Overall Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

I’ve reviewed quite a few list apps since starting with 148Apps. It hasn’t been on purpose, by any means. I don’t even make many lists. I just seem to gravitate towards these kinds of apps for some reason. I’ve made the statement before in reviews that if I would be using a list app, it would be this app, or that app. Yet, here I am, not using a list app at all.

That was before I realized the greatness of Acme Lists. The greatness I speak of isn’t in the bells and whistles, the time stamping and organizing of data, the categorizing of lists by importance, type, smell, sound… etc that other similar apps flaunt as their selling point. The greatness of Acme Lists is in the simplistic design and ease of use, the quick input of lists and the quick deletion of finished objectives. No tracking, no breakdowns, no graphs, just pure list making bliss.

The interface for Acme lists is fairly straight forward. Three tabs along the bottom of the screen separate out the list making, the settings page, and a comprehensive help page. With one click on the list page, a list can be viewed, added to, or deleted. With another click entire new lists can be created. Picked up those diapers at the corner store? You can delete the item all together or simply red line it through until the next shopping list, where it becomes necessary again.

Acme Lists isn’t without its own arsenal of bells and whistles though. A web server allows for remote editing of lists through a PC as long as both devices are on the same wi-fi connection. So your wife can upload your daily honeydo list before you ever wake up in the morning. Once you check the app, you’ll have a brand spanking new list of items to complete. Additionally, if your wife or husband has their own iDevice, the two devices can share lists over Bluetooth or wifi. So if you got the eggs and milk but he got the chicken and beef, your lists will be updated accordingly once connected.

The help page is extremely comprehensive, providing step by step instructions for each section, general information, and options to rate and share the app. If you’re looking for a simple yet useful list app, Acme Lists is a hard one to pass up. At $0.99, it’s a safe investment to see if it fits your needs. Now if you’ll excuse me, my shopping list needs completed.

Toogo iPhone App Review

Toogo

Version 1.1

Toogo iPhone App Review 1 Toogo iPhone App Review

I have looked through many (many!) to do lists on the App Store, trying to find a one size fits all app for what I need. I don’t have a problem making my todo list .. I have a problem remembering to pull my list up when I’m near my errands!

Guess what .. there’s now an app for that! Enters Toogo. ..

Developed by Benjamin Nelson, this app is simple and straightforward, but super handy when it comes to reminding you of your daily errands. In a nutshell this app gives you the ability to create location – based to dos .. and then reminds you of your errands when you are near them. Sounds great, doesn’t it?

When you first open the application it defaults to the map screen, which looks similar to an application like Google Maps.

Toogo iPhone App Review 2 Toogo iPhone App Review

At the top you’ll see Settings, where you can change the map view and even enable the multi-tasking option for the application (when applicable on your device). At the bottom left you’ll see an icon that you will press to find your location (again on applicable devices). In the middle you can toggle between a Map View of your to dos, or a List View. At the bottom right hand side you’ll see the ‘+’ button, which is how you add a new location.

Toogo iPhone App Review 3 Toogo iPhone App Review

By default your map is empty aside from your current location marking. Pressing the ‘+’ button will take you to the screen where you can add new to do. It asks you for a Name (which will show up on either the list or the map), Location, and a location radius to which you should be notified (either 1/2, 1, 2, 5, or 10 miles).

By clicking the Location button it will default to your current location (if known), however you can either type in an address at the top or you can simply drag the little pin to the location you want it to be at.

(***NOTE .. this part appears to only work when multi-tasking is ENABLED on an iPhone that supports it***)  Now comes the fun part. After giving your to do a name, location, and notification radius it is added to your list. When you are driving along and move within your specified radius a popup will appear and remind you of your errand. How handy is that?!?!

My only concern with this app is that it may be battery draining, since it appears to leave the GPS option on your phone active the entire time, through multi-tasking. However I have not used it long enough to confirm or deny this… but I can note a swifter decrease in battery usage and my phone, when not is use, feels warmer than it did before using this app.

