Very few people in this world get to avoid having to worry, in some fashion, about their personal finances. From the poorest of us to the richest of us, each of us has some form of income, and most of us have a major need to identify and maintain that income. Thankfully, the 21st century has tools that never before have been available. iCompta, a personal finance application for the iDevice line up, might just be able to help.

Regardless of if your household is running off of one income, or if there are 5 – 10 revenue streams that need to be tracked, iCompta provides advanced tracking and monitoring for even the most rigorous user. Whether it be accounts, budgets, or individual people in the household, iCompta can track each of these in various methods.

To make things easier, account activity can be downloaded from your banking institution into iCompta, alleviating the need for individual transaction input. This does require a wifi connection. Full integration is allowed with the iCompta Mac OSX program, making it that much easier for long time users, or an added level of tracking for newer ones.

Security is a major issue, so iCompta proves an encryption option within the app, for an added layer of security in case the device would become misplaced. This allows for the convenience of more detailed information being included in the app, better tracking, and complete assurance that your information will stay safe.

The real draw to iCompta for me wasn’t so much its finance tracking, as there are plenty of apps that do that. I was most intrigued with the apps ability to identify income and expenses by individual, and by percentage. This allows for multi-person dwellings where maybe a certain percentage of each bill is split to be accurately identified each month automatically. iCompta allows for multiple individuals to be entered into the system, including personal bank information complete with options to provide notifications in case current amount goes low.

Adding a new account in iCompta is extremely easy. With one touch a menu comes up with clear descriptions for ease of use. A new account is titled, and then initial balances, positive or negative, currency, USD or any number of customizable currencies, and a whole slew of additional information, including who is responsible for the account. Once all of that is set, iCompta downloads the information from your bank account. Budgeting options help users further keep track of their financial health by providing tools to assist in developing and maintaining a positive balance in the bank account. This is done in much the same way as the account creation.

The real icing on the cake is iCompta’s superior reporting tools, including detailed graphs and charts to help users track their revenue and expenses in different time periods, using different criteria, all in hopes of assisting with the complex task of personal financial management.

iCompta can provide a certain level of challenge when first using the application. Make sure to have a wifi connection when setting the accounts up, as it doesn’t seem to work with 3G connections. The help support is all online, but is built directly into the app for quick retrieval. If you’re looking for a powerful finance tool, iCompta has the potential to fill that need. You can pick it up for $4.99 or check out the light version to make absolutely sure it fits your need.

NOTE: The app is completely in English but I have provided pictures directly from the app store to show a fully developed use of this app.

AllMyShares: Your One Stop Stock Spot

AllMyShares: Your One Stop Stock Spot is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Price: $3.99   Score: 8/10   By Anna PapachristosAllMyShares

The Stock Market has to be one of the most confusing things in existence.  With more ups and downs than the traditional roller coaster, it’s no wonder it has been in a state of flux lately.  But your shares don’t to cause quite a conundrum.

AllMyShares by Milestone Computing Pty Ltd helps users maintain all their share investments and dividends, past and present, combined with a variety of analysis tools that chart and textually report performance over time.  The analysis of multiple portfolios, along with an overall summary of your statistics, provides users with a convenient total figure marking how much cash has been gained or lost over their entire stock history, or with a particular stock.

With automatic currency conversions, AllMyShares accommodates stock markets in: the USA, the UK, Australia, Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Users can monitor the market value of any of their shares throughout the day.  They may also create what AllMyShares calls “virtual portfolios” or “watch lists” featuring stocks of interests for the sake of educational purposes, even though they personally have no cash invested in them.  Users even have the ability to narrow their tracking down to a specific portfolio for a specific company, zeroing in on individual transactions and dividends.  Users can even access dividend reports dated within a specific range, which, as the App Store description highlights, will certainly come in handy at tax time.

Simple to set up, AllMyShares require no user registration or login for all your information is stored privately on your device.

Yahoo! Finance provides all stock market data seen within AllMyShares.  Quotes may be delayed by 20 minutes.  Also, while AllMyShares provides a great convenience as an organizational tool for information that can otherwise become quite puzzling, they warn that they promise no guarantees or warranties that the information displayed is accurate.  This surely comes from the fact that they, the developers, depend on the stock market information from a third-party source, such as Yahoo! Finance, and must therefore make sure their users know that any faulty information is not their responsibility, but that of the information provider.  But such caution must be taken no matter where you get your information from, of course.

And no matter what discrepancies may arise, there is no denying that AllMyShares is indeed a very handy app for anyone with great investment in the stock market.  The better you track your investments, the more likely you are to see a higher cash gain, and what better way to track them than all in one place?

