Whether you’re looking to buy a new house, or you’re looking at refinancing a property, wouldn’t it be great to be able to figure out what a loan would look like anywhere on your phone? Well now you can 
with a $0.99 app called “Mortgage Calculator – The Amortizer” for the iOS!
The app itself is pretty simple. To calculate the costs of a loan just touch the “+” button in the upper right corner of the screen and fill out the information that you see on the screen. 
You’ll need to enter the purchase amount, down payment, interest rate, loan term, etc., and then touch the “Calculate” button in the upper right corner of the screen to figure out the costs associated with the proposed loan.
In addition to calculating the actual mortgage cost, you can also add in your escrow as well to get a more accurate number. To do that just touch the “Add Escrow Cost” button at the bottom of the loan information screen. You can then enter in each cost that is a part of your escrow individually, or you can add the total amount of your current escrow if you choose.
The loan breakdown that you get once you’ve calculated it offers a variety of interesting information. It 
calculates the total interest that you’ll pay on the loan, the total amount that you will pay on the loan if it goes as scheduled, and a breakdown of how much you will pay each month towards
the interest and principal of the loan!
Another great feature of the app is the ability to generate PDF’s of the loan information and email them to anyone! To do this just touch the “Email PDF” button in the upper right corner of the screen. You’ll get the choice of whether or not to include the amortization schedule or not, and then you’ll be taken directly to a form email with the PDF attached to it.
My personal experience with this app is that it made it very easy to get quick figures on what a loan will cost you. Unfortunately what it does not have is a way to calculate what it will cost you to refinance a loan. With that said, the app is only $0.99, and the PDF email feature is a great way to share loan figures with people while on the go. Whether you’re prank calling people, or you just want to freak out a friend apparently “there’s an app for that!” Funny Call is an app that allows you to alter the sound of your voice when you make a phone call from within the app. The app is free to try out and 
then has several different price points that you can buy more minutes at.
When you open the app, you’ll start out at the main screen. There are a variety of different “voices” that you can choose from. Once you’ve selected a voice, the app actually starts out in “preview” mode so you can hear what it sounds like on your own voice! The app also tells you that you need to use headphones to get the best results.
Once you’ve got your voice ready and you’re ready to make a call just touch the “Place a Call” button at the bottom of the screen. When you do you’ll see 
a dialer on the screen. In the upper right corner of the screen is a “Contacts” button that will allow you to dial anyone from your contacts list.
I found that the phone call’s from this app took a little bit longer than a typical call to connect. The calls were definitely high quality though, and there were no noticeable glitches in the audio once I was connected. At any time you can go back to the voice
select screen by touching the “Effects” button in the lower right corner of the screen!
The variety of voices in this app is also a good selling point. There are a ton of different voices from “Creepy,” and “Low” to voices like “Chipmunk,” and “Cyborgs”. My favorite voice was probably the “Creepy” voice, but there are several other good ones to choose from.
While I would recommend this app to anyone just to try out, it can get pricey very quickly if you choose to buy more minutes and continue to use it. Currently minutes are selling for $0.99 for 3, 4.99 for 30 minutes and $9.99 for 60 minutes! With that said, the app is free to try, and the true prankster within may just find that it’s worth it in the long run!

If you’re looking for a good way to get used to touching exactly
where you want to on your iPhone you may want to check out Touch Chaos. The basic idea is that you see randomly colored balls flying around the screen, and you have have to touch certain colors as quickly as possible. It may sound simple, but as you get further in, and the balls get more active it gets pretty crazy!
The main menu when you open up Touch Chaos is really simple. There are three buttons: Play, Scores, and Tutorial. The tutorial is just a text-based 
explanation of how to play the game. To be honest though most people wouldn’t even need it because the game itself is extremely simple.
Once you’re ready to get started just touch the “Play” button. You’ll be taken to a blank screen with 3 or 4 balls on it to start with. Around the edge of this screen there will be a border that is the color of one or more of the balls on the screen. Your objective is to touch all of the balls that are the same color as the border. Be careful though because the border does change quite frequently!
For every ball that you touch correctly you get points. If you touch a ball that is the wrong color it will turn black and start counting down from 5. If you do not touch that ball within 5 seconds then it will explode and you lose. You will also randomly see black balls like this fly in from the edge of the scree and you’ll need to make sure that they don’t explode either!
