Monster Memory Match for iPad

Monster Memory Match for iPad is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

“Monster Memory Match for iPad” is a matching game that uses a combination of monster drawings and sight words to make this app both fun and educational. This app begins with the screen full of cards. Tap to flip each card over and try to remember what monster or word is on the other side, in the interest of making pairs.

I am really pleased with the educational nature of this app. Half the cards to be turned over contain sight words, being some of the most commonly used words in the English language that most school children are expected to learn. The other half are fun monsters to keep the game light and entertaining.

ABC Wildlife! Review

ABC Wildlife! Review is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

“ABC Wildlife!” is an app which helps introduce animals and letters to kids with the use of pictures, videos and animal facts. Tap on a letter, and then scroll through corresponding pictures of an animal that starts with the same letter chosen. At the bottom of the screen, the animal will be spelled out and any of these letters can also be chosen as well, or you can choose your favorite from the index. If online, the animal’s picture can be tapped, and you are connected to a YouTube video, or just read about your choice by tapping the question mark.

Multiple players are allowed, and scores for each player are tracked in the “Grades” section. The player can select difficulty levels (Easy, Medium, and Hard), turn sound effects on and off, and even read a basic lesson under the “Learn” section, where basic and brief written description of the mathematics behind each game are available.

Audio Class Notes Free

Version – 1.0

Review – “Take notes the easy way for free!”

Audio Class Notes Free 1 200x300 Audio Class Notes Free iPhone App ReviewI found that one of the most irritating things in college was trying to keep up with some of my professors taking notes. There’s just so much information in some classes that sometimes it’s hard to decide what you need to write down. If you have one of those classes you may want to check out Audio Class Notes Free on your iPhone or iPod Touch!

When you open up the app the first thing you’ll see is a menu with three options. You can “Record a new file,” “Play A Recorded File,” or view and edit preferences in the “Options” menu. Inside the options menu you’ll see buttons to select the recording quality, Audio Class Notes Free 2 200x300 Audio Class Notes Free iPhone App Reviewremove all data from the app, and to add/remove “Classes” which is how all of your recordings are organized!

Once you’re ready to start recording you’ll need to make sure you’ve set up the class that you’re recording notes for, and then touch the “Record a new file” button. To start recording just touch the “Record” button in the upper left corner. At any time you can pause recording, or when you’re finished just touch the stop button stop and save it. You’ll be asked for a name for the recording, and if you don’t give it one then it will be named “Recording #?”.

Once you’ve recorded your class notes to review them later just touch the “Play A Recorded File” button. You’ll be given a list of all the files that you currently have. You can remove items from the list by swiping and touching the “Delete” button that Audio Class Notes Free 3 200x300 Audio Class Notes Free iPhone App Reviewcomes up, or by touching the “Delete Mode” button in the lower right corner and using the “-” buttons to the left of the recordings.

To play a recording just touch it and you’ll open the the playback screen. From here you can not only listen to your recordings, but you can also tag certain parts so that you can quickly find them later. This is extremely easy to do, my only comment would be that there really needs to be a way to delete “tags” just in case you add Audio Class Notes Free 4 200x300 Audio Class Notes Free iPhone App Reviewone in a place where you didn’t want it, or you named it wrong.

All things aside this is a very useful app, and I was very impressed with how well this app was able to pick up people’s voices, even at a distance. Best of all though it’s totally free! The only thing you’ll have to deal with are the ads that you see at the top of the screen. They are not obtrusive though, and if you choose to view them they are Apple’s new “iAds” so you don’t have to leave the app to check them out!

If you’ve been looking for a voice recording app similar to this one, there is no reason that you shouldn’t at least give this a try. While there may be apps out there with a few extra “bells and whistles,” it is very doubtful that you’ll be able to find a better, easier to use app than this one for free. So what are you waiting for? Click the link below and check it out for yourself today!

This is a great app for monitoring the App Store. Something the is missing from the actual App Store. Being able to keep an eye on certain apps that you may find a little pricey, and know when there are going on sale, is a terrific feature, that will probably never be included by Apple. The “Changes and Updates at a glance” feature is great, if you’re interested in knowing what has recently been updated, or want to ignore updates and focus on new releases only. Seeing as this app is free, there is no reason we cannot recommend this app.

