Preschool Storybook Piano 1 300x200 Preschool Storybook Piano iPhone App ReviewIf you’re looking for a great way to keep your young child entertained, this app may be just what your looking for! Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Preschool Storybook Piano is an app that uses visual aids to help teach your child to play piano!

Preschool Storybook Piano has four different modes of play: Play and Sing along, Learn the Song, Karaoke Mode, and Free Style Mode. In Learn the song mode your child will see the notes being playedPreschool Storybook Piano 2 300x200 Preschool Storybook Piano iPhone App Review above a keyboard. As the song plays the keys will light up to show you which ones are supposed to be played. To start the song you just touch the “start” button on the left side above the keyboard.

In each of the four different play modes there are several different “keyboard sounds” to choose from. To switch between them just touch the little keyboard icon to the left of the “Start” button. There are all kinds of instrument sounds from piano, guitar and banjo all the way down to animal sounds!

Preschool Storybook Piano 3 300x200 Preschool Storybook Piano iPhone App ReviewAnother thing you can do with this app is record yourself playing and listen to it again! It works great, but I found it to be slightly confusing the first time I used it. There is really not any descriptionPreschool Storybook Piano 4 300x200 Preschool Storybook Piano iPhone App Review of how this feature works. To record yourself playing you have to touch the “Record” button so that it’s highlighted and then start the song to record.

Preschool Storybook Piano 5 300x200 Preschool Storybook Piano iPhone App ReviewIn play and sing along mode you’ll see a story in the background as you play the song, in Karaoke you’ll see the words to the song, and in Free style mode you will both see the words and also the background from play and sing along mode! When you view the words with the song you have the option of viewing them in English, Spanish, or French as well!

If you have a young child in your life that is showing signs of talent/interest in music this app is a great way to encourage that! While it would have been nice to maybe have a few more songs included, the app is only $0.99 and it functions well. So what are you waiting for? Check it out in the App Store today!

Flipboard Review is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Developer: FLIPBOARD, INC.

Price: Free
Version Reviewed: 1.0.1
Device Reviewed On: iPad

iPad Integration Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
User Interface Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Re-use Value Rating: 3.25 out of 5 stars

Overall Rating: 4.08 out of 5 stars

Here’s the idea: make an app that pulls content from popular social networks and formats into a slick, ‘zine inspired interface. It’s a simple idea. But is it practical? Flipboard certainly thinks so, and they’ve invested quite a bit of design and promotion into it. The result is a social networking ‘zine that is good-looking and easy to browse, but still awaiting some more advanced features.

Flipboard works like this: connect the app to your Facebook and Twitter accounts. Select up to seven other Twitter feeds or lists that you want to treat as “news,” then browse them via an interface that looks less like Twitteriffic and more like Newsweek. In other words, turn your Facebook friends into something cooler! The appeal is not the content, but the presentation. At a basic level, it is just another feed reader; the big selling point is the interface–the way you read your feeds.

And on that level, boy does Flipboard make my Facebook friends look good. Mimicking the look of slick modern ‘zine, Flipboard really turns mundane links and albums of Little League photos into very appealing things. The very posts that you might gloss over as you browse your friends status updates become front-and-center eye-catchers here, complete with headlines and graphics. It does all this through a responsive and intuitive touch control that lets you flip pages just like a book. Everything moves smoothly, and I did not detect any real glitches in the interface. It’s really well done and a treat to use.

Having said that, I also have to say this: right now, Flipboard feels more like a novelty than a killer app. It doesn’t mine the social networks popular links, doesn’t follow hashtags or trending topics, doesn’t allow you to make new status updates or create new tweets within the app. It’s great at what it does, but what is does is limited.

In the case of Flipboard, though, I am willing to temper my judgment of these limitations and put some faith in the future. This is not a small developer firing off their first app, but instead a major venture by a group with a lot of capital behind it. And the developers are promising that more dynamic feed sorting and other features are in the pipeline, as users begin to fuel and shape Flipboard content. If they realize the apps full potential, then it will be a beautiful thing.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention one small but important issue here. Flipbook, for all its slickness, apparently wasn’t ready to handle the level of early interest it has generated. After dealing with Facebook lockouts in the first launch days, they’ve initiated an invite system, which means you may have to wait a couple days before you can make use of the apps primary selling point. And that sucks, just a bit, though it’s certainly one of those things that won’t be a lingering issue once the hype dies down.

So, is Flipboard a novelty social network reader, or a new paradigm in popular media? The jury is still out. If the developers follow through on the potential the app holds, it will certainly rise above the status of eye-candy and become a singular way to consume your daily dose of social media. I, for one, can’t wait.

Park Rush HD – iPad App Review is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Post image for Park Rush HD – iPad App Review

Park Rush HD icon Park Rush HD iPad App Review

Park Rush HD ($2.99)

Version – 1.0

Review – “Find the inner valet within with Park Rush HD for iPad!”

One of my wife’s favorite types of games has always Park Rush HD 1 300x225 Park Rush HD iPad App Reviewbeen the “Diner-Dash” style games. Just the fast pace of trying to manage several different things at once is addicting to say the least. If this is the kind of action you enjoy then you might want to check out Park Rush. The basic idea is that you’re a valet that parks cars and you have to try and make as much money as possible.