At the very beginning there are not very many balls and they all move pretty slowly, but that changes 
very quickly! In the upper left corner of the screen you’ll see a number that represents how many points you’ve accumulated in your current game, and in the upper right corner you’ll see what level you’re currently on.
When you finish a game you’ll see a summary of your performance. It shows you your score, level, how many 
balls you touched, how many times you missed and your Accuracy! From this screen you can choose to play again or go back to the menu.
One thing that I would really like to see added to this game is some kind of global high-scores feature. While it is definitely fun to compete against yourself and to see how high you can score, it’s hard to beat human competition! With that said, the high score feature is pretty simple and it keeps track of your scores quite well!
Overall this game is just a lot of fun, and best of all it’s the kind of game that you can really pick up and play for just a few minutes! Whether you’re looking for a quick game to pass some time, or you just want to work on your touch accuracy, I’d encourage you to give Touch Chaos a look. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Review – “Familiar shapes in a new type of puzzle game!”
Tetrapped is a puzzle game that is designed to really make you think. There are no timers or score, it’s just how many moves will it take you to solve the puzzle! The basic idea is that you are given various shaped pieces inside a box and you have to move them 
around each other to get a certain piece in a certain place. While it may sound simple, it can be extremely confusing!
The man menu screen is simple, and yet creative. The main menu is made up of 4 blocks of various shapes that make up your menu options. To get started just touch the “Play” button at the top and you’ll be taken to a tutorial the first time that you do so. Once you finish the tutorial you’ll be taken to the first level. The game defaults to a 6×6 board the first time that you play but there are two other sizes: 7×7 and 8×8 that make it more difficult!
Every time you start a new level you’ll see the “target” block start out where it goes and then move somewhere else. Once that block is in place it is surrounded by some other
blocks of random shapes. At the top of the screen you’ll see a box that shows how many moves you’ve made and your best score on that level if you’ve already completed it.
To play the game all you have to do is grab the block you want to move and drag it where you want it. You can only move blocks in one direction in 1 “move,” but they can be moved in any direction. The levels are all designed to make you think, and some of them are actually very easy if you think a little outside of the box.
There are three buttons at the bottom of the screen that will take you back to the home screen, allow you to select a new level, or restart the current level you’re working on. Whether you bring up the level select from in-game or through the option at the main menu, you’ll be given a list of the different board sizes to choose from first, and then you’ll be taken to the list of levels for the on you choose.
There are a few basic options that you can set under the “settings” button from the main menu of this 
game. They include the ability to turn certain sound effects on/off, change the color scheme and reset your stats. There is also an option to turn “Auto Advance” on/off. This will send you straight to the next level when you finish when it’s on, or just stay at the finished screen till you do something if it’s off.
The basic concept of the game feels somehow familiar, but at the same time new. One thing that seems to be
missing is a “competition” factor. It would be cool to be able to see the minimum number of moves that are required to solve a particular puzzle. This would give you a number to shoot for and would make the amount of moves that you solve a puzzle in mean a little more.
While I have played a couple of other games that use a concept similar to this game, the “Tetris” shapes really add a new twist that I had not seen before. There is plenty of challenge in this game and it has hundreds of levels that will test your patience for hours on end! The game is currently available for $0.99 and I would definitely recommend it if you need something to pass some time, or if you just enjoy games that make you think.

I found that one of the most irritating things in college was trying to keep up with some of my professors taking notes. There’s just so much information in some classes that sometimes it’s hard to decide what you need to write down. If you have one of those classes you may want to check out Audio Class Notes Free on your iPhone or iPod Touch!
When you open up the app the first thing you’ll see is a menu with three options. You can “Record a new file,” “Play A Recorded File,” or view and edit preferences in the “Options” menu. Inside the options menu you’ll see buttons to select the recording quality, 
remove all data from the app, and to add/remove “Classes” which is how all of your recordings are organized!
Once you’re ready to start recording you’ll need to make sure you’ve set up the class that you’re recording notes for, and then touch the “Record a new file” button. To start recording just touch the “Record” button in the upper left corner. At any time you can pause recording, or when you’re finished just touch the stop button stop and save it. You’ll be asked for a name for the recording, and if you don’t give it one then it will be named “Recording #?”.
Once you’ve recorded your class notes to review them later just touch the “Play A Recorded File” button. You’ll be given a list of all the files that you currently have. You can remove items from the list by swiping and touching the “Delete” button that 
comes up, or by touching the “Delete Mode” button in the lower right corner and using the “-” buttons to the left of the recordings.
