Review – “Comprehensive Mobile Guide for Pole Dancing”
App developer: Adam Jay
Website: www.pocketpolestudio.com
There has definitely been a movement in the last few years towards more and more people taking up pole dancing as a form of fitness and exercise. If you’re one of these people I think you’ll definitely benefit by having this App around when you want to practice.
Let me be upfront and say that although I did spent quite a bit of time playing around with this app, viewed probably every one of the 100+ photos and nearly half of the videos included in this App – I did not try out any of the moves myself. This is for two reasons – one, I do not have (nor do I plan to anytime in the near future) have a Pole installed in my house. Second, that when begining any sort of fitness routine you should always consult an expert to begin with – even the App itself advises to start out with an expert helping out out.
So lets say that you’ve been to a couple of classes, or maybe you’re just interested in trying out a couple of different beginner moves to decide to join a local studio or not. Either way, having this App around is going to be very handy. Not only is there an informative and extensive gallery of moves ranging from Beginner to Expert, but there are also videos which can be watched at any time to show you the exact form and procedure for each move. The layout is easy to use, and the graphics (especially the photos and videos themselves) are high-quality. You’re going to get what you pay for with this App.
There are a few extra added bonuses like being able to email an expert from within the App, featured videos from the Apps sponsors including information about PoleJunkies Camps and Circuits.
Spending some time watching these useful videos made me realize just how acrobatic and strong one needs to be in order to properly do most of these complex moves. There’s no way the average woman would be able to do this right away. The only way you’re going to be able to successfully master Pole Dancing is doing three things: Practice, Practice, Practice. I think that having Pocket Pole Studio in your pocket is going to be the leg-up you need to motivate you to do just that, and gives you all the information you’ll need at any time – as you do not need to be connected to wifi or data to use this App – everything is stored right on to your iPhone.
Have a look at the rest of the screenshots to get an idea of the kind of info that is contained in the App.
Happy Dancing!

iPhone App Review: Ambinator
iPhone App Review: Ambinator is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Ambinator is an app that plays high quality ambient sounds for the purpose of meditation, relaxation, or background noise for traveling. This app is simple and straight forward with the features that it offers the user.
Ambinator pros:
By using this app I notice how much time must have gone into the idea and implementation of the Ambinator. It has a floating ball in the center of the screen that maneuvers around the screen to cause the sounds to evolve and change over time. You can also manually maneuver the floating ball to mix the sounds up at your continence. The Ambinator has preloaded arrangements that you can listen to or you can customize the sounds by adding from a bank of individual sounds. One big positive thing that I notice about this app is that the sounds are very high quality and it is not just a loop of the same old stuff over and over.
Ambinator Cons:
One big con is that this app costs $1.99 and that is about $1.99 over what it should be. There is absolutely no reason that I saw that this app couldn’t be free and simply make money from its sponsors. This reason alone would cause me to not suggest this app for the average user.
This app is well put together and well thought out. I was not impressed however with its seemingly unwarranted price. I would only recommend this app to someone who really enjoys ambient sound generators and is looking to drop and unnecessary $1.99.

Pros:
- Controls look and function good
- Sounds are customizable
- Ambient sound is high quality
Cons:
- Cost is overboard
I give this app a 4/10 because no matter how good it sounds it is WAY over priced for an app of its category.

