of you.

I think this game was a great find and horray for the developers for fulfilling my desire to have a Christmas themed game to play around with.

P.S. For those of you who read the developer notes, it mentions a full version, as far as I can tell and from searching the app store it doesn’t exist. Don’t worry though, this free version gives you all the fun you need!