To play a recording just touch it and you’ll open the the playback screen. From here you can not only listen to your recordings, but you can also tag certain parts so that you can quickly find them later. This is extremely easy to do, my only comment would be that there really needs to be a way to delete “tags” just in case you add 
one in a place where you didn’t want it, or you named it wrong.
All things aside this is a very useful app, and I was very impressed with how well this app was able to pick up people’s voices, even at a distance. Best of all though it’s totally free! The only thing you’ll have to deal with are the ads that you see at the top of the screen. They are not obtrusive though, and if you choose to view them they are Apple’s new “iAds” so you don’t have to leave the app to check them out!
If you’ve been looking for a voice recording app similar to this one, there is no reason that you shouldn’t at least give this a try. While there may be apps out there with a few extra “bells and whistles,” it is very doubtful that you’ll be able to find a better, easier to use app than this one for free. Review – “Creative twist on Brick-breakers”
When I got my first iPhone, one of the first games that I looked
for was a “block-breaker” game. Since that time I have seen a lot of these games. While most of them are fun, after a while they all feel kind of the same. While at first I wasn’t sure if I liked it, Arkinvade definitely has a different feel to it. From the way the ball reflects off the paddle down to the large 
variety of power-ups and creatures attacking, the game manages to stay interesting.
The first time you start up Arkinvade you’ll want to link it to your OpenFeint profile if you have one. This will allow you to compare your scores with friends and people all around the world. There are also several achievements that you can work to get and show off as well.
The main menu was a little bit confusing at first, there is a play button in the center of the screen with the OpenFeint logo just below it. At the top of the screen is where it gets a little confusing. There are 6 little buttons that were a little bit hard to see at first. There’s not much description on them, but touching them will bring up various menu 
options that cover everything from the control scheme, to the sound effects and and options to restore a game that you have previously quit out of.
Once you’re ready to get started just touch the play button and you’ll be taken to the main game screen. The default control scheme is to use the accelerometer to move your paddle, and all 3 controls schemes have little buttons in the lower right and left corners to make the ball start moving. The other two control schemes either give you 2 directional buttons or allow you to control your paddle by touching and dragging it.
The object of the game is, as expected, to destroy all of the blocks on the screen. As you play the game you’ll find that some blocks are destroyed in one hit, while others may take several. Throughout the game you’ll also find large green blocks that release bad guys when they are destroyed. The bad guys fire bullets that freeze your paddle for a short time and come after you just like the bad guys in Space Invaders.
One thing that I noticed as I was playing this game is that the physics seemed a little different than you would expect in most of these games. If the ball is already moving from left to right pretty fast and you 
bump it with the left side of your paddle, the momentum that the ball has effects it a lot more than in most games that I’ve played. This makes the game interesting and adds a little more challenge to it as well.
The best thing about this game though is the variety that has been added to the gameplay. There are tons of different power-ups that do all kinds of things from making your paddle bigger, giving you more than one ball to destroy blocks with, set your ball on fire and make it literally cut right through all of the blocks, and even give your paddle firepower temporarily. Beware though because not all of the icons you see will help you. There are a few that will make things more difficult and/or even kill your current life.
Overall, I think that this game has the potential to be a real top-seller if just a few small issues are addressed in future updates. The first is that the game really needs a screen that shows
you all of the icons that you can collect and tells you what they do. It’s a little bit frustrating to grab an icon that you’ve never seen before and have it kill you.
The second thing is that the game needs better support for continuing your game. It took me a while to even figure out that it was possible. This could be easily remedied by either asking the user if they want to continue their previously exited game, or by adding quick-launch multitasking that brings up the app where you left off. Although just changing the menu a little bit and making it more obvious what options you do have would work just fine as well.
With that said, the game is a lot of fun once you get everything figured out, and it is currently available in the iTunes App Store for just $0.99. If you’re a fan of brick-breaking games, this is one of the most engaging games I’ve played of that type. AppZapp has been around for quite a while and has brought us apps like “Do Not Press The Red Button”, and many more. They have somewhere around 20 apps in their catalog for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, and they have released a new app to try and sort through it all: Discover the App Store.
AppZapp has released a new app to easily guide you through the AppStore. “Discover the App Store“ is an easy walk through all the apps has to offer, with a simple easy interface. AppZapp also has a “PriceAlarm“ function, that will always inform you of sales or promotions of certain apps you love. You just set up a free account, and select the Apps you want to monitor.
