US Immigration FAQ is pretty much exactly what it says it is. A handy guide to all of the rules for visiting or immigrating to the US. The information contained in this App is current (as of the last update) and informative for anyone wishing to learn more about the policies and procedures for traveling to the USA – for business or pleasure. Actually, the section on Business travelers is probably what is going to be the most popular, this is a fantastic guide for people who travel often, or who are looking for information on the go about this topic. While most of the Business section deals with immigrating for investing, some of it does cover regular business trips as well.

In fact, this App covers almost all eventualities when it comes to obtaining visas and work permits, residence and green cards. The overall topics contained within are;

And each section contains many chapters about the specific procedures, forms and documents unique to each situation.

The information is provided in a very readable format – and contrary to some legal or government documents which can get confusing, its laid out in a way that will give you all the information you need based on your specific situation and needs.

Of course, this is also a fantastic tool for students who are learning immigration law and procedures. While not heavy on the legal aspect of things, it does provide easy to understand directions and details that can be used as a great study-guide.

While the App is laid out really well, and is easy to navigate I found it unfortunate that it wasn’t lacking a couple of features that would make it much more useful for business people and students alike. 1) Highlighting certain passages. This would be a wonderful way to come back to something you particularly wanted to remember like form information, or a particularly important procedure that you just learned about. If not that, then at least, 2) Bookmarks – to flag certain chapters within sections. As this App is so comprehensive it can get difficult to remember “where did I read that particular thing about student visa limitations?”, having your own bookmarks page would be wonderful.

Other than those to criticisms I think that if you’re looking for a handy guide to quickly look up immigration info, this is it. There aren’t many others on the App store, so while it might be one of your only options, at least it’s informative and well written. Try it out, via the link below.

I go on vacation pretty once a year, and when I do, my mother is obsessed with watching the progression of my flight, especially on my return flight as she is usually in charge of picking me up at the airport. If you travel more often the likelihood of you having some one wanting to keep tabs on your flights is much higher, luckily Flight View is a solution to having mobile info about any flights.

I think that most people may already be familiar with the website version, but now earlier this month, FlightView launched an App with many of the same features, information and updates, only directly for your iPhone, and it’s fantastic.

This App is Feature Rich. Let’s start with finding the flights you want to track. Of course you could could simply add the airline (by name or airline code) and flight number, but I’m very impressed that it also includes the option to search for flights.

You will have to be connected to the Internet for this, but within this search you can find flights via city or airport search and date of departure, it will give you a full list of flights on that route.

This is handy for two reasons, obviously if you don’t know the exact flight details, but also if you wanted to actually look for a flight in the next few days to somewhere, it includes all airlines on that route including departure and arrival times.

Once you’ve selected your flight, you can save it and begin getting real-time data about it. You can check if an upcoming departure is postponed, you can find out the arrival and terminal information, and (personally this is my favorite feature) watch the flight in map-view. Again, you do need an Internet connection to get current flight information obviously, but once saved the basic details of any flight are viewable anytime.

Another unexpected but very helpful feature as seen below, is that it offers real-time information about flight delays at airports, nationwide, on a map, even.

I can’t imagine how useful this would be for business travelers, and family members of anyone taking flights. Even if this App did nothing more than import and save your flight information it would be worth the price, only $0.99, unbelievable. I highly recommend his App, even if you onion fly a few times a year it would be incredibly useful. This is one of those Apps I would have never thought to look for, but will always keep handy, try it out!

Whether you live in or are planning on taking a trip to Jeddah in Saudia Arabia, JeddahFood is an app that you might be interested in. If you’re familiar with the area you may have noticed that Google searches for things like food there turn up very few results. This app will not only help you find the results you’re looking for, but also find out whether it is a place worth eating at!

When you open up JeddahFood you’ll start out at the Near Me page. From here all you have to get started is touch the “Start” button on the left side of the screen. You’ll be presented with a list of different kinds of food. The list is fairly comprehensive, containing everything from a variety of different “Middle Eastern” foods to juice bars and fast food!

The nice thing about the category view of this app is how detailed it is. For example if you choose the “Fast Food” option you are presented with a list of different types of fast food. You can quickly and easily choose from Pizza, Burgers, Chicken, etc. It is even as specific as to differentiate between “Middle Eastern” foods, dividing them into categories like “Moroccan, Saudi and Egyptian.

Another great thing about this app is all of the information you can get about the restaurants. When you find the one you are interested in and select it you’ll not only get it’s location, but also phone numbers, websites, reviews and comments. While I can’t speak to the accuracy of the locations since I don’t live in Saudi Arabia, I will say that there seems to be a great deal of information and comments on the websites.

While the category search is one of the best I’ve seen, if you know exactly what you’re looking for there is a search function as well. You can specify your search to only show results within a certain radius of your current location, to a specific district, or even to how much money you’re willing to spend.

There are a few other menu options as well that are useful. The first is a “Recents” page where you can quickly see what restaurants you’ve looked
at previously. There is also a “Bookmarks” page that will show you a list of any restaurants that you choose to “Bookmark.” This makes it easy to make a list of places to visit if you are traveling! The final option the a “Settings” screen. From here you can link the app to your Facebook, Twitter, and even a “Jeddahfood.com” account should you choose to create one.

The one thing I will say is that, when compared to the rest of the App Store, the app does seem a little overpriced. With that said, the results you get with this app are definitely top notch and you might not find them anywhere else, so they might be worth it. This is definitely not your typical free social networking app.

All things considered in the big picture of things if you are traveling abroad and will have good internet access with your iPhone this app probably is worth the $3.99 that they are charging for it. If you’re still not sure though I’d encourage you to head to their website and check it out for yourself. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the detailed information you can get, and the format it’s presented in on the iPhone is simple and concise!
