Team Phobic’s ‘GravBot’ Drops Into the App Store
NinJump Gets iPad Version and a Planned Content Expansion
NinJump Gets iPad Version and a Planned Content Expansion is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Backflip Studios are going all-out in unleashing their lineup of freemium games onto the App Store. After launching Buganoids on both the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad last week, Backflip Studios is now going through their back catalog of games released this summer, with NinJump now getting an iPad version, appropriately called NinJump HD.
NinJump HD is the same game as the iPhone/iPod touch version, just now with graphics and gameplay optimized for the iPad. The game really does look much more detailed and crisp than the original version did scaled up to 2X. As well, for players who may have been playing on their iPad and may occasionally have missed a jump due to tapping on the blank part of the screen in 2X scaling, you won’t have this problem any more. While it may have been coincidental, I set a new high score the first time I played the iPad version.
Speaking of high scores, the game is similar to Buganoids where high scores are synchronized between the two versions, so you can track your high scores on whatever device you play on, as long as you use the same OpenFeint login. All the OpenFeint leaderboards are the same as the iPhone version, as evidenced by the over one million entries present before the iPad version was publicly available.
NinJump HD is currently free (with the possibility of being a paid download in the future, according to Backflip Studios), with $0.99 in-app purchase to remove ads, similar to other Backflip Studios freemium games. However, the game may go to paid at some point according to CEO Julian Farrior, so downloading it now is recommended. The gameplay is the same great addictive ninja jumping action that the iPhone version presented, just now in iPad form.
Backflip were also kind enough to drop some details on the future of NinJump. First, Android will be getting a free version of NinJump later this year. As well, a new paid version of NinJump will be released, expanding on what the original free version presented, featuring “new levels, enemies and other content, with plans to add frequent updates on a regular basis” according to Backflip Studios CEO Julian Farrior. NinJump fans could have a lot to look forward to in the coming months for their ninja jumping game of choice.

New Apps Assure What Happens in Vegas, Well, You Know…
New Apps Assure What Happens in Vegas, Well, You Know… is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Nestled in middle of the desolate Nevada desert rests a little oasis that is best described in a quote by one Obi Wan Kenobi: “You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.” While that could be used to describe the city’s seedy, mob ruled past, people prefer to just shorten it up and call it by the much sexier, “Sin City.” After all, the “City That Never Sleeps,” was already taken, and the tourism board thought that, “City that Shouldn’t be Visited by Epileptics After Dark” seemed too long to fit on a brochure.
With the city’s newly adopted “cleaner” demeanor, the ARIA Resort and Casino has decided to make the experience of being a tourist that much more efficient by releasing three groundbreaking apps meant to put the city at your fingertips.

ARIA
Considering how massive resorts are getting nowadays, it only seems like common sense to have an application that at least acts as a map for the haphazardly navigating visitor. Not only will you be able to find your way around with relative ease, but you can also make reservations at your establishment of choice, all without ever leaving the program. If your meal left an impression on you, there is even an option to rate your location, so that others can see what you thought. At the end of a tough day, you can even use the tool to hail the aid of concierge service, which is always at your beck and call. Talk about being in total control!

CityCenter Fine Art Collection
Scattered throughout the sprawling ARIA Resort are numerous pieces of art, strewn about. Think that wall near you looks odd and maybe even out of the ordinary? You can use this app to verify if in fact what you’re looking at is a work of art, or just the pipe dream of an overambitious interior decorator. With a collection that is made up of contributions from fifteen different artists, you can make a scavenger hunt out of art watching. That sure sounds like a heck of alot more entertaining than looking at a painting from behind a velvet rope.

Vegas Reality
In what is probably the most useful software of the trio, Vegas Reality is your one stop shop for information about everything on the Strip. Through a simple scan of an image, you will get updated information about what you are looking at, how to book reservations, and interesting anecdotal facts about the location in question. Those that are navigationally challenged, like yours truly, something like this would be irreplaceable as I attempt to stagger from casino to casino, looking for my chance to finally hit it big.

