For productivity and organization junkies, this is the perfect App for sharing and printing your Calendars, anywhere, straight from your iPhone. For my review of CalPrint, I’ll first look at its usefulness as a Calendar App and then describe the printing feature, which is the highlight of this app from EuroSmartz, Ltd.

At first, you may notice that CalPrint has a similar look and feel to the built-in Calendar App with iOS4 — a basic layout with several views. My favorite is Month View, but with this App you’ll find it different than the built-in Calendar App as it actually shows your events on the dates instead of just a marker for events with descriptions below. This is a common theme in third party calendar Apps, as most people want to see the information about their upcoming events all at once within this view. This is a greatly appreciated change from the built-in App. Another feature that I always enjoy is how one can navigate in this view to the next month. More and more Calendar Apps are offering side-swiping for this, and CalPrint is no exception. A fantastic idea for ease of use, and a definite plus over the regular Calendar (which I find out be a little cumbersome to navigate sometimes).

The Day View gives you a basic hour-by-hour layout similar to the iOS Calendar App, but also has the side-swiping feature of going from day to day along your schedule. CalPrint also has what they call ‘week view’ which allows you to basically see several these hour-by-hour day schedules at once, in a week-long format. You can also zoom in & out to get fewer or more days (up to 7) in this view. It’s an interesting addition, and while I still prefer Month View, I’m sure someone will have this as a favorite too.

The final view is List, and here we have something a bit special as well. Instead of listing basically all of your upcoming events, you can customize which events this list shows. Your options are by date ranges, and offer quick-taps for lists like ‘next week’ or ‘this month’ or you can custom build a list from specified dates. Really fantastic if you simply want your schedule while you’re on vacation, or on a business trip, or something else of that nature.

Now that you’re familiar with viewing your calendar, let me quickly go over editing. It’s fairly simple. In every view you have the same top-bar that offers three choices – Edit/Add Events, Email Calendar and Print. Obviously to add events you’ll want the first option, and adding events is as simple as filling out the same details as you would in the built-in Calendar App. Just make sure that you’ve selected the proper date, as it won’t auto-select the date, even in Day view.

If you have a Wifi Printer and your iPhone is on the same network, the App should automatically detect and be able to print just fine. If you don’t have a Wifi Printer but still have your printer shared on your network you’ll have to download the WePrint Software (don’t worry, it’s free!) to manage the printers. One final trick is that using this software you’ll actually be able to print from your iPhone regardless of the network. This allows you to print something via Wifi or even 3G someplace else. You can find these settings within the WePrint’s Print via Proxy preferences. The other built-in sharing option is via email; you can email a PDF document to yourself, or anyone else, which is convenient for printing later.

Sadly, while this App is very functional and absolutely useful, it does have a couple design flaws. First and foremost is the fact that it does not show multi-day ‘All Day’ events over the course of each day. It only shows up on the day that it begins. Secondly, I did mention earlier that even in Day View you’ll have to manually enter in which day you’ll want to add your event too – not a big deal, but still a bit bothersome. And while the Email via PDF is a fantastic feature, sadly my PDF was blank.

Finally I do want to note the extensive support and help that EuroSmartz offers on their website. Not only a full support document section, but also how-to videos on setting up and using the WePrint software.

While there are some drawbacks, this is still a great App to have around. It’s useful and simple. While you might not find it to be the perfect app for customizing or using as an everyday Calendar App, it’s definitely perfect for viewing and quickly editing when need be, and you’ll be able to print and share your calendars from anywhere. If you’re a calendar junkie, and even if you’re not, I highly suggest checking it out.

My biggest suggestion for this app would be to incorporate a means to track books that people have read, because that seems to be a common trait among avid readers. That could be as simple as a long, uncategorized list or as nice as breaking it out by genre (possibly pulled from amazon’s website as well), author, or similar categories / ordering.

All in all if you are an avid reading looking for a quick and easy way to keep track of your future reading list you may want to give My Reading List a look. It’s currently on sale in the App Store for $2.99 and currently is available as an iPad only version.

Appigo Todo Released for the iPad

Appigo Todo Released for the iPad is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Appigo Todo, one of our favorite iPhone todo applications has been released for the iPad. This version supports all of the great functionality of the iPhone version with an enhanced display to take advantage of the extra screen area.

Appigo Todo for the iPad includes the great syncing functionality of the iPhone version. Meaning that you can keep your iPad, iPhone, and desktop all in sync. Fantastic feature. Looks like Appigo have decided to go with the familiar datebook design for the app. While it’s something that is familiar to many, and certainly something that matches with Apple’s own Calendar app, I hope to see more advanced view options in the future. Possibly a power users view.

As it is now, Appigo Todo is a fantastically functional todo / GTD app and the best one available for the iPad by a mile. The added benefit of being able to keep iPhone, iPad, and desktop in sync is icing on the cake.

Appigo Todo for the iPad is available on the App Store now at an introductory price of $4.99.

Contest: We also have 2 copies to give away. Check our Twitter stream @148Apps for details later today.