Unity Extends Mobile Generation Education Project Deadline

Unity Extends Mobile Generation Education Project Deadline is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Unity Technologies announced a deadline extension for its Mobile Generation Education Project, a campaign that aims to equip selected academic institutions with multiplatform Unity development technology.

The project seeks applications from university instructors who wish to incorporate mobile and tablet PC development in a game design curriculum. The application for entry is September 30th.

20 winning applicants will receive a free copy of Unity Pro for Android and a Google Nexus One phone, and will advance to the next round of judging. Participating instructors must then submit a proposal for a full-semester mobile games curriculum, including example lectures.

Three chosen winners will receive 20 Unity Pro licenses and 20 Google Nexus One phones for use in a proposed game development curriculum.

Unity notes that a number of game development programs across the United States have adopted Unity technology, including Georgia Institute of Technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Carnegie Mellon University.

“The pace of game/application development is so rapid that it’s almost impossible for educators to keep up on their own,” said Davey Jackson, Educational Outreach Director for Unity Technologies. “We believe it’s crucial to work closely with educators to provide them with technology and expertise to help them structure courses that will teach their students the skills necessary to begin a successful career in the games industry of tomorrow.”

Motorola Funds Mobile Development Competition at Iowa State University

Motorola Funds Mobile Development Competition at Iowa State University is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

The Motorola Foundation, in association with the Innovation Generation program, has awarded a $50,000 grant to Iowa State University to fund a competition encouraging students to create video games and educational training applications.

Headed by ISU associate professor of integrated studio arts Anson Call and computer science lecturer Chris Johnson, the contest requires students to form teams of three members. Each team must include a designer, a programmer, and a business manager.

Each team will compete in one of three categories: serious games, PC/console games, and mobile games. The winning entries in each category, as judged by a guest professional game developer, will receive a top prize of $10,000.

A second prize of $2,000 and a $1,000 third prize will also be awarded in each category. All prize money will be split evenly between team members.

Suggested platforms for the contest include Microsoft’s XNA Game Studio, Apple’s iPhone, and Android devices, among other supported console and mobile platforms.

“Students are already doing game design in their spare time and not earning academic credit for it,” said competition organizer Anson Call. “The interest is there. We just need to provide the opportunity. The Innovation Generation grant is a perfect way to do that.”

The competition will officially begin on September 8th. Final judging and a public exhibition will be held at the end of ISU’s spring semester.

Are you in school studying for your MBA and still searching for that perfect study aid to help you with completely your degree? If that fits your description then you may find Pocket MBA Full Course (Part 1) an app would reading about.

This app is developed by Intersog and is similar to taking a course at your own pace. It is really nice, clean, in depth, and does a great job of offering something for different learning styles.

First of all you’ll notice when you launch the app that it has a great interface to it. It defaults to the main menu, which lists out the different courses that you can choose from, with a brief summary of each one. From here you will pick the subject you are interested in studying and proceed to Launch that course.

Once you choose and go into a course you’ll see it’s even broken down into chapters. After that it goes into pre-course expectations, which I think is great, so you will know what to expect to learn from each chapter. In addition, if you look along the bottom you’ll see that they offer the chapter in modes to read the text, study through flash cards, and even to take an exam.

A few things worth noting about this app ..

1. You can bookmark your progress or just any sections you would like to refer back to.

2. You can search for topics throughout the app through a handy search button.

3. There’s a handy glossary (specific to the application) so you can look up new words quickly and easily as you encounter them).

4. The app is quick, smooth, really clean, and just overall very nicely laid out. You can tell the developer put a lot of time into fine tuning this application.

My thoughts? If you’re studying for your MBA and need a great tool to give you that motivation and push to do well then this app is definitely worth looking at. Yes, it’s pricey but so is your education, right? Those Master’s classes aren’t cheap, trust me I know!

If doing well and not repeating courses is important to you then this app may be worth the investment. It’s very nice, seems very in depth, and may be what you need to give your education that extra boost, so check it out in the App Store today!