Freebie Alert: ‘Galaxy on Fire 3D’ – Don’t Miss This One
Freebie Alert: ‘Galaxy on Fire 3D’ – Don’t Miss This One is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
If you've found yourself excited by all the coverage of Galaxy on Fire 2 lately between the initial set of screenshots, the WWDC hands-on, the teaser trailer, and finally the full trailer, this is a freebie you won't want to miss. Galaxy on Fire 3D was released in early 2009, and includes over 20 hours of space shootin' and tradin' gameplay. It feels a little dated compared to more recent shooters, but that doesn't make the game any less fun to play through.
Galaxy on Fire 2 is scheduled for release this October, and while I doubt that playing through the first one will be at all required to enjoy the second… There's no reason not to give this game a try, especially while it's free.
Mortgage Calculator – The Amortizer – iPhone App Review
Mortgage Calculator – The Amortizer – iPhone App Review is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Mortgage Calculator – The Amortizer ($0.99)
Version – 1.1
Review – “A great app for homebuyers and homeowners looking to refinance!”
Whether you’re looking to buy a new house, or you’re looking at refinancing a property, wouldn’t it be great to be able to figure out what a loan would look like anywhere on your phone? Well now you can
with a $0.99 app called “Mortgage Calculator – The Amortizer” for the iOS!
The app itself is pretty simple. To calculate the costs of a loan just touch the “+” button in the upper right corner of the screen and fill out the information that you see on the screen.
You’ll need to enter the purchase amount, down payment, interest rate, loan term, etc., and then touch the “Calculate” button in the upper right corner of the screen to figure out the costs associated with the proposed loan.
In addition to calculating the actual mortgage cost, you can also add in your escrow as well to get a more accurate number. To do that just touch the “Add Escrow Cost” button at the bottom of the loan information screen. You can then enter in each cost that is a part of your escrow individually, or you can add the total amount of your current escrow if you choose.
The loan breakdown that you get once you’ve calculated it offers a variety of interesting information. It
calculates the total interest that you’ll pay on the loan, the total amount that you will pay on the loan if it goes as scheduled, and a breakdown of how much you will pay each month towards
the interest and principal of the loan!
Another great feature of the app is the ability to generate PDF’s of the loan information and email them to anyone! To do this just touch the “Email PDF” button in the upper right corner of the screen. You’ll get the choice of whether or not to include the amortization schedule or not, and then you’ll be taken directly to a form email with the PDF attached to it.
My personal experience with this app is that it made it very easy to get quick figures on what a loan will cost you. Unfortunately what it does not have is a way to calculate what it will cost you to refinance a loan. With that said, the app is only $0.99, and the PDF email feature is a great way to share loan figures with people while on the go. I’d encourage you to head to app store and check it out for yourself today!

‘Words With Pirates’ – Misses The International Talk Like a Pirate Day Boat
‘Words With Pirates’ – Misses The International Talk Like a Pirate Day Boat is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Ahhh, International Pirate Day. A parodic holiday created by two guys back in 1995 that thanks to media coverage and the Internet as a whole has turned in to an international sensation. Assuming you observe the holiday, on the 19th of September you simply spend the day talking like a pirate. Some people take this even farther and dress like a pirate, go to pirate themed parties, or even pirate themed pub crawls with entire gangs of pirates marauding about town. iPhone developer Newtoy, creators of We Rule [Free] as well as both Chess With Friends [$2.99 / Free] and Words With Friends [$2.99 / Free] just released Words With Pirates [Free], a pirate-themed scrabble game.

Unfortunately it would seem that Words With Pirates got caught up in the Apple approval process, or met some other speed bump along the way preventing it from being available for International Talk Like a Pirate Day on the 19th. Even though it's a little late, the game is just as ridiculous. Basically, it's Words With Friends with all the push notification powered asynchronous multiplayer that made the original great with a tile set and dictionary conducive for playing pirate words. Y's, A's, R's, G's, H's, and exclamation marks are plentiful for playing words like "Arrrrgh!" or "Harg!"
Words With Pirates is free, and only available for a limited time per the iTunes description. If you've had a good time with Words With Friends in the past, and love pirates, I'm not sure why you wouldn't grab this. If this is the first you've heard of the With Friends games, I highly recommend checking out the ad-based free versions of both Words and Chess.

