Mortgage Calculator – The Amortizer – iPhone App Review
Mortgage Calculator – The Amortizer – iPhone App Review is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Mortgage Calculator – The Amortizer ($0.99)
Version – 1.1
Review – “A great app for homebuyers and homeowners looking to refinance!”
Whether you’re looking to buy a new house, or you’re looking at refinancing a property, wouldn’t it be great to be able to figure out what a loan would look like anywhere on your phone? Well now you can
with a $0.99 app called “Mortgage Calculator – The Amortizer” for the iOS!
The app itself is pretty simple. To calculate the costs of a loan just touch the “+” button in the upper right corner of the screen and fill out the information that you see on the screen.
You’ll need to enter the purchase amount, down payment, interest rate, loan term, etc., and then touch the “Calculate” button in the upper right corner of the screen to figure out the costs associated with the proposed loan.
In addition to calculating the actual mortgage cost, you can also add in your escrow as well to get a more accurate number. To do that just touch the “Add Escrow Cost” button at the bottom of the loan information screen. You can then enter in each cost that is a part of your escrow individually, or you can add the total amount of your current escrow if you choose.
The loan breakdown that you get once you’ve calculated it offers a variety of interesting information. It
calculates the total interest that you’ll pay on the loan, the total amount that you will pay on the loan if it goes as scheduled, and a breakdown of how much you will pay each month towards
the interest and principal of the loan!
Another great feature of the app is the ability to generate PDF’s of the loan information and email them to anyone! To do this just touch the “Email PDF” button in the upper right corner of the screen. You’ll get the choice of whether or not to include the amortization schedule or not, and then you’ll be taken directly to a form email with the PDF attached to it.
My personal experience with this app is that it made it very easy to get quick figures on what a loan will cost you. Unfortunately what it does not have is a way to calculate what it will cost you to refinance a loan. With that said, the app is only $0.99, and the PDF email feature is a great way to share loan figures with people while on the go. I’d encourage you to head to app store and check it out for yourself today!

GV Connect Simplifies Google Voice on Your iPhone
GV Connect Simplifies Google Voice on Your iPhone is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Google Voice is a great service – offering US users conference calls, voicemail sharing, international calls, custom greetings, voicemail transcription and more – all for free.
Google hasn’t offered a native iPhone app for Google Voice yet, which is where GV Connect steps in. A new iPhone app, GV Connect enables you to access your existing Google Voice account much faster and more efficiently than by using the browser.
GV Connect allows you to:
- Place calls using your Google Voice number rather than your mobile number – enter number directly, select a contact from your device’s contacts, or call back any number in your history.
- Send and receive text messages (SMS) from your Google Voice number.
- Listen to voicemails and recorded conversations right on your device (allowing you to pause, rewind, or fast forward to any point within the message) – voicemails will also show the transcription of the message when available.
- Mark messages as starred, attach notes to conversations, block/unblock senders, or delete conversations.
- Easily search in your history by contact, message, or note.
- Messages are stored on your device for offline access.
- Composing notes and text messages can be done in landscape mode.
- Quickly change various Google Voice account settings (call forwarding, do-not-disturb, message notifications, …) directly from within the application.
- Automatic checking for new messages while the application is active.
- Direct access to your device’s contacts without needing to synchronize them with Google
- All communication is done with the Google Voice website directly, no need to hand over your account information to a third-party.
- Full support for fast app switching in iOS4 and high-resolution graphics for retina displays.
GV Connect [iTunes Link] is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later.
Audio Class Notes Free – iPhone App Review
Audio Class Notes Free – iPhone App Review is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Audio Class Notes Free
Version – 1.0
Review – “Take notes the easy way for free!”
I found that one of the most irritating things in college was trying to keep up with some of my professors taking notes. There’s just so much information in some classes that sometimes it’s hard to decide what you need to write down. If you have one of those classes you may want to check out Audio Class Notes Free on your iPhone or iPod Touch!
When you open up the app the first thing you’ll see is a menu with three options. You can “Record a new file,” “Play A Recorded File,” or view and edit preferences in the “Options” menu. Inside the options menu you’ll see buttons to select the recording quality,
remove all data from the app, and to add/remove “Classes” which is how all of your recordings are organized!
Once you’re ready to start recording you’ll need to make sure you’ve set up the class that you’re recording notes for, and then touch the “Record a new file” button. To start recording just touch the “Record” button in the upper left corner. At any time you can pause recording, or when you’re finished just touch the stop button stop and save it. You’ll be asked for a name for the recording, and if you don’t give it one then it will be named “Recording #?”.
Once you’ve recorded your class notes to review them later just touch the “Play A Recorded File” button. You’ll be given a list of all the files that you currently have. You can remove items from the list by swiping and touching the “Delete” button that
comes up, or by touching the “Delete Mode” button in the lower right corner and using the “-” buttons to the left of the recordings.
To play a recording just touch it and you’ll open the the playback screen. From here you can not only listen to your recordings, but you can also tag certain parts so that you can quickly find them later. This is extremely easy to do, my only comment would be that there really needs to be a way to delete “tags” just in case you add
one in a place where you didn’t want it, or you named it wrong.
All things aside this is a very useful app, and I was very impressed with how well this app was able to pick up people’s voices, even at a distance. Best of all though it’s totally free! The only thing you’ll have to deal with are the ads that you see at the top of the screen. They are not obtrusive though, and if you choose to view them they are Apple’s new “iAds” so you don’t have to leave the app to check them out!
If you’ve been looking for a voice recording app similar to this one, there is no reason that you shouldn’t at least give this a try. While there may be apps out there with a few extra “bells and whistles,” it is very doubtful that you’ll be able to find a better, easier to use app than this one for free. So what are you waiting for? Click the link below and check it out for yourself today!