Algebra Touch Educates iOS Device Owners

Algebra Touch Educates iOS Device Owners is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

In modern society, which came first, technology or education?  This is the personification of the age old question of whether the chicken or the egg came first.  In the case of technology and education, one cannot exist without the other, so the modern educational system has adapted to adopt the technologies of the age into the classroom experience.

Over time, everything from calculators to computers were successfully integrated into the education system and if the developers over at Regular Berry have anything to say about it, iPhones or iPads may be next on the list.  Just yesterday they debuted Algebra Touch, an app that is targeted at streamlining the process of teaching students the key concepts of Algebra, while still providing an interactive experience.

So how interactive is this application, you ask?  Why not take a look at the iPad and iPhone demonstration videos to see for yourself:

When I was watching these videos all I could thing about is how much better I would have been at Algebra, had this app existed when I was in school.  It has managed to find a way to meld the processes necessary to be successful with the material, while still making it fun to do.

According to Regular Berry’s developer blog the application is current designed to cover the following concepts:

  • Simplification
  • Like Terms
  • Commutativity
  • Order of Operations
  • Factorization
  • Prime Numbers
  • Elimination
  • Isolation
  • Variables
  • Solving Equations

I may not be a math wiz or a seasoned educator, but I know enough to comprehend that a good portion of a teacher’s workload could be eased with software of this nature.  Further encouraging classroom adoption is the compatibility with external display cables, which could be used to connect the iPad or iPhone to the teacher’s projection device of choice.  So not only is it visually appealing, but it is convenient as well.

If there’s anything that concerns me about Algebra Touch it might be that the low level math is being done for the user by the software.  In a classroom where you are working with younger children, it may be best to integrate in a process wherein the students do the basic calculations on their own.  I know calculators made me lazy; I would hate to see the same happen here.  Though, at the end of the end of the day, if it helps our future children learn, then it is all worthwhile.  Good luck securing funds for a classroom worth of iPads.

Theory Test Puts UK Student Drivers on Path to Safety

Theory Test Puts UK Student Drivers on Path to Safety is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Price: £1.19     Score: 9/10     By A. PapachristosTheory

Mobility means an increase in freedom, and when most young adults reach a given age, this independence comes once they learn to drive a car.  For those just learning to drive in the UK, Theory Test by Low Price Lessons helps highlight vital information and study material for those preparing for their theory and hazard perception tests.

Combined with realistic theory test questions and official hazard perception videos, Theory Test works to put students ahead of the game, linking them to Driving Standards Agency (DSA) approved instructors and providing them with ideal material to help in their learning.

Upon startup, users will come to the Home screen, which displays the buttons that link to each of the tabs listed in the bottom navigation bar.  The first button, marked Instructors, allows users to find local driving instructors based on their current location.  Users are guaranteed to find the best deals possible, for all the instructors listed have agreed to offer their best prices in conjunction with the Low Price Lessons website and this very application.  You can compare their prices and user ratings right within Theory Test, so you can be sure you are getting the best deals around.  And, with one touch calling, users can tap the instructor’s phone number right on the screen to call and arrange lessons immediately.

The second button, Quizzes, brings users to a selection of practice quizzes that will test their driving and hazard perception knowledge.  Users can play Single Player, picking a random quiz or choosing one from a specific category.  Single users may also opt for a Full Theory Test.  (The How To Play button below these three selections explains what each choice offers.)  The Multiplayer option allows up to five players to battle each other quiz style in a “last person standing” type showdown to see who knows the most about the rules of the road.  This unique study tool is great for friends, as well as instructors and parents who want to creatively encourage their student or child to learn every detail and safety precaution.  These results can then be shared with everyone via Facebook, Twitter or email.

Users can also find a extensive list of important information under the Hints & Tips tab.  From what to do after an accident, to rules of the road, to how to use various aspects of the application itself, this section covers the majority of information students will need to review in preparation for their theory and hazard perception tests.  The Info tab simply says a few words about Theory Test and Low Price Lessons in general.  And while this section provides an overall summary of what the application has to offer, it is miniscule compared to the true, broad scope of information that Theory Test covers in a single application.

Theory Test [iTunes Link] , which serves only UK users, requires iPhone OS 3.1.2 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
