We’re proud to announce the world’s largest iPhone app promo code contest held to honor the nominees of the 2009 Best App Ever Awards!
In honor of the second annual Best App Ever Awards, nominees were invited to submit promo codes for their apps for a promo code contest. What we got back was absolutely staggering. We have thus far received 912 promo codes for nearly 100 different apps. That comes to a total retail value of almost $2500!
We’ve got a load of great apps like Documents To Go, Business Card Reader, Easy Trails, IM+, and many more. And games? Of course there are games like Labyrinth 2, Lexic, Mini Squadron, Best App Ever winner Pocket God, and many more.
We’ll be giving out the promo codes automatically over the next two weeks. To enter, you need just send a particular tweet on Twitter or a share a link on Facebook. Easy and you can enter every day of the two weeks if you wish.
When you win a promo code you will be given a unique URL to visit that will contain your promo code. On that page we will show you the value of the app you have won and ask that you donate, if you can, that amount or more to help with Haiti relief.
In addition to single promo codes, we will be giving away a very limited number of special multi-prize codes. These special codes allow you to take your pick of the apps available and will give you more than a single pick. It’s like being set loose in the App Store with nothing holding you back!
And now, the bad news. Since Apple only allows promo codes for US iTunes accounts, those are the only ones that are allowed to enter the contest. I wish we had a way to open it to everyone in the world, but there’s just no easy way at this time.
A big thank you to the nominees for their generosity! Hopefully we can raise a little awareness about these great apps and a little bit to help Haiti.

We recently reviewed iSamJackson, and found it to be one of the best soundboard type apps you will find in the app store. Our editor Chris liked it so much that he’s foregone all verbal communication, and speaks only through Sam Jackson. To be honest, we hardly notice the difference…
Hot on the heels of the app’s success, Heatwave Interactive has announced “The Perfect iSamJackson Line” Contest. Fans of Sam Jackson can submit what they think would be the ultimate thing for him to say. All entries are being collected on the iSamJackson website until February 18, 2010. Although there is no guarantee that the winner’s line will be recorded and added to the app, there are some prizes up for grabs for the top submissions, including…

The iSamJackson app comes with 150+ original soundbytes recorded by Samuel Jackson, and can be had for roughly the price of a Royale with Cheese. You’ll find a retort for almost any situation, and there is an in-app store for downloading additional themed packs. iSamJackson is available in both Explicit and Clean versions, although there’s really only one choice for the full Sam Jackson experience.

Yep, that’s right, folks…the Appvent Calender has come to an end. iTunes Connect is closed for Christmas, presumably to help iTunes handle the influx of traffic, so developers can’t change prices until the holiday is over. There won’t be any more free games, at least not through the official Appvent Calender.
What the folks at Blacksmith games are offering, though, is a contest. You can go here to read the full details, but the main thing is that you have to create a sketch, design, or description of a unique Plushed character. The winner will receive a $200 iTunes gift card (USA only, sadly). That’s a nice prize right there!
The developers will pick their top five choices on December 29th and show them on the Appvent Calender site. In true democratic style, “the people” will get to pick the winner. Not only will the winner receive that awesome gift card, but their character will be animated and added to the game as an enemy in the fifth level of Plushed!
A fitting end to the Appvent Calender? I think so. It’s hard to believe how close it is to Christmas.

Those App Store veterans among you will recognize Beejive as the widely acknowledged leader in the field of IM apps. Even Apple selected it as one of 2009’s best app in their “2009 Rewind” feature. Sporting push notifications, group chat, support for a wide array of IM services, and oodles of other features, Beejive has long set the premium standard. We gave Beejive a shining 5-star rating, and highly recommend it to any heavy chat users. It was worth it back at $15.99 and was still a deal at $9.99. Now, its current sale price of $5.99 is likely the lowest you’ll see this premium app go. Make sure to read our review for a more in-depth look!

UK development studio Sauce Digital will be holding a 12 Days of Christmas Apps contest from December 26 (Boxing Day) through January 6 (Epiphany). They’ve gathered hundreds of promo codes from participating developers, and will be giving away one twelfth of the codes on every day of the event. To enter the contest, all you have to do is submit your name and email on the official site, http://www.12daysofchristmasapps.com. The website also has an area where interested developers can sign-up for taking part in the promotion.
Sauce Digital is probably known best for their game Nano Rally, and have recently released Touch Soccer 3D. Their suite of games will be offered in the competition, as well as those from a variety of developers including Hanged by Freeverse, and Harbor Master by Imangi Studios. So far 47 developers have joined the contest pool, and the total number of promo codes collected is at 365 and counting.

The developer’s of iMoki Blast, a very cool physics puzzle game, are holding a level creating contest. The ten best levels will be selected and will be included “in their own dedicated world with new graphics for the next iBlast Moki update.” The winners will also receive a $25 iTunes gift card. Below is more info about the context.
If you haven’t check out iBlast Moki yet, you will want to take a look at it. It remains one of my favorite games. For more info about the game, check out my review HERE.
iBlast Moki Contest
The rules
- You will have to create totally new levels with original puzzle ideas using a variety of items.
- We will select the 10 best levels we receive and include them in their own dedicated world with new graphics for the next iBlast Moki update.
- You can win multiple times and will get a 25$ iTunes gift card for each of your levels that is selected and published.
- You will also get your name in the credits if your level is selected.
How to participate
- Create a level with the level editor in iBlast Moki for iPhone/iPod Touch.
- Try to create complex and difficult level using a wide variety of items in the nature environment.
- You level name should start with XX so that we can identify it for the competition.
- Upload it using the online sharing feature in iBlast Moki.
- Take a screenshot of the solution and email it to contest at godzilab-games dot com
- All levels should be uploaded before midnight on Sunday 8th November 2009
- We will select the best levels, and you will receive an email if your level is chosen
Notes
- We won’t accept existing or similar levels to the ones already uploaded or in the game, so please make sure your levels are completely new with original ideas.
- The levels should be using the standard physics (not the water physics).
- We would like to see complex and hard levels using a wide variety of items.