WorldCard Contacts Helps Condense Connections

WorldCard Contacts Helps Condense Connections is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Price: $1.99    Score: 7/10    By Anna PapachristosWorldCard Contacts ? THE Contact Organization and Business Card Management Tool!

Today’s business world is all about networking.  Whether you’re well-established, or just getting your foot in the door, the people you meet could have a great influence on the future of your career.  But with every new contact comes a new business card so you and your new connection may keep in touch.  The only difficult thing is keeping so much information organized and at-hand so you will benefit from your successful networking efforts.

With WorldCard Contacts, Penpower Technology Ltd hopes to provide an invaluable service by allowing users to compile all their business card information into one iPhone application.  Described as THE contact organization and business card management tool, WorldCard Contacts combines all your contacts with the images of your business cards as taken with the iPhone’s camera.  WorldCard Contacts connects with you iPhone’s pre-existing Contacts with an interface that closely resembles that of the Contacts list, in fact, featuring Favorites, Recents and Keypad.

When viewing contacts in list mode, your screen looks almost exactly like the traditional Contacts list, which is a fantastic way of making WorldCard Contacts familiar and user-friendly.  With the ‘+’ button, you can add contacts, while you can edit contacts details and update information by tapping on their name like usual.

Tapping ‘All’ in the upper left corner takes you to a list displaying your iPhone contacts, WorldCard contacts or both.  Here you can then tap ‘Edit’ to create a new category in order to organize your contacts and make searching for the right person easier.  By editing your contacts, you can then assign them to whichever category you choose.

For contacts that have a business card you wish to enter, simply use the ‘Cards’ tab in the bottom right corner or the camera icon in the navigation bar at the top of the screen, which allows you to take a picture of the actual card and keep it in your own digital sort of business card binder.  This allows users to scroll through their cards and contacts in one convenient place.  Users can also quickly search for specific contacts with the Search bar at the top of the screen in both List and Card mode.

WorldCard Contacts claims that users can then make a call, send texts or emails, browse a company’s website or pinpoint them on a map with the use of a single button right from the card’s screen.  However, all isn’t as easy as it sounds.  The biggest drawback is that, in order to do so, users must manually enter the information that appears on the card into their WorldCard Contacts database in order to use such features easily.

The only way to avoid having to manually enter your contacts’ information is by downloading WorldCard Contacts’ companion, WorldCard Mobile, for another $5.99.  This app promises to enter your contacts information directly from the card via capturing and recognizing technology.  However, if you’re content with spending a little extra time to manually enter all the necessary information, WorldCard Contacts should suit your needs just fine.

Oddly enough, WorldCard Contacts’ greatest feature just may be its ‘Help’ page.  Indicated by a small, gear-like icon in the top right corner of the screen, this section is so comprehensive and simple, it will surely have the answer to any problem or question you may encounter while using WorldCard Contacts.

WorldCard Contacts requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later and is compatible with the iPhone. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.

iPhone App Review - iBlueSky

iBlueSky ($9.99)

Version 2.10

REVIEW – “A great way to organize your thoughts, notes, research…just about anything!”

iPhone App Review - iBlueSkyAs a writer and researcher I am always looking for ways to organize research papers, notes and especially storylines. iBlueSky does all that for me and so much more. It allows me to create a very clear and very customizable mind map that is perfect for anyone who is trying to organize anything important.

When you first open the app you are graced with two premade mind maps which explain how iBlueSky works and the upgrades that can be found in the iBlueSky version 2 upgrade. Spend a minute or two going through the mind maps and you’ll find more uses for the app that you might have initially thought.

Then comes the fun part making your very own mind map. The program does not come with instructions but it is completely easy to use. You start off with the center of your mind map which will also be the title of your project or mind map. Once you have this center bubble created then click the plus sign to add a branch. Give that branch a topic and then add more branches, and then more branches. Before you know it your project is completely organized and ready to make it to the final product.iPhone App Review - iBlueSky

Some things that I really like is that if you click a bubble and then click edit you can change the color of the bubble or add details for future reference. You can even click each bubble and move it around if it makes you see things clearer. You can zoom in and and out and very easily move through your mind map so it moves as quickly as your thoughts do.

Another great thing is that you can easily export it as a pdf so that it can be easy to see on  your computer and don’t worry about the size of your project either because the screen of the mind map gets very large, 1500x the size of the iphone screen. So you’re only limited by your imagination.

Anything that can help me organize my thoughts and easily arrange things into a natural progression is a great help. Whether you are working on your career or you’re a student this will be a very valuable tool.

iPhone App Review - iBlueSkyNow you might be a little turned off by the price but after looking at a few other mind mapping tools I really think that if you are going to spend the money on any mind mapping tool, it might as well be this one. The ability to put more information in the bubbles, change their arrangement and change their color and this allows for much better organization and creativity.

Personally I love it. As you can see from the pictures I have already started using it to organize some of my research and it is perfect for getting my thoughts together.
