I was part of a school camera club when I was a kid. We took photos for an hour and then headed back to the ludicrously cool dark room to develop our snaps of fairly boring subjects like fields and trees. I always thought we could have made these aesthetically dull pictures a little more exciting if we could have at least experimented with a few new chemicals during the development process but sadly, according to Mr Slatter, that’s not the way it’s done.
Prasie be then that SwankoLab has emerged from the same snap-happy bunch that brought us the excellent Hipstamatic, allowing me to indulge my photographic alchemy right on my iPhone without a teacher to stunt my manic creativity.
A virtual darkroom filled with image-adjusting chemicals awaits when you first fire up SwankoLab. It won’t take much play with the delicious interface before you’re applying saturation and bleaching effects to your existing iPhone snaps. Pick from any of the available bottles on the shelf above your development tray, read what their effect will be and then drop them into the mix. There is a limit to how many chemicals you can use in one sitting (as should be the case with all hazardous materials you experiment with) which is a blessing given how easy it is to get carried away.
Your image is then processed in an attractive yet fairly time consuming manner before being hung out to dry while you preview it. From there you can share your image, name the formula used or trash it altogether. On more than one occasion I did find that an image didn’t develop at all, however. Rather than feel my pride swell as my original image appeared from its bath of property tweaking liquid, my heart sank as I looked at a blank print. Whether it was the photo I chose, the type chemicals I mixed, witchcraft or perhaps FBI censorship, I don’t know. I guess, as is true of any experiment, sometimes it just doesn’t work.
That slight niggle aside, SwankoLab is a fun app that allows you to achieve similar retro effects to your Hipstamatic shots but using photos you’ve already taken and even those imported from your computer which makes it endlessly reusable. Combine that with the many chemical combinations at your disposal and the option to buy more and you’ve got an immensely enjoyable and creative tool at your disposal.
With IncrediBooth and Hipstamatic already under their belts, the guys at Synthetic Corp are quickly becoming the best photography developers in the business. And now they’ve added SwankoLab to the fold, I mean “developers” in more than one sense of the word.

Ever taken a photo on your iPhone and wished you could brighten up the image, or even change the color completely? ReColor, a new photography editing app, is boasting that it can do just that.
This is the first app from German developer Sebastian Heymann. The app is designed to change the color of people and objects in a natural way, so no masking the highlights or lowlights of an image or going ‘over the lines’.
ReColor certainly does what it describes. After uploading a picture to the app (you can use the camera inside the app too), all you need to do is select the “add” button from the side menu and tap where you want the new coloration to go. A point mark will be then added to the image for the chosen area. The points can be moved around the image and also removed with the side menu options and tapping on the selected point. The color, contrast and visibility can be altered on the menu at the bottom of the app.
The app is definitely easy to use, with settings and options kept to a minimum so the user doesn’t get too confused. The side menu could do with a little more explanation, but simple tapping around when you first get the app sorts the problem. The coloration is particularly striking with bold objects, especially linear objects. It’s easy to get carried away snapping random objects and changing the color for fun.
The appearance of the app, however, could be neatened. Although the app is clearly aiming for simplicity, which it does well, the app’s design is a little too simple, especially the random hand icon on the loading page. Also, the color change does have a flaw — it struggles with more obscure shapes, rough edges or small areas. It doesn’t matter how many points you add to the area or how visible/contrasted the change is, the color barely changes. The app seems to merely tint rough edges.
However it could be argued that it’s a fault with the iPhone 3G/3GS’s camera being occasionally low in photo quality in bad lighting. The tint can have its bonuses though; if you are trying to give yourself a tan in holiday photos, you can rest assured it will definitely look natural and subtle!
Overall, ReColor is a great app for changing the color on clear, bold images, and you are bound to spend hours fiddling with the pictures already stored on your iPhone. The app is also superb in not taking away the natural proportions of a photograph. However, the app is hindered somewhat by the limitations of the camera which can be very frustrating, and the appearance could be improved. Overall, this app has a lot of potential, and is a wise investment at $1.99.