AppZapp – Discover the AppStore © 2010 ConIT AG
version 1.2.1
FREE!
AppZapp has been around for quite a while and has brought us apps like “Do Not Press The Red Button”, and many more. They have somewhere around 20 apps in their catalog for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, and they have released a new app to try and sort through it all: Discover the App Store.
AppZapp has released a new app to easily guide you through the AppStore. “Discover the App Store“ is an easy walk through all the apps has to offer, with a simple easy interface. AppZapp also has a “PriceAlarm“ function, that will always inform you of sales or promotions of certain apps you love. You just set up a free account, and select the Apps you want to monitor.
“Discover the App Store” is a great tool to help you find what your looking for in the App Store. It features the same great descriptions and details you’ve come to know from the App Store. It supports App Stores in the US, UK, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
AppZapp Features:
- App offers, free apps and new apps at a glance
- Detailed overview of the apps with pictures and videos
- The feature “Preisalarm“ informs you about markdowns of selected apps
- Watch list for apps
- All changes and updates at a glance
- Browse through all the AppStore categories
- Top 100 list of the most popular apps, sorted by “iPhone“, “iPad“, “Paid“ and “Free“ Apps
- Browse the various AppStores
- Price chart history for each app (30/60/90 days)
- Share Apps via Facebook / Twitter / SMS / eMail
This is a great app for monitoring the App Store. Something the is missing from the actual App Store. Being able to keep an eye on certain apps that you may find a little pricey, and know when there are going on sale, is a terrific feature, that will probably never be included by Apple. The “Changes and Updates at a glance” feature is great, if you’re interested in knowing what has recently been updated, or want to ignore updates and focus on new releases only. Seeing as this app is free, there is no reason we cannot recommend this app.
You can get AppZapp: Discover the App Store now for free, in the App Store. Get it now!

Get Navigon’s award-winning GPS app for free! is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
With the fall approaching and back to school in full swing Navigon has recently decided to lower the price for it’s GPS apps to $49.99 for the USA version and $29.99 for the region specific versions (East, Central, and West). To celebrate this and to help get the word out about their new great pricing scheme, Navigon has been kind enough to give me a promo code for each of their 4 GPS apps to give away!
There are two ways to enter. The first is to tweet the following message – “@appshouter Enter to win Navigon’s MobileNavigator app free. I want ((put your region here)) – http://bit.ly/av0R5z”, replacing the ((put your region here)) with the region of the app that you would like, should you win.
The second way to enter is to leave a comment on this post telling us why you love AppShouter and what region of the app you would prefer if you win!
I will be giving the apps away late Friday night September 10th so don’t forget to enter, and good luck!

Aarde Web Browser Review
Aarde Web Browser Review is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
Price: $1.99
Version: 1.3
Design Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
Features Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Integration Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
Overall Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
Aarde, developed by NicheVision Labs, is a third-party web browser built for the iPad – aiming to minimize the gap between desktop and mobile by offering a number of features not seen in Safari’s iPad browser. These features include: AdBlock, a tool to block advertisements from appearing on screen (which has the side effect of also loading pages faster); private browsing; tabbed browsing; customizable brightness like in the iBooks application; notepad; in-page search (coming to Safari in iOS 4.2); font resizing and the ability to view the source code of the website in hand. For a full list of features, see here or view the screenshots attached below.
Certainly, most of these features already exist on desktop clients. Yet Safari for iPad is lacking in all of the above, providing a focus solely on websites at hand, rather than customization and development. Indeed, with the newly launched Safari Extensions Gallery, one would like to hope that Apple are beginning to branch out into third-party offerings and that such features may soon be available for iPad. Until then, Aarde fills the gap between desktop and mobile browsing with its intuitive browser and selection of tools. On a similar note, the application features “Desktop Browser Rendering” – a tool that tricks websites into thinking that you are browsing the website from a desktop browser, thus avoiding low-bandwidth and low-feature mobile versions of websites.
Most of the features and settings are accessible through a one-tap master settings options, found to the left of the tabs. With such features in one place it makes it easy to find what you’re looking for, something that a number of other applications fall short on by offering numerous, complex settings pages.
Where the application advances in features, I do feel it fails in design. The heavy stroke and lack of iPad integration – in the sense that all buttons and designs are completely to different from what typical apps offer – makes it feel like it was built first and then ported over to iPad, giving it a less professional feel. However, I can see where the developers are coming from – many of these features do not exist elsewhere on Apple applications, thus requiring a new design. The application’s biggest drawback, which is a result of Apple’s platform rather than the developers of Aarde Web Browser, is its lack of primary choice. Whenever you click on links in other applications, if it doesn’t have a web browser built in, it will load Safari. So much of the iPad is integrated with Safari that it just isn’t practical to use two browsers to do one thing. For obvious reasons, it seems unlikely that Apple will ever offer the users to branch away from Safari. In addition, unlike Safari, Aarde has no web caching feature, meaning all tabs will have to reload manually upon startup.
Nonetheless, there are some compelling features in Aarde that make it a worthy adversary to Safari for iPad. If within the extended list of features you find just one or two that are of use to you, Aarde could very well be a worthwhile purchase. At $1.99, it certainly has its price right.

