Whether your already addicted, or you’ve always wondered why so many of your friends are playing, there’s never been a better time to try out one of the most popular games on Facebook! Farmville 
by Zynga is an iPhone app that interfaces with Farmville. It does this by downloading all your information from their servers, and then rendering it all on your iDevice!
The first time you open up Farmville on your iPhone you’ll need to get your account set up. If you already have Farmville on your facebook account you’ll be able to log in and access your old farm. You can also just create a 
new farm though if you’ve never played Farmville.
The basic idea of Farmville is that you get to create and design your own farm! As you progress through the game you’ll unlock the ability to grow a variety of different crops. You can also buy all kinds of items including fences, houses, barns, and animals!
In addition to “leveling up” for performing tasks and gaining xp, you also make money by producing and selling things. You can make money by growing trees and 
selling their fruits. You can make money by growing and selling various gropes from flowers to fruits and vegetables. You can also make money off the various different animals by performing things like milking them, or sheering them, etc.
As far as the look and feel of this app Zynga has done an excellent job making it feel like the web version! The interface is pretty easy to understand, and the app offers explanations of how to perform basic functions in case you can’t figure it out.
In all honesty the only real problems with app have to do with it’s connectivity. Sometimes it takes several tries to get the app to connect and load the information from Facebook’s servers. While some of these problems have been fixed in the latest 1.01 
update, some of the problems still persist. For the most part the app seems stable after it gets loaded though.
One of the coolest features of this app is that you can actually receive push notifications when your crops are ready to harvest! One of the more difficult/time consuming tasks in Farmville is keeping track of when you need to get on to take care of the crops you have planted. With Push Notifications you’ll never have to worry about keeping track of this manually!
Overall the performance of this app was adequate. There are definitely a few bugs still in the system, but Zynga is working hard to fix them. While I probably wouldn’t probably recommend starting a new farm with this app until they get a few more kinks worked out, there is plenty here for the experienced Farmville user! Regardless, it can’t hurt to at least take a look at this app because just like Farmville on Facebook this app is available for free. So download your copy today!

If you enjoy inspirational quotes and great artwork this is an app that you will appreciate! Scenic Quotes for iPad is an app that will offer a unique quote every day, and has a variety of beautiful nature backgrounds to put behind them. The primary function of this app is to make your iPad a beautiful addition 
to your office space when it’s not in use, and it does that quite well!
The first thing you’ll see when you open up Scenic Quotes is “Today’s” quote over the top of a background. At the bottom of the screen you’ll see four buttons for navigating the app. The far left button will show you “Today’s” quote, while the button right next to it will show you the previous days quote.
The other two buttons for this app are the “Random” and “Frame Mode” buttons. Random does exactly what you would expect, it changes the backgrounds and shows you a randomly selected quote in front of that background. Probably the coolest thing about this app though is the “Frame Mode” option. When you enter into frame mode the menu bar will disappear and the app will switch to a new quote and a
new background every few seconds!
While this app obviously doesn’t do a whole lot of things, it does manage to do what it was designed for quite well! Something that I was fairly surprised about is that the backgrounds all look great whether they are viewed in portrait or landscape mode! Apparently all of the images have 
been zoomed in slightly so that when you rotate your iPad there is a little bit of extra space you didn’t already see to smooth things out!
My only real complaint about this app is that it could probably use some more background images. While this is not a huge deal, it doesn’t take very long to get through all of the available backgrounds and to start to see some duplicates! Another cool feature to see in this app might be to add customizable transitions to the “Frame mode” much like what you see in the photo app settings dialogue.
So whether you’re just looking for a simple way to be inspired on a daily basis, or you just want to add some beauty to your office environment, Scenic Quotes for iPad may be just the app you’ve been looking for! While my favorite types of apps are typically useful ones, every once in a while it’s nice to download an app and just have fun with it. If you enjoy humor and playing with photos, then SixApp may be the app you’re looking for! The basic idea is that it allows you to add a layer over photos that makes it look like people have a six-pack that really don’t in reality.
The load time for this app was very good for a photo editing app. When you open it up you’re greeted by a start-up splash screen. When you’re ready to get started just touch the “Start” button in the lower right corner of the screen.
The first screen of the app allows you to select a photo by either taking a new one, using one in your photo album, or using one out of your saved images. Once you select a photo you’ll need to select the type of “abs” that you’ll be overlaying on the image. There are three different types for both male and female abs: “Just a bit,” “RIPPED!,” and “Absurd!”.
Once you select a photo and an type you’ll be taken to the “Adjust” screen. From here you can grab and stretch the “abs” to make them fit your photo. Once you get the abs placed exactly where you want them you can also turn on the “erase” feature by touching the
switch in the lower right corner. This will make it so that you can erase little sections that don’t look quite right.