Trick Your Ride – iPhone App Review
Trick Your Ride – iPhone App Review is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Trick Your Ride ($0.99)
Version – 1.0
Review – “Create the car of your dreams with this unique app!”
If you’re a car enthusiast Trick Your Ride may be right up your
alley! Trick Your Ride is a photo editing app that offers you tools to change the appearance of everything from the window tint to the tire rims and accessories! You choose one of the stock photos, or take your own photo and create your dream car!
When you open this app for the first time you’ll be greeted by some background music. This is one of five different custom tracks that you can set and listen to as you create your dream
machine! If one of these is not to your liking you can also use a song from your iPod music library or choose not to play a song as well. This is done from the “Music” menu on the editing screen. Unfortunately it seems that there is no way to edit the background music directly from the main menu of the app.
The main menu screen has 4 buttons. In the upper right corner of the screen is a help button. This takes you to a scrolling window that is full of information on how all of the options within the app work. It is pretty long, but it is also very descriptive and makes it easy to figure out how some of the more complicated features work.
The other three buttons allow you to take a photo with your iPhone’s camera, use a picture from your
library, or use a template that is built into the app and get started! Once you select your photo you’ll see a menu bar
above your photo. This bar is full of all kinds of things that you can use to “Trick Your Ride.”
The first button in the menu takes you back to the main menu. The next button will open up the aforementioned music settings screen allowing you to select the right music to fit your mood! Right next to that button is the “Background” button. This button will bring up a screen with a few template backgrounds and the option to select a background directly from your photo library! It took me a second to figure out how this one works because it doesn’t show up right away. To make the background show up you actually have to erase whatever is in the foreground in front of it. This is explained in the help feature that I mentioned earlier.
The next two buttons allow you to zoom in on the areas that you’re working on and erase things that you don’t want any longer. The zoom feature uses the iOS “pinch” zoom gesture, and the eraser has a slider that allows you to set it to a variable size. The largest size is about the size
of the tip of a finger, and the smallest size is so small that I couldn’t really even see it without looking very closely.
The next four buttons are where the core of the optimization features lie. You’ll find everything from wheels that you can overlay on top of the ones in your photo, down to all kinds of accessories and the ability to overlay text on top of your image! If you need to touch up your photos with a different color can do that with a pen that has variable size, opacity and color. Once you have your photo all finished it’s time to save your work. Touching the button in the upper right corner of the screen will allow you to quickly save it to either your image gallery or directly to FaceBook!
If you enjoy fun photo apps with clip art this one definitely has a unique feel to it. If you also enjoy cars and spend many of your waking hours dreaming about your ideal car, then this is simply an app that you will not want to miss! Either way you’ll be glad to know that you can download this app today for just $0.99 from the iTunes Store. So what are you waiting for? Download your copy today!

This app allows you to take pictures or video with the volume buttons instead of trying to hit the little button on the screen. It should help you to keep the camera more still and keep from blurry photos. This only works when the camera app is open or other apps using the camera feature. The news here is that it had been updated to work with 4.0 firmware so now you can use it to take HD 720p video! This is one of my top jailbreak apps that I just gotta have. … [visit site to read more]

Fotomecha — Photography apps for iPhone are abundant and range from kid-friendly to technologically endowed.
Though the iPhone gets its share of rebuke for poor camera quality (at least pre-4G), I’ve seen quite a bit of high-quality creativity come out of some users. And, while i can’t replicate others’ creativity, I can appreciate it when I see it. Being able to create, even with the simpleton camera built into the iPhone, is made possible with the wide variety of photography apps available and though Fotomecha is just one more, it deserves a closer look.
Brought to you by emotionale, Fotomecha is a serial shooting camera with multiple lens simulation. You can capture a subject in a series of photos or create brief animated gifs, add different effects, and upload directly to Twitter or Flickr. Though it doesn’t provide terribly high resolution, Fotomecha provides room to expand your iPhone photography. (…)