Life Goals – iPhone App Review
iPhone App Review: Proactive Sleep
iPhone App Review: Proactive Sleep is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Tracking sleep habits is one of those things I have always wanted to do. It’s kind of lack tracking eating habits, except I’ve never really wanted to do that. By tracking your bedtime, wake-up time, and nightly interruptions, over time you should develop a more realistic idea of how health your sleep behavior is for you.
Proactive Sleep, by developers Proactive Life, aims to help you track this data simply and efficiently; as well as providing you with the means to assist you in falling asleep and waking up each day.
Quick Overview
Proactive Sleep has several tabs, only three of which are actually devoted to the regular use of the app. The starting tab is Alarm, which is naturally enough where you set the alarm and then put the app into data collection mode. You may also choose to wake naturally rather than use an alarm.
The next tab is the sleep diary, where all of your data is collected and may be viewed, edited, and deleted. The third tab is the settings tab. Here you can choose what music to wake up to, whether to do the wake-up “Proactive Game” to test your morning mental alertness, what your nightly sleep goal should be, and whether or not the app should play soothing sounds or music to help you fall asleep.
The last two tabs are simply and email link for sharing the app with a friend, and and info page with instructions on using the app and useful links on the topic of sleep itself.
My Experience With Proactive Sleep
I used the app for several days as my only alarm clock, and my experience is a bit mixed. Although I have some suggestions for streamlining the app’s interface my main problems were with the area of data gathering, which in a data gathering app may not be such a great thing.
First of all, despite a few interface quirks I found the app very easy to use and fairly intuitive. It has very useful features and the tabbed organization works well; I don’t know why more developers don’t do this.
There are essentially two taps used in normal operation of the app: you tap to tell it “I’m going to sleep now”, then again to tell it “I’m awake now.” This is simple efficient and is exactly the way the app should be (considering that you’ll be attempting those taps when you’re at your least alert). The app then tracks the time you went to sleep and the time you woke up.
The problem is that the sleep diary, after having used it for several nights, just cannot be trusted. Looking at my screenshot notice two oddities: one is a missing night of data for Tuesday March 23. I have no idea where that went, though I’m willing to concede that I may somehow have accidentally deleted it. The real problem is at the top, Saturday March 27. There’s nothing there.
Here’s the tale of Saturday:
I got home late and got to sleep after midnight. The next morning, after telling the app I was awake, I saw that blank entry in the diary. “Bummer,” I thought. So come Sunday evening when I’m getting ready to sleep again, I see that there are now TWO Saturdays; one as you see here with no data, and another with the proper sleep data. Come Monday morning, however, the Saturday with the data is gone again and I’m left with an entry that has no sleep information, and also, did I mention this, cannot be deleted?
The app also has a useful feature where you can tap during the night to inform it that you have had a temporary wake-up. Nice, that would seem to be information you want to track when gathering data about your sleep. Notice how on Wednesday March 24 I have manually entered a note about waking up at 330a? I informed the app of that wake-up by tapping the proper button, but have no idea where that information goes, so I had to enter it in the notes field on that day’s entry.
Turning to the notes entry, I think this is a great feature. You can take short notes on the night’s rest while it’s fresh in your mind, but heed this warning: do not press return when you are finished typing your note. Pressing return, at least on my device, exits edit mode and saves your note text, then reduces your amount of sleep by several minutes. What? That’s right, even if you don’t type or change anything in the note, hitting “Return” on the pop-up keyboard while adjust your sleep time downwards. So, you know, avoid that. You can manually adjust the sleep time up or down if this happens, but it’s annoying and potentially renders your data worthless if you don’t know that it’s happening.
The app itself in my opinion is also missing a couple of critical features: exporting your sleep diary, and a detailed edit screen for each diary entry (something similar to editing a “task” inf your typical to-do app).
Pros
- Great idea and efficient app layout.
- Tracks sleep habits vs actual goal, and calculates lots of useful statistics like average bedtime, average sleep time, and relative consistency of bedtime and nightly sleep amounts.
- Tons of info on the science of sleep and the app itself, rendered through an HTML tab with many links. Presumably this can be updated at any time since it’s web-based.
Cons
- Has several data-collection bugs, which is not great for a data-collection app. The data gathered cannot be 100% trusted
- Missing email sleep diary export, which locks the sleep diary into your phone. Given how fast and loose this app plays with the data that does not fill me with confidence.
Bottom Line
As far as recommending this app, I’ll have to let you read the review and decide for yourself. They need to work out the bugs, add the sleep diary export feature, and also implement a few random tweaks that would enhance the usability of the app
- You need a way to test the alarm volume within the app, especially since volume on the music tracks in your library may vary from song to song.
- Need a more detailed and robust diary-entry edit screen
- If I wake up before the alarm and tell it I’m awake, the music still plays after I’ve already tapped “Permanently Awake”. I’m awake now, stand down!
I should say that I’m still going to keep using this app, for a couple of reasons:
- It tracks my sleep mostly, kind of, almost pretty well, which is better than I was doing before or realistically can do with pen and paper.
- It wakes me up to my choice of music.
- It’s simple and easy to use.
Proactive Sleep is a flawed app with a brilliant, simple, and well-designed idea. If you want to track your sleep, and think you can work around the implementation flaws until the developers work out the kinks, then give it a go.
Create a Comprehensive Pain Log With Chronic Pain Tracker
Create a Comprehensive Pain Log With Chronic Pain Tracker is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Since healthcare professionals are telling the general public to become more involved with their own healthcare all the time, why not use technology to make involvement simpler. An addition to a handful of other iPhone apps that allow users to track specific medical information, Chronic Pain Tracker is a fairly comprehensive app that helps track chronic pain by providing users with an easy way to create a log with details of their ailment.
Chronic Pain Tracker provides both a summary of pain as well as a history of entries, which could prove quite useful to a doctor or chiropractor. Users can make detailed entries that include anatomical graphics, a pain rating scale, pain descriptors, and specific user notes. Each saved entry is tracked by date and time and consolidated into a report format showing the daily overview, as well as weekly. At a glance, you can see the number of entries for each day, week, or up to the past 90 days, or view a more detailed history of all entries.(…)