AllMyShares requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer in order to speed up the publication of this review.

Review – “Extend your iPhone’s utility with APPtility!”

APPtilities 65 in 1 1 200x300 APPtilities iPhone App ReviewHave you noticed that a lot of the good utility apps cost money? Well what if I were to tell you that you could get over 65 different apps for just $0.99? Well that’s exactly what you get when you download APPtilities | 65+ in 1 onto your “iDevice!” It has everything from social network interfaces to camera and systemAPPtilities 65 in 1 2 200x300 APPtilities iPhone App Reviewinformation apps; over 65 of them total!

When you open APPtilities, the main menu is set up a lot like the dashboard on your iDevice! You can easily rearrange and delete apps by touching and holding an app to enter the app management mode and either dragging icons to a new location, or touching the little “x” to delete that app.

APPtilities 65 in 1 3 200x300 APPtilities iPhone App ReviewThe great thing about a lot of the apps included in APPtilities is how simple they are! For example, the voice memo app just has aAPPtilities 65 in 1 4 200x300 APPtilities iPhone App Review “+” button to add new memos. Removing them is as simple as swiping and touching the “Delete” button that pops up! The camera app is also pretty basic. It adds a little bit of extra functionality, without making the interface complicated!

All of the utilities that I tried had very simple to learn controls, and the developers added one more feature that I think a lot of people will really appreciate! If you go to the last screen you’ll see a “Web Apps” icon. Touching this icon will bring up a web browser. All you have to do is browse to the web app you want to use later with this browser and touch the “Add Shortcut” button in the bottom right corner of the screen. Once you do that all you have to do is type in a name for the web app and it will appear in the APPtilities dashboard as another app!

Another great feature is the ability to create one-touch buttons for getting in contact with people! To do this all you have to do is open up the “Shortcuts” icon that starts out by default on the last screen, next to the “Web Apps” icon. You can set these buttons to call, email, or sms any contact in your address books and they are a great way to stay in contact with people!

What I came to find is that the more I played with this app, the more features I became fond of! Something that shouldn’t be taken for granted either is the fact that this app can save you a lot of time if you just need something quickly and don’t want to install another app for it. If you’ve ever considered buying any of the cheap little utilities like calculators, RSS readers, metronomes, and dictionary’s that the App Store has to offer, but you decided against it because of price this is really a no-brainer. So if you’re still reading this, what are you waiting for? Download your copy of APPtilities today for the $0.99 from the App Store!

Want to Take Your Money through a Time Machine? DimeTravel Is the App for That..

Want to Take Your Money through a Time Machine? DimeTravel Is the App for That.. is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Mobile Photo Apr 24, 2010 9 31 32 PMOh, infaltion, thou art a wretched beast. A dollar fifty years ago is not the same as a dollar today—just look at the concept of a dime store to tell you that much. DimeTravel is the app to tell you exactly how your money has changed over time. Here’s the developer’s take on a typical usage scenario:

You’re watching an old episode of Columbo on a lazy Sunday afternoon. An episode from 1976. He gets a haircut and it costs him $25. He is shocked with the cost. You open up DimeTravel and ask it how much $25 from 1976 would be today. (answer = almost $100 – NOW i can feel poor old Columbo’s pain).

Pretty staggering, no? Of course, the app can calculate things the other way around, too. Here are a few samples for your amusement, with the numbers taken from this site:

  • Coffee cost $1.11/lb in 1954…which is $14.47 today!
  • A car (a Henry J, to be precise) for sale in New Jersey in 1950 was listed at $1,299…which is a whopping $27,771 today.
  • $1 bought you two large bottles of Clorox Bleach in 1970…that would be $9.55 today.
  • Someone needed an accountant and was willing to pay a $9,000 annual salary in 1970…or $85,942 in today’s money!

Conversely, if you take modern numbers and change them:

  • A $60 video game would sell for a paltry $4.92 half a century ago,
  • and that $200 you spent on your iPhone 3GS would have been just $153 back in 2000.

Playing with numbers is always fun. Sadly, DimeTravel only goes back to 1948 for us Americans. I don’t know why—Wolfram Alpha can handle prior centuries just fine—but even with the current data, it’s still nifty to look at these numbers! And you can look at them, too, because DimeTravel displays the path of inflation as a nice graph. If you’re a sucker for realizing how transient your money is, go ahead and give DimeTravel a look. And more importantly, invest your remaining money wisely, because if you leave it under your mattress, it’s likely to vanish into grasp of good ol’ inflation.