First off I’d like to say that this type of the game is perfectly suited to the large touch screen of the iPad. While I’ve seen a few games of this genre done on the iPhone/iPod Touch, there is really no comparison between those games and one done on the iPad!

My first impressions of Park Rush were that the graphics and sound are all very polished. In fact I felt they were even more polished that you typically see with a lot of the flash-based games of this type. The music adds to the game, but doesn’t get annoying quickly. The sound effects also add to the experience as well.

The main menu of the app is very simple. It has four buttons that allow you to start a new game, resume your old game, check high scores, or quit the app. The high-scores area of this app is powered by the OpenFeint network, and so the first time you open the app you’ll be asked to sign into your account or to create a new account if you don’t already have one.

When you decide to start a new game you’ll be given the option to select from two different characters: Park Rush HD 2 300x225 Park Rush HD iPad App ReviewLillian and Johnny. Once you select your character you’ll be taken to the main gameplay screen. On this screen you’ll see several parking spaces at the top, a sidewalk where your customers line up at on the right side, and a sidewalk where they come to pick up their cars later.

To do your job you have to touch a customer to have them give you the keys to their vehicle. You then can get in that vehicle and park it in an empty parking place. As you park more cars though you need to be ready because your patrons can come back and want their cars at any time!

In order to win and move on to the next level you have to reach your goal amount of money for the day. Your progress and goal are shown in the little box in the upper left corner of the screen. You’ll also find how much time you have to complete that task, and how much time you’ve currently used in the same box.

If at any time you need to pause your game, or you want to save it for play later all you have to do is touch the little tab on the left side of the screen. A small Park Rush HD 3 300x225 Park Rush HD iPad App Reviewmenu slides out and your game is paused. While it is definitely nice to be able to quickly save and exit from this tab that does not, in my opinion, make up for this apps lack of an “auto-save” feature if you exit the app using another means such as the home button.

One other thing that I did notice with this app is that I had it crash on me once or twice. From what I could tell though this is remedied by restarting your iPad so I think the crashes were most likely memory related. A crash like this is even more irritating though when the game does not include any kind of auto-save feature built in.

All in all this game is definitely easy to learn to play, and a lot of fun as well! I would definitely recommend that you give your iPad a quick reboot after installing though if you want to avoid the crashes that I mentioned before. I’m sure these bugs will be worked out though as this app is stilly very new! If you enjoy fast-paced games like these and you’re looking for something a little different then Park Rush is just what you’ve been looking for. So what are you waiting for? Check it out in the App Store today!

muBlip Review is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Developer: PARA9

Price: $3.99
Version: 1.1.0
Device Reviewed On: iPhone

Graphics / Sound Rating: 4.25 out of 5 stars
User Interface Rating: 4.25 out of 5 stars
Gameplay Rating: 4.75 out of 5 stars
Re-use / Replay Value Rating: 3.75 out of 5 stars

Overall Rating: 4.25 out of 5 stars

There’s a fair number of music rhythm games on the iPhone. One of the more unique takes on the genre is muBlip, the cool rhythm game from Para9. By introducing novel touch controls and a club-inspired soundtrack, muBlip makes for a memorable experience.

When I play a game, I generally start by trying to classify it akin to other games. With muBlip, that’s difficult, a testament to its design. It’s a rhythm game, for sure, and reminiscent of rock-n-roll games like Guitar Hero or Tap Tap Revenge; but it also reminded me a bit of the sound-and-colors game Auditorium, as well as Bit.Trip Beat (a WiiWare game that is under development for the iPhone). Reminiscent of, but certainly not like.

As in all rhythm games, the basic goal of muBlip is to play along with the beat. In this case, the music is a synth-infused club electronica sort of soundtrack, and to “play along” means more than just tapping buttons. This is muBlip’s secret, and the reason it is so much fun. There are no five fixed buttons, but patterns of geometric shapes that change from song to song and screen to screen. And you don’t just tap; you tap, slide, move, or hold depending upon the beat, sometimes using both thumbs at the same time. It’s more complex, which makes it much more enjoyable.

You’re scored based on both timing and accuracy, and trust me when I say that you will not get a perfect score the first time through. The music is generally fast-paced, which means good reflexes are required. And since you need both thumbs to play, there’s also a fair level of dexterity involved — otherwise you’ll end up, like me, tripping over your own digits. [In my defense, I have big thumbs.]

I only have two real complaints about muBlip. One is a touch control issue. Occasionally, there seemed to be a disconnect between my touches and the game’s recognition. Touches that seemed to be timed right did not register, or touches that seemed to be in the right place failed to score. Timing and accuracy are both part of the game, so I cannot discount that at least in some instances I was simply off; but on a couple of occasions the flaw seemed technical, not user-oriented.

The other is the length of the game. There’s only thirteen tracks here, most ranging from 90 seconds to 3 minutes. Thus, you’ll experience all of the game’s offerings in about a half an hour. While there’s a lot of replay value in trying to up your accuracy score, it still feels like a short game.

Short or not, muBlip is a game worth experiencing. It’s a music rhythm game with a fresh spin and some neat music, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing it.
