iPhone App Review: Promise2Pray

iPhone App Review: Promise2Pray is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Have you ever found yourself awake at night babbling aimlessly at the ceiling and not making a clear objective? Have you ever thought to pray for someone and forgot what their request was? Prayer is a powerful tool for a believer i used correctly. Often times a person may use a journal to help with organizing and recollection of their prayer list. This app is an electronic prayer journal that will assist the user in recalling their prayers, help to organize them into categories and acts as a reminder to the user.

Promise2Pray Pros:

I first started using this app a few days ago with expectations of a simple little app that would look good and ultimately not be used by myself. So far I have only seen the benefit from using Promise2Pray. The first thing that I have noticed simply was the amount of prayer requests that I had in my head seemed much larger when written down in this app. You can sort through your prayer list by category such as “Petition” and “Thanksgiving”. This was neat because it helped me visualize where my struggles and blessings are in my life. Beyond the capability to just categorize prayer, it has functions to: add prayers for the future, add contact info for someone you are praying for, search archived prayer, and add categories of prayer to sort into. It does all of this and still manages to look and function great.

Promise2Pray Cons:

One minor thing that I would like to see Promise2Pray have is contact photos. This is definitely not a necessity for this app but some people may like to associate a face with their prayers. Another great upgrade to this app would be the ability to password protect certain prayers. I say this because I prayed for guidance in considering proposing to my (now) wife a few years ago and if I was using an app like this at the time; her stumbling upon it may have ruined the surprise. Push notification would be a welcomed add to this app to remind the user of important dates in their prayer lists.

I did like Promise2Pray a lot. I was right in my initial assumption that it would be a great looking and functioning app but I was very wrong when it came to personal usefulness. I see myself using Promise2Pray for a long time and would recommend this app to anyone who is looking for some organization of their prayers and a great way to be reminded of what to be praying for.

Pros:

- Categories
- View archived prayers
- View Future prayers
- Ability to add contact info
- Helps with overall organization of prayers

Cons:

- Contacts can’t add photos
- No password protection for sensitive prayer
- No push notifications

I give this app an 7/10 for looking great and potential long term usefulness, but still needs a few upgrades

Imagine yourself getting ready to leave church and you are stopped by a friend. She mentions her need for prayer about an upcoming job interview. After assuring her that you will pray, you step out into the lobby and see your daughter’s coach. Ten minutes later you promise to pray for his upcoming surgery and walk to the parking lot. The youth pastor catches up with you to talk about the youth concert on Wednesday night. Both of you agree to pray about allowing an offering for the bands and you get into the car. iPhone App Review: iTalk to God

iPhone App Review: iTalk to God is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

The app scene is full of programs like FML (and many variations of FML) that highlight the negative aspects of life and offer only an option for users to agree or disagree that someone’s life sucks. iTalk to God offers a completely different way to face issues and emotions that come up in life. Would it not be nice to tell an app how you feel and the app return with a positive and spiritual way of dealing with that feeling? Well this app may be just the thing that you need to get through life and feel good about the way you face your issues.

iTalk to God Pros

iTalk to God had a positive message that is hard to ignore. The Bible verses don’t always say that it will be an easy road ahead, but they help you to remember that God always has it under control. This app has a great selections of problems or emotions that a person may be struggling with and addresses them with sound advice and scriptural reference (over 70 topics). iTalk to God has easy to use controls and easy to read font that makes using it a pleasure. You can even choose and download your favorite translation. There is a free version of this app that allows you to try before you buy, but I am sure that if you are one that likes a spiritual pep talk from time to time, this app is for you.

iTalk to God Cons

The paid version offers a wider selection of verses that accompany the different categories but this still feels a bit restrictive. For example, I know of many verses that pertain to anger and this app does not cover them all. While using this app I felt that a forum type discussion section would be a helpful way for people to give and receive spiritual advice. Sometimes it is nice to hear a good suggestion from another human and not a pre-recorded response to an issue. Then again, the app is called iTalk to God.

Pros:

- Positive message for most instances
- Good selections of emotions and struggles
- Gives you the ability to try it out before buying it
- Easy to read font
- Extra suggestions to accompany the verses

Cons:

- May be room for a social application
- A little restricting or lacks depth

It was a nice change to see an app that encourages people with solid scripture and biblical suggestions. For all of the apps that offer or highlight negative aspects in life with no answer, it is nice to see an app that has a different spin on life’s little struggles. I liked this app a lot and would suggest it to anyone who would benefit from spiritual advice (a.k.a everyone!)

I give this app a 9/10 because of the positive message.

Virgin Mary Candle: A Simple, Spiritual App

Virgin Mary Candle: A Simple, Spiritual App is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Price: $0.99    Score 7/10   By Michelle SchustermanVirgin Mary Candle

Sometimes simple is good when it comes to apps – one purpose, one idea, nothing fancy. And sometimes they leave you to wonder…why? In the case of Virgin Mary Candle, I’m leaning towards the latter.

Designed by mopimp productions, Virgin Mary Candle is exactly as the title suggests – a lovely image of a tall, burning candle featuring the Virgin Mary, there to bring light and comfort whenever you might want it.

I realize that very few “light” iPhone apps actually provide any sort of decent light, and I also understand that this is not the purpose of this particular app. Which is good, because while the image itself, and the dim glow it provides, are really quite nice, the quality of the flicker leaves something to be desired. The flame jerks in a somewhat erratic way, and if the glow actually could light a room, it would bring a more strobe-light effect than the warm glow of a candle.

When you open the Virgin Mary Candle, the candle is high, and it gradually burns out and becomes dimmer as it does so. If you want to reset it, or bring it up or down to any level, just double tap at any spot on the candle.

Tap once to bring up the “shop” option, which allows you to purchase any of the other religious candles to your collection for the same price.

And to be honest, it’s the price that’s throwing me the most. I’m no expert when it comes to pricing iPhone apps. However, this is not the first app I’ve come across that offers one simple graphic for some purpose, whether inspirational, practical, or humorous – and most of those, at least in my experience, have been free. I’m not sure this particular one offers enough for the $0.99 price, but if an iPhone owner is looking for this specific type of app, the Virgin Mary Candle may well be worth it.

Virgin Mary Candle requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later and is compatible with both iPhone and iPod Touch