Creepy Zombie Shooter ‘Aftermath’ Goes Free Today
Creepy Zombie Shooter ‘Aftermath’ Goes Free Today is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
The atmospheric zombie shooter Aftermath went free for today only. We reviewed the game back in March and really loved the creepy mood the game offers.
The mood of the game really is perfect. The lighting effects, 3d engine and sound come together to give Aftermath a great feel. Your character is controlled by two thumb pads, but not in the traditional dual-stick format. Left is movement while the right one lets you turn left/right. Meanwhile, firing at zombies is automatic when you point at them with your flashlight. While this may sound awkward, it works quite well and makes the game feel a bit more realistic and frantic as you must be facing your opponents to fire at them.
There's a lot to like about this one, and we highly recommend picking it up for free today.
Funny Call – iPhone App Review
Funny Call – iPhone App Review is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Funny Call (Free)
Version – 1.2
Review – “Prank calling taken to a whole new level!”
Whether you’re prank calling people, or you just want to freak out a friend apparently “there’s an app for that!” Funny Call is an app that allows you to alter the sound of your voice when you make a phone call from within the app. The app is free to try out and
then has several different price points that you can buy more minutes at.
When you open the app, you’ll start out at the main screen. There are a variety of different “voices” that you can choose from. Once you’ve selected a voice, the app actually starts out in “preview” mode so you can hear what it sounds like on your own voice! The app also tells you that you need to use headphones to get the best results.
Once you’ve got your voice ready and you’re ready to make a call just touch the “Place a Call” button at the bottom of the screen. When you do you’ll see
a dialer on the screen. In the upper right corner of the screen is a “Contacts” button that will allow you to dial anyone from your contacts list.
I found that the phone call’s from this app took a little bit longer than a typical call to connect. The calls were definitely high quality though, and there were no noticeable glitches in the audio once I was connected. At any time you can go back to the voice
select screen by touching the “Effects” button in the lower right corner of the screen!
The variety of voices in this app is also a good selling point. There are a ton of different voices from “Creepy,” and “Low” to voices like “Chipmunk,” and “Cyborgs”. My favorite voice was probably the “Creepy” voice, but there are several other good ones to choose from.
While I would recommend this app to anyone just to try out, it can get pricey very quickly if you choose to buy more minutes and continue to use it. Currently minutes are selling for $0.99 for 3, 4.99 for 30 minutes and $9.99 for 60 minutes! With that said, the app is free to try, and the true prankster within may just find that it’s worth it in the long run!

Backflip Studios have taken this summer to experiment with the freemium model for their games – offering them for free download with $0.99 in-app purchases to remove banner ads. Their final summer release in this series of freemium games is Buganoids. The game is inspired, visually and gameplay-wise, by 1980s arcade games, by having you running around a circular planet shooting at bug enemies that spawn from the center of the planet. This means that you have to get used to running around the planet to get to where you can get a proper shot off, and to try to keep enemies from getting to the planet’s surface where they can charge at you and take you down.
Buganoids is quite fun, and nails the retro arcade experience perfectly. Maybe the best thing that can be said about Buganoids is how authentic it feels – if this game was released 25-30 years ago, there would be games we’d be playing today that were influenced by this. It nails all of the other conventions – powerups, bonus enemies, the 8-bit graphics. While Buganoids is not a universal app, the game does come in iPhone and iPad flavors, and syncs up your high scores between both versions via OpenFeint.
Buganoids suffers from the same problem that most games in a circular playing field do: aiming is a pain. Angles are difficult to figure out, and it can be a pain to figure out the aiming line on a moving enemy. It’s part of why games with circular playing fields never really took off – it’s hard to escape that awkward feeling of firing on a circular playing field. It’s part of why Galaga is much beloved to this day, and a game like Gyruss is far less remembered. Circular playing fields just aren’t as natural, and that awkwardness does permeate through Buganoids at times. As well, due to the game being split into two separate versions, you have to pay to remove ads on both your iPad and iPhone/iPod touch separately.
Buganoids, much like the other freemium Backflip releases this summer, is well worth a download, and it isn’t a huge fee to remove the ads. Pick up Buganoids if you like 80’s arcade games, and want to play something that feels like it was recently dug out of a box somewhere and ported to iOS.