After trying out all the different types of abs, the easiest for me to get to look right were the “Just a bit” abs. It’s also important to note that your results will be very poor if your picture does not have adequate lighting. If 
the lighting is too bright then the abs will look funny, and if you don’t get enough light then you really won’t see much difference.
The last step when you’re finished is sharing the finished product with your friends! The “Save/Share” screen in SixApp offers three links that will let you share your creation through Facebook, your email, or by saving it to your photos folder on your device!
All things considered, while this app doesn’t have a whole lot of functionality, it does do what it’s designed for very well. Because of this fact, and also because of how simple it is, I think SixApp makes a very worthy “gag” app. So what are you waiting for? Check it out in the App Store today for just $0.99!

If you’ve ever watched Texas Hold’em on TV, then you’ve probably noticed the percentages that they show during play. These percentages show how likely it is that a player can still win the hand. Well what if there was an easy way to view these percentages on your
own? What if you could also learn to use this knowledge to play better poker? Well now you can with Royale Poker Odds for the iOS platform!
There are three main options when you open up this app to the main menu. The main part of the app is the “Odds Calculator.” When you touch it the first thing you’ll need to do is enter in your “hole cards.” Entering cards is a 2 touch process. There is a list of all the numbers/face cards at the bottom of the screen. Selecting one of them will bring up all of the remaining cards in the deck of that number to choose from.
Once you enter in your whole cards see the odds that you will win the hand against all of your opponents. This will vary based on how many players you are playing against though, 
and so you can set how many opponents you have by touching the arrows in the upper right corner of the screen.
When you’re ready to go on all you have to do is touch the “Board” button in the lower right corner and then enter in the first three cards in the middle of the table. You’ll be shown a list of all your possible “outs” at the bottom of the screen, as well as the odds that you will get them when the next card is dealt! When you finish a hand it’s easy to start a new one by touching the “New Hand” button in the lower left corner of the screen.
The next option from the main menu of this app is the “Bonus” button. This will take you to a screen that has a variety of different pages related to learning strategy. This page is full of great information for 
novice players, as well as experienced veterans! some of them include strategy on the most commonly played hole cards and learning how to play odds.
In addition to the ability to enter in cards by touching them, you can also add cards by touching the voice recognition button to the left of the other buttons. Once you touch it, it will 
stay toggled on and you can add cards by just saying their names. I was surprised and just how easy and fast it was to enter in cards via speech-recognition. It was so easy I found that I would rather use the speech-recognition than touch the cards to enter them in!
If you’ve been looking for a good way to learn to play better poker, you would be hard pressed to find a better tool than this app. The interface is simple, and it offers a variety of different types of information and strategies! While $4.99 may seem a bit expensive, sometimes you have to pay a little bit for real quality, and I believe that this app is definitely worth the money. Whether you’re looking for a way to kill a little time, or you need a quick distraction for a child, Hot Chicks : With Friends is a game that is fun for all ages! The basic concept is that you control a “chick” as 
it tries to dodge all of the fire falling from the sky. While it may sound simplistic, it is definitely a lot of fun!
One of the things that was evident as I tested this game is the attention the developer gives to detail. From the background music, to the menu system and the graphics, everything about this app adds to the fun “cartoony” feel.
The main menu has several different options. There is a tutorial on how to play, and also on how to set up the “multiplayer” feature and play it as well. When you open up the app for the first time you’ll be asked to either link to your existing “OpenFeint” account or to start a new one. OpenFeint allows you to compare your scores to people around the world, as well as get achievements and network with other friends that have an iPod touch or iPhone!
The “Options” menu has a couple of different things. There is the ability to turn the music and sound effects on and off independently which is very nice! You also get to select a “chick” at this menu from three different options!
Once you’re ready to get started all you have to do is touch the “Play” button and select Single player. You’ll be taken straight to the gameplay screen. To control your “chick” you must tilt your device to the left and to the right.
As you move around there will be fire falling from the
sky and there will gradually be more of it. It will also speed up as you get further in as well. The game keeps two separate scores, “Time” and “Distance.” These two scores are combined to reach your “Total” score.
When you play “multiplayer” the game is similar except you are able to throw bombs at your opponent to try and make them “lose” first. As with a lot of multiplayer games the 
connection works pretty good. It takes just a few seconds to connect and brings a whole new dimension to this game!
This game, like a lot of free apps, is supported by advertising. With that said, if you would rather support the developer directly you can choose to remove the ads through a $0.99 in-app purchase! With that said, if the advertisements don’t bother you you can still have the satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting the developer by view all of the advertisements!
Fast-paced gameplay and simplicity will make this game a winner for many people. There are very few games that are interesting for adults to play, and at the same time are easy enough for any child to play as well. Hot Chicks has managed to do this and make it look easy! Many people immediately write off apps if they have a price tag over about $10-15, but few apps claim to do as much as StudioTrack for iPad! StudioTrack will not only allow you to record audio your iPad, but it will allow to mix it with various other tracks and add effects as well!