Symptom Checker (Free)
Version 1.0.2
REVIEW – “Get instant access to information about what your symptoms might mean.”
Whether you are concerned for yourself or a family member having quick access to reliable information is always a great help. With Symptom Checker you can look up more than 40 symptoms and find out how to treat them, and when it might be time to visit a doctor.
There are a number of things about this app that really work and the first is that it separates symptoms into children and adults. This is very important because the same symptom could mean completely different things and could be much more serious for children rather than adults, or vice versa.
Once you get past that screen you can easily find the symptom you are looking to find more information about. The app then gives you information on how to treat the problem, what warning signs to look out for and when it is best to consult a doctor. This feature can save you wasted doctor’s visits and make sure you get to the doctor when you really need to.
Like any app that is built from a website it also gives you easy access to much of the vast tomes of information that you can find on the Mayo Clinic website. You can get further information on specific illness or problems, as well as information about how to get the right treatment and where to go.
The app even gives you information about the Mayo Clinic itself including a way to schedule an appointment or to have all those questions you have always wondered about the Mayo Clinic answered.
I was surprised to find this app because like many people when I think of finding out more information about symptoms or problems, WebMD is usually my first stop. But this app is very useful, although I would like to see it expanded a little more, but for a free app it is not half bad and it does give great information.

Restaurant Nutrition (Free)
Version 1.34
REVIEW – “Now you can learn the nutrition facts of all your favorite restaurant foods.”
With everyone looking for new ways to eat healthier this app can become an invaluable tool in helping to turn away from that cheeseburger. Restaurant Nutrition has the nutrition facts for a number of your favorite restaurants so that you know exactly what it is you are eating.
The interface is very easy to use. All you have to do is sign your name into the app so that it can easily keep track of your eating habits and let you know just what your calories are for the day or for the week.
The main screen allows you to search through an alphabetical list of dozens of different popular restaurants. From A & W to Chili’s to KFC to all your favorites, and this app is always adding new restaurants.
Then you can go through the different menu sections in order to find your meal choice. Once you find you can scroll through a wealth of nutritional information that helps you decide whether it fits into any of your dietary needs. At the bottom of the screen you are able to check whether you ate that item today or if you ate it on a previous day.
This app is so easy to use and since it is free you cannot go wrong. Knowing what the calorie and fat content is for
some of those greasy fast foods might get you to choose to eat healthier every once and while. But at some restaurants the salads are actually worse than the burgers, so knowing just what to eat can help you reach a healthier weight.
I love this app not only because it is simple to use but it is a nice and simple way to check up and see if that burger that does not sound that terrible really is what I think it is. Though it may also ruin some of my favorite foods as I realize just how unhealthy they can be.