“Discover the App Store” is a great tool to help you find what your looking for in the App Store. It features the same great descriptions and details you’ve come to know from the App Store. It supports App Stores in the US, UK, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

This is a great app for monitoring the App Store. Something the is missing from the actual App Store. Being able to keep an eye on certain apps that you may find a little pricey, and know when there are going on sale, is a terrific feature, that will probably never be included by Apple. The “Changes and Updates at a glance” feature is great, if you’re interested in knowing what has recently been updated, or want to ignore updates and focus on new releases only. Seeing as this app is free, there is no reason we cannot recommend this app.

Review – “Find and book hotel rooms from your phone!”
Do you travel a lot? If so you’d probably be happy to have an easy way to book hotel rooms without talking to a hotel representative! ToucHotel uses an extremely basic search feature to quickly connect you with hotels in the area that you’ll be staying in!
When you open up ToucHotel you’ll see a search bar at the top of the screen. Below that search bar is a list of all of your recent searches if you have any yet. To find a hotel in your area all you have to do is type the name of the city in the search bar
at the top of the screen. Once you do a list of matching results will show up below, and all you have to do is touch one of them to view all of the hotels in that city!
When you touch a city to search inside you’ll be taken to a screen with two scroll-wheels. You can use these to select what day you’ll be arriving and how many days you plan on staying. Once 
you have it all set up just touch the “Search Hotels” button at the bottom of the screen.
One thing that I noticed pretty quickly with this app is that there is no way to specify what state you are searching for a city in. For example; there are 39 “Springfield”’s in the United States, but if you search for Springfield you’ll only be shown results for one of them.
With that said, if you do find a hotel that you’re interested in the city you’re aiming for all you have to do is touch it to bring up a screen full of information on it. At the top of this screen is a picture (which you can click on to see more), the name of the hotel, the Hotel’s rating, and four buttons to access info about the hotel, a map of where it is, photos and to share information on the hotel with someone!
At the bottom of every hotel screen you’ll see a list of room types that are available with their current price. Touching any of them will bring up a confirmation screen that will tell you everything about the 
room and offer a link to a page where you can actually book the room! All you’ll have to do is enter a name and a credit/debit card to reserve the room, so do that and then touch
the “Book now” button at the bottom of the screen.
My overall impressions of this app were that it is very easy to pick up and use quickly. However, if you have difficulty locating the right hotel(s) in the right cities there is not really any way to do an “advanced search.” You’ll just have to scroll through the results until you can find what you’re looking for!
All things said, the app is free, and does do what it claims to do! If you’ve been looking for the easiest/quickest way to book a room this may be what you’re looking for. If; however, you’re looking for an extremely powerful tool to locate and compare hotel rooms worldwide you may want to check out ToucHotel for free in the App Store today!

If you’ve got a regular workout routine and stairs are something that are included in it, you may want to check out iStair. iStair is an app that will count how many steps you’ve taken for you! How does it accomplish this you ask? Through the use of the iPhone’s built-in accelerometer!
When you open up this app you’re taken straight to the main screen. At the top you’ll see a large number that shows how many steps you’ve taken, and just below is a “Reset” button 
and a “i” button. To use the app you’re supposed to just hold it in your hand as you walk up the stairs. I was kind of expecting the app to ask me to just put it in my pocket, but holding it makes more sense if you really want an accurate count!
At any time you can restart your step count by touching the “Reset” button. Touching the “i” button will bring up a screen that describes how to properly use the app. There is also a “Sensitivity’ meter here as well. By default the meter is set in the middle and is set at the ideal sensitivity, based on an average person’s step.
There’s not really much else to this app, but it does what it’s designed to do well. If you’re workout routine regularly includes steps (whether on a machine or on real steps) you may want to check out iStair. This app can make keeping track of your workout as easy as holding your phone as you walk! So what are you waiting for? Head to the App Store today and check it out for yourself today!

In the vast sea of apps in the App Store, it is often the most simple apps that are the most fun and get the most use. I’m always on the look out for something simple to play with, that doesn’t take too much thought, but is fun to goof around with, while watching TV or something.
Developer Croesus-Mode has released an app called KaleidoBalls. You can create color balls by touching the screen and dragging your finger across screen to create more color balls and animations. Ball color is based on screen position and varies as screen is touched multiple times. The balls are animated in the order they are created, and keep repeating, to get a kaleidoscope effect.
You shake the device to clear the screen and start over. Tap to add dots, swipe to make swirls, or whatever you want. Check out our video to see it in action.