If you have a device that can fully support the ability of this app I’d suggest heading over to the App Store now and grabbing your copy at the bargain price of $0.99. While I am thinking it may use a little more battery than your phone sitting idle it may be a minimal tradeoff to how handy this app can be for your every day errands.

If you’re interested in checking out a demo video, made by the developer, head on over to his website.

Enjoy!

(only available for the iPad)

My Reading List iPad App Review 1 My Reading List iPad App Review

Are you an avid reader looking for a way to organize your future reading material? If so then you may enjoy My Reading List for the iPad. This app was developed by 59thirty LLC and is not only a catalog but also an integrated purchasing tool.

The app has a clean and simple interface to it. When you open the app it defaults to your Reading Wish List. In this menu you can see which books are on your list, preview the book cover (by clicking on the cover icon), rearrange or delete books, and even purchases books through amazon.com

In the upper left hand corner you can edit your list .. i.e. remove books you’ve already bought and even rearrange books within the list.

In the upper right hand corner you have the option to add new books to your list. You can add a book either by searching for the name of the book or the author’s name. Once you do that it populates a list of book options where you can select the book you were looking for.

Once a book is added to your list you have the option to buy it, using this app and Amazon.com. Simply click on the “Buy” button and it will pull the book in question up within amazon.com’s website and from there you can select the reading format you are interested in and place your order.

My Reading List iPad App Review 5 My Reading List iPad App Review

My biggest suggestion for this app would be to incorporate a means to track books that people have read, because that seems to be a common trait among avid readers. That could be as simple as a long, uncategorized list or as nice as breaking it out by genre (possibly pulled from amazon’s website as well), author, or similar categories / ordering.

All in all if you are an avid reading looking for a quick and easy way to keep track of your future reading list you may want to give My Reading List a look. It’s currently on sale in the App Store for $2.99 and currently is available as an iPad only version.

iPhone App Review: Promise2Pray is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Have you ever found yourself awake at night babbling aimlessly at the ceiling and not making a clear objective? Have you ever thought to pray for someone and forgot what their request was? Prayer is a powerful tool for a believer i used correctly. Often times a person may use a journal to help with organizing and recollection of their prayer list. This app is an electronic prayer journal that will assist the user in recalling their prayers, help to organize them into categories and acts as a reminder to the user.

Promise2Pray Pros:

I first started using this app a few days ago with expectations of a simple little app that would look good and ultimately not be used by myself. So far I have only seen the benefit from using Promise2Pray. The first thing that I have noticed simply was the amount of prayer requests that I had in my head seemed much larger when written down in this app. You can sort through your prayer list by category such as “Petition” and “Thanksgiving”. This was neat because it helped me visualize where my struggles and blessings are in my life. Beyond the capability to just categorize prayer, it has functions to: add prayers for the future, add contact info for someone you are praying for, search archived prayer, and add categories of prayer to sort into. It does all of this and still manages to look and function great.

Promise2Pray Cons:

One minor thing that I would like to see Promise2Pray have is contact photos. This is definitely not a necessity for this app but some people may like to associate a face with their prayers. Another great upgrade to this app would be the ability to password protect certain prayers. I say this because I prayed for guidance in considering proposing to my (now) wife a few years ago and if I was using an app like this at the time; her stumbling upon it may have ruined the surprise. Push notification would be a welcomed add to this app to remind the user of important dates in their prayer lists.

I did like Promise2Pray a lot. I was right in my initial assumption that it would be a great looking and functioning app but I was very wrong when it came to personal usefulness. I see myself using Promise2Pray for a long time and would recommend this app to anyone who is looking for some organization of their prayers and a great way to be reminded of what to be praying for.

Pros:

- Categories
- View archived prayers
- View Future prayers
- Ability to add contact info
- Helps with overall organization of prayers

Cons:

- Contacts can’t add photos
- No password protection for sensitive prayer
- No push notifications

I give this app an 7/10 for looking great and potential long term usefulness, but still needs a few upgrades

Grocery iQ – iPhone App Review is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Grocery iQ – (Free)

Version 2.01

REVIEW – “An extensive grocery shopping app that ensures all your favorite items are included.”