When you open up the app you’ll be taken to a screen where you can select a file you’ve been working
on previously, or create a new file altogether. In the bottom right corner of the screen are buttons you can use to duplicate your currently selected file, create a new file or delete a file.
Once you select a project to start working on you’ll be taken to the main mixing screen. You start out with one channel, but more can be added easily by touching the “+ Track” button. Each channel has a volume 
slider, gain knob, a balance knob and a reverb knob. You can also add effects to any channel by touching the “FX” button above all of the knobs and sliders.
If you’re familiar with how recording software works then you’ll be right at home with this app! To start recorder all you have to do is touch the “Rec Arm” button to arm the track 
that you want to record on. You can mute other tracks as well if you don’t want to hear them while you’re recording.
Something to make note of is that the quality of recording with this app is decent when using the built-in mic on the iPad, but if you want to make serious recordings you’ll definitely want to find a way to get a more high-quality mic plugged in to it.
With that said, I myself was very surprised at just how good the recordings were with the built-in mic and this app! That combined with the ability to add effects and record and combine up to 8 separate tracks make this app an incredible experience for musicians of any level. The $39.99 may seem a little pricey, but you’re not going to find anything as useful as this app for anywhere near that price range. So what are you waiting for? Whether you’re at a concert, a party, or just taking photos somewhere, the AirType app by Peter Hartwig is a whole lot of fun! AirType is an app that allows you to swing your iDevice from side to side 
and display a message as you move from side to side in the air. This can can be used to allow people to read your message from a distance, or to take photos with an extremely cool effect in them!
While there are a few other apps that have a similar function to AirType, I must say that this app has one of the most straightforward interfaces that I’ve seen in an app like it! When you open up AirType the first thing you’ll see is the setup screen. Once you get everything set like you want it all you have to do is touch the “AirType IT!” button in the upper right corner and start swinging your device from side to side.
Setting up this app how you want it is easy. You have a text box in the upper left corner of the screen to put the text that you want to scroll on the screen. Below that
there are three different slider bars that control how smoothly the text scrolls, the color of the text, and the speed that the message will scroll.
The top slider bar, “Motion Smoothing,” makes it easier to hold still if you move it more to the left, but if it’s too close to the left then it’s almost impossible to get it to scroll through a larger amount of text. In all honesty I set it all the way to the right to get what I felt was the most useful setting.
There is one other option that you can set in the upper left area of the screen. Here you’ll find a “Use Accelerometer” toggle switch. Setting this switch on will make it so that you have to move your device from side to side to get the to scroll. Setting it off will make the text scroll across your screen automatically without you moving. It also puts more than one character on the screen at a time as it scrolls which makes it easier to read.
At the bottom of the settings screen the developer has a message telling you that it recommends adjusting the brightness of your phone and turning off Automatic Dimming. By doing this you will ensure that
the text is bright enough to be able to blur like in the pictures you see in this review, which will also make it much easier to read!
While the interface is extremely simple, there are a couple of features that I would really like to see the developers consider adding to this app. The first would be the ability to use multiple colors on the same message. Another thing that would be nice is to have the ability to change the font and font size of what is being displayed. While I did not have any trouble reading the messages scrolled with this app, it would still be nice to have more control over how it displays.
All things considered, this app is probably one of the most functional apps of its type! This is a direct result of the developers focusing on simplicity, and on the utility of it’s settings screen. With that said $1.99 does seem a little bit expensive (at least according according to App Store standards) for an app that has pretty limited functionality. With that said, if photography and the other potential uses for this app are something that you are interested in, I could definitely see this app being worth it! Everyone has those days when we need a little inspiration to keep us going. Enter the “Well Said” app by Sung J. Shin! Well Said is a compilation of famous quotes from various historical figures. There is a free lite version of this app with over 100 quotes, and a paid version for just $0.99 with over 1500 quotes from almost 150 different authors!
The interface for this app is simple, but at the same
time powerful. A lot of apps like this one simply bring up random quotes, or give you a list of quotes, but this one gives you multiple ways to view them, including a “Search” function! The main menu lists all of the different ways that you can view the apps, as well as giving you links to where you can edit your list of favorite quotes or even add your own quotes to the database.
When you touch any of the top three menu options you’ll be taken to the appropriate screen for viewing quotes. At the bottom of the screens is a menu bar that allows you to quickly switch between how you are view quotes, or view your list of favorite quotes. At the top of both the 
“Authors” page and the “Subjects” page is a search bar to quickly find what you’re looking for as well!