Animals’ World HD – iPhone App Review
Animals’ World HD – iPhone App Review is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Animals’ World HD ($3.99)
Version – 1.0
Review – “Explore the animal kingdom in HD!”
Most of us grew up with picture books of animals. As children these books help us learn about all kinds of different animals. Animals’ World is basically a picture book on your iPad, but the great thing is that it costs a fraction of what a physical book does, and
it also offers a lot of other great features that you won’t find in any animal book!
When you download this app and open it you’ll see a screen with a bunch of animals on it. You can scroll through all the various animals that are available by dragging your finger across the screen. When you find an animal that you’d like to take an in depth look at just touch it and the app will zoom in on it.
When you have an animal selected there are four buttons you can press, one in each corner of the screen. In the upper right corner of the screen is a “zoom” button. Touching this will zoom in so that you can see all of the detail of the beautiful high-res images. Most of these images are large enough
that you have to drag around the screen to see the entire thing.
In the lower left corner of the screen is a button with a ruler on it. Touching this button will show a silhouette of an average sized man next to the animal. This gives you an idea of the relative size of the animal.
In the lower right corner is a button with a globe on it. This button will show you a map of the globe with all of the areas where that particular animal lives
highlighted. You can rotate and view other ares of the globe by touching it and dragging around. At any time if you want to go back to a previous screen, the upper left corner of the screen is a back arrow that will take you back.
The strength of this app definitely lies in the both the quality of it’s images and in the large amount of animals that is included. A couple of things I noticed on the other hand are
that the globe is a little bit confusing to rotate, and it would have been nice if the app pronounced the names of the animals for small children that can’t read.
All things considered though, I could definitely see this app being a great way to expose your young child to the world of animals! While it would be nice to maybe see a few new features added, the interface is clean and simple, and there really is a lot of content.
As with a lot of “HD” apps for iPad I think it is probably a little overpriced. With that said, it is definitely cheaper than buying a physical book with animal pictures. If this app sounds interesting then what are you waiting for? Click the link below and check it out for yourself today!

Wide Angle Review
Wide Angle Review is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Price: $3.99
Version: 1.0.0
Design Rating: 3.75 out of 5 stars
Features Rating: 2.75 out of 5 stars
Integration Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
Overall Rating: 3.17 out of 5 stars
Wide Angle is a news photography application that takes images from “big picture” posts – a collection of stunning snapshots, usually at least ten, from a single news story. Short captions are then applied, with the images being the centre of attention.
Presently, there are only two sources to view – The Big Picture and CBC Photo Galleries. There are a significant amount of galleries to view from within these two sources, but this is nonetheless a heavy limitation on the application. We hope that future updates will add more sources.
Navigation is simple, with a single vertical column along the left that lists the titles of all of the galleries. A circle beside them highlights which ones you’ve looked at fully (grey), partially (half grey half blue) and which ones you haven’t seen yet (blue). Viewing the images themselves reveals the Apple-style fast scroll feature, first seen on the iPad and now introduced on the iPhone with iOS4. This is very nice integration – it gives Wide Angle a much more official, respectable feel to it and makes it easier to navigate your way around particular galleries. The images are of reasonably high quality, making good use of the iPad’s generous display.
The captions have some opacity to them, and are limited in size which focuses the attention on the pictures. Captions can turned off with a single tap and remain that way for that particular gallery. Everything bar the picture (and caption, if you have them on) fades away after a few seconds, allowing the picture to take up the entire screen with no distractions. You can scroll the pictures manually with flicks of the finger if you wish.
Its drawback is its lack of sources. It operates by pulling pictures from specific RSS feeds, but there is no way to add your own. In addition, there is no search for a specific gallery. You can share a gallery link over e-mail, but Facebook and Twitter users are left empty-handed. What Wide Angle provides it does with precision: high quality, mesmerising images. It just needs to offer more.