GI1 208x300 Grocery iQ iPhone App ReviewI have gone through a few shopping list apps and some of them started out great and ended terrible, while others started out terrible and didn’t get too much better. Grocery iQ combines the technology of RedLaser with the ease of a simple shopping list app.

Now this app works basically like every other shopping list app out there when you first look at it. You simply create a new list and then start adding what you need. But that’s when things start to get interesting, the sheer number of items that are ready for  you to add is astounding. There is no more having to create items because just about everything you could possibly imagine is already loaded into the app, this even includes brands and flavors. (Ex. Breyer’s Ice Cream, chocolate chip cookie dough, it’s there!) GI2 208x300 Grocery iQ iPhone App Review

Even better if you are at the store or even at home and want to add something to the list, simply use the barcode scanner to have that item automatically added to your list. This feature is just fun to play around with and it actually works the way it says.

But it’s the small touches that really make this app shine as above and beyond. One of my favorites is the ability to tag things that I buy often so that they are automatically added to my shopping list. No more forgetting the milk, the eggs or even the whole wheat bread, because it is always on the list.

GI3 208x300 Grocery iQ iPhone App ReviewI also like the feature that you can send your shopping list to integrate with anyone else who has the app as well, this works much better than other apps I have seen and that’s great because when you’re pregnant it’s nice to have my husband pick up things on his way home from work instead of having to run out and get them myself.

Like other shopping list apps you can put things into categories so that you can easily go through your list as you make your way through the store and this can be a real time saver. You can also create special lists for different stores. You can even make store notations on individual items so you never forget who stocks your favorite cereal or who has the best price on Hot Pockets.

Now this app might not have the exact ease of use of some of the other apps but for me the extra features really win out. I love the list integration and the fact that sending the list to my husband does not mean a basic text email.

The app is free for the month of April so give it a try and see for yourself how this shopping list app matches up.

Dunnit! – iPhone App Review is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Dunnit! ($4.99)

Version 1.1.2

REVIEW – “This attractive to-do list makes getting things done, even more fun!”

D1 200x300 Dunnit! iPhone App ReviewThere is really nothing new about ToDo Lists on the iPhone but Dunnit! has a truly unique idea that might just leave all those other lists trailing far behind.

When you first open the app it might seem a bit overwhelming because your task list is already completely filled, but that is because each task is explaining another feature of the app. I was very impressed by the fact that everything about the app is easily and quickly explained so that anyone can pick it up and know how to use all the available features.D2 200x300 Dunnit! iPhone App Review

I was also very impressed with the options you have for every one of your tasks. You can put normal or urgent, give a due date and time, set it to repeat and even tag it. The tag allows you to organize your tasks into separate groups like work, school, and home, or however you would like. It is nice to have the extra way to look at your apps.

On the main screen the app automatically groups your apps by due date groups so that you can easily see the things you need to focus on immediately and the things that you need to focus on in the coming days and weeks.

But even beyond the ease of use, and extra features such as the ability to view your task history and import your own ToDo list from your computer, this app boasts one extra feature that really makes it stand out.

DD3 200x300 Dunnit! iPhone App ReviewFor those of you that use OpenFeint, this app rises heads and tails above the crowd because it allows you to earn achievements and points just from getting your tasks done. So it really encourages you to get things done on time and even ahead of schedule so that you can rack up those points and move up the leader board. In effect it turns boring, mundane tasks into a sort of game, making me think that Mary Poppins has been putting her hands on this iPhone app. (In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun!)

The price tag on this app might put some of you off because it is a bit high for a To Do List app but anything that gives you the motivation you need to get the laundry done or to do your homework on time, is something that is definitely worth the cost.

Shopper Tops List as the Bargain to Buy is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Price: $0.99    Score: 10/10    By Anna PapachristosShopper

Shopping lists can be quite a hassle.  Different stores require different lists, but juggling a million slips of paper can lead to forgotten items.  Creating one list with all your desired items can make your task seem daunting – also resulting in confusion.  Luckily, you can dig yourself out from under that pile of mounting lists with a single app – Shopper by MidCentury Software.