While there is a search function built into the individual quote pages, what really sets this app part is the Search page. From here you can search not only by Author and Subject, but you can also search the text of the quotes. This is really nice if you’re trying to find a quote on a specific topic and you don’t find a subject that fits what you’re looking for.
Once you find a quote to view or use the “Random Quotes” method to bring one up you’ll be taken to a screen that displays the category of the quote, the quote itself, and the author of the quote. If you’d like more information on the author of the quote, all you have to do is touch the “Bio” button in the lower left corner of the screen. This will bring up a brief bio about that author and also give you the option to view the wikipedia entry about them as well!
The bio’s are short and sweet, giving you a few details on who they are and when they lived. I did have an issue with view the related wikipedia entries within the app. When you choose to view wikipedia it 
opens up a browser window within the app, but the resolution squashes the entry and makes it appear a little bit jumbled on the screen. I was still able to read the entires, but it just looked a little bit funny.
Along the bottom of the screen where you view quotes is a bar that offers several different methods for sharing the quotes with friends! From left to right you can email a quote, tweet
a quote on Twitter, post it to your wall, or take a picture of the quote. You can also add or remove quotes from your favorites list by touching the button in the lower right corner of the screen.
For the most part this app runs very smoothly, and it offers a lot of thought-provoking quotes as well. If you’re still not sure if you want to spend any money on it, I’d recommend downloading the “Lite” version of the app and checking out the basic interface! With that said, I think that for just $0.99 this app is definitely worth it for someone that enjoys famous quotes. If you spend a lot of time looking up quotes to post on your Facebook or Twitter then what are you waiting for? Head to the App Store and download the Well Said app today!

New iPhone Puzzle Game Captures Passion of World Cup

Kick’n’Mix Ltd are pleased to announce the launch of the first edition of their innovative, soccer-themed puzzle game for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Kick’n’Mix: World Championship 2010 Edition is a seemingly simple tile puzzle game, where you swap and rotate nine tiles to reassemble a shuffled pattern.
But don’t be fooled. There are nearly a hundred billion wrong answers and the pattern only lines up one way. Nearly solving it is frustratingly easy – beating it is quite a challenge.
“We’ve created a fun game that looks easy, but can actually keep you puzzling over it for hours!”, said inventor Russell Pointon.
“We first made the game tiles out of cardboard for a promotional giveaway item, but having seen how passionate the people who’d played it became, the opportunity to make this puzzle available to millions of iPhone users was too good to pass up”, he explained.
The mobile game includes 64 different puzzles to solve. In addition to 32 signature Kick’n’Mix puzzles, styled after each of the football teams taking part in the World Cup finals, there are 32 “training” levels with simple, bold designs that capture each nation’s pride. Those puzzles serve as a quick-to-solve introduction to the game, or as part of a speed challenge with online leaderboards.
“This game fits the mobile format perfectly, and the iPhone’s high quality touchscreen let us make a tactile game with striking visuals”, said lead programmer Chris Newman.
“The inclusion of the the easier levels means you can pick up the phone and play a complete game in under a minute – and then immediately share your score with friends on Facebook”, he added.
Kick’n’Mix has already attracted interest from high-profile licensing partners and branded versions are in the pipeline. You may find your football club in a Kick’n’Mix game next season!

Review – “Fun and challenging card game on the go”

I’ve never played the card game Golf before, so going in I had to spend a few moments in the instructions screen figuring out the object and game play of this particular App. Luckily, the developer at the foresight to include detailed, but easy to understand, help and instructions on how to play Golf.
Basically it’s a card-swap game, where the object is to end up with the least number of points. Makes sense, and is rather easy. However, the game has several levels of difficultly, ranging from very fun, to really challenging. This App will help keep your memory sharp as the game play progresses, especially as at any time one of the other ‘Players’ can end the round.
Luckily, the App is created beautifully, the design and layout, the graphics and speed are all ideally suited to a medium-paced card game (however for those who need more time, or are quick thinkers, you can adjust the game play speed. One round of 9 ‘Holes’ can last from 5-10 minutes, I’d say. Ideally suited for a quick game during busy commutes or waiting in line at the post office, or what have you. For longer rounds, you can select the full 18 Holes and enjoy yourself for much longer.
As it turns out, on my very first round I didn’t fare too badly, and came in second place. So although this game a little more complex than the average Solitaire game, it’s pretty easy to pick up on quickly. I’m sure after a few more tries I’ll come up with better strategies and hopefully my memory will be sharper too.
I mention Solitaire because this game is ideally suited to all of those Solitaire players out there who are looking for something a bit different, and for only a dollar, you really can’t go wrong here. The only feature lacking I’d say is a Multi-player element, where you can pass the iPhone around for others to be included instead of always having to play the ‘Computer’. There are lots of card games on the App Store to choose from, but if you’re interested in something that will keep your memory sharp and will actually challenge you again and again. You won’t get bored.