Shopper provides a user-friendly interface that offers more features and options than your local grocer’s bread aisle.  To examine every last detail would be like analyzing every apple in the produce section and trying to find that which is most symmetrical – nearly impossible and unbelievably time-consuming.  (Yes, THAT’S how much this app has to offer!)  Instead, let’s browse Shopper and highlight the truly great deals before we fill our cart too high to see!

Upon first loading of Shopper, users are asked for their zip code.  As a way of determining your location, providing this information enables MyFlyers, which keeps track of what is on sale at the various stores in your area.  Shopper searches through the flyers of top retailers (Target, Best Buy, Home Depot, etc.) for you and alerts you as to what is on sale and where, based on items that you have listed.  With one click, Shopper will help you remember exactly where to find that great deal!

After the initial setup, users can begin creating their own itemized lists.  Tapping on the ‘Lists’ button in the top left corner of your screen will take you to the page that shows you every list you have created.  Shopper starts you off with a general ‘Shopping List’ to guide you in the right direction.  Here, users can create multiple lists for multiple stores, with the ability to categorize their lists according to need (automotive, children, clothing, electronics, grocery, home & garden, pet, travel).

Within each individual list is a menu at the bottom of the screen.  On the far right, you will find a gear-like icon that allows you to access the app’s settings menu.  Users can use this to change their zip code, turn off MyFlyers, and calculate for taxes, amongst many other preferences.  The arrow icon alongside the gear allows you to sync and share their list with other family members and/or link it to the Shopper Connect web portal designed specifically for planning and managing your lists online. You can also email their list, cart or both.

The ‘Cart’ icon in the bottom left corner of the screen allows users to create a list of what they have in their cart as it accumulates, or create an inventory of what they already have in their cabinets and pantry.  This organizational tool helps users keep track of what they already have and what they’ve bought.

Next to the cart, you will find the ‘Aisles’ icon, which provides a list of practically every item you could possibly want to buy.  From cream cheese to camcorders, users can browse the aisles, adding items to their list as they come across them.

For each item, users can include their own notes and photos.  Lists can also be password protected so no one can see what items you need for that secret project you’ve got going!

In the middle of the bottom menu we find the ‘+’ icon, which allows you to simply type in an item’s name without having to search the ‘aisles’ for what you need.  However, you don’t necessarily need to type in the desired item.  With their RedLaser Barcode Scanning (U.S. only), Shopper turns your iPhone’s camera into a barcode scanner simply by tapping the ‘Barcode’ button in the top right corner when you press the ‘+’ icon.

Position the item’s barcode within the given parameters and your phone will automatically scan it, adding the item to your list after searching multiple product catalogs to find exactly what it is.  (MyFlyers will even tell you if it’s on special locally!)  Convenient for itemizing your pantry or creating a list while shopping, this barcode system is surely Shopper’s greatest feature.

Users will also find Shopper’s FDA/USDA recall alerts useful, as they will announce when products you may specifically been interested in are recalled or in question.  Sponsored ads catering to your shopping interests provide another convenience, linking you to recipes, contests, coupons and more.  (This characteristic can be turned off with a paid upgrade subscription, which can be processed under the settings menu).

Of course, Shopper has much more in store, with new characteristics popping up during each use.  And at the low price of $.99, this immensely abundant array of features is a true value, if not a steal.  So put Shopper at the top of your list of apps to buy!

Shopper requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later and is compatible with the iPhone.

Redo – Task List You Can Reset is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Available In: App Store       Price: $1.99 or Free (Lite Version)

RedoI had been looking for a long time, when I found this app, for a task list app I could use for repeating tasks. This way I don’t have to write my list over again or uncheck every task. Once you check off everything, you tap the refresh button in the bottom left and it resets the list. You can also make more than one list. You can drag around lists to reorder them and individual items within the lists. This is a big feature for me too because if a task suddenly becomes high priority I can drag it to the top.

The icon for the app supports badges and the number represents how many tasks are left in the currently opened list as default. You can make it show only lists you favorite or all lists or none.

Overall, I like this app because of it’s simplicity. It just works. This applications is on my first page of my iPhone.