ToucHotel – iPhone App Review
ToucHotel – iPhone App Review is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website
ToucHotel (Free)
Version – 3.2
Review – “Find and book hotel rooms from your phone!”
Do you travel a lot? If so you’d probably be happy to have an easy way to book hotel rooms without talking to a hotel representative! ToucHotel uses an extremely basic search feature to quickly connect you with hotels in the area that you’ll be staying in!
When you open up ToucHotel you’ll see a search bar at the top of the screen. Below that search bar is a list of all of your recent searches if you have any yet. To find a hotel in your area all you have to do is type the name of the city in the search bar
at the top of the screen. Once you do a list of matching results will show up below, and all you have to do is touch one of them to view all of the hotels in that city!
When you touch a city to search inside you’ll be taken to a screen with two scroll-wheels. You can use these to select what day you’ll be arriving and how many days you plan on staying. Once
you have it all set up just touch the “Search Hotels” button at the bottom of the screen.
One thing that I noticed pretty quickly with this app is that there is no way to specify what state you are searching for a city in. For example; there are 39 “Springfield”’s in the United States, but if you search for Springfield you’ll only be shown results for one of them.
With that said, if you do find a hotel that you’re interested in the city you’re aiming for all you have to do is touch it to bring up a screen full of information on it. At the top of this screen is a picture (which you can click on to see more), the name of the hotel, the Hotel’s rating, and four buttons to access info about the hotel, a map of where it is, photos and to share information on the hotel with someone!
At the bottom of every hotel screen you’ll see a list of room types that are available with their current price. Touching any of them will bring up a confirmation screen that will tell you everything about the
room and offer a link to a page where you can actually book the room! All you’ll have to do is enter a name and a credit/debit card to reserve the room, so do that and then touch
the “Book now” button at the bottom of the screen.
My overall impressions of this app were that it is very easy to pick up and use quickly. However, if you have difficulty locating the right hotel(s) in the right cities there is not really any way to do an “advanced search.” You’ll just have to scroll through the results until you can find what you’re looking for!
All things said, the app is free, and does do what it claims to do! If you’ve been looking for the easiest/quickest way to book a room this may be what you’re looking for. If; however, you’re looking for an extremely powerful tool to locate and compare hotel rooms worldwide you may want to check out ToucHotel for free in the App Store today!

One of the many appealing aspects of the iPad is that it isn’t just limited to excelling in one area – like games or entertainment – but in many areas like news, utilities and productivity, thanks to the hard work and determination of developers around the globe. ThinkBuzan, a long-time established developer of mind-mapping tools, brings its latest creation to the App Store in an attempt to show just how powerful yet easy the iPad is when it comes to productivity and thought-gathering.
The first thing that struck me about iMindMap Mobile HD was just how similar the directory design looks in comparison to Apple’s iWork for iPad suite. The result is that the integration to the iPad appears strong. The application looks like it was built especially for the iPad, making use of its exclusive features and designs.
iMindMap does things a little differently than its rivals. Rather than generic text to begin the mind map, you set a central image in which the title of your mind map is enclosed. There are three categories to choose from – Objects, Abstract and General – providing a total of 42 images. As a minimalist I would have preferred a text-only option, which is lacking, but a number of the images are non-intrusive and work well.
A mind map is created with the help and co-ordination of two colours. A red circle signifies that you can draw a new branch, and once that branch is built a blue circle then appears, which allows you to amend and adjust the settings of that particular branch. Such settings include: editing the text of a branch, adjusting whether the branch is collapsed, and adding an icon / URL / note to the branch. The collapsable branch feature is particularly useful, allowing you to focus attention on particular branches. The menu bar along the top provides a quick way to edit the title of a branch, add a picture and to change its colour (40 different types, if you’re wondering). Disappointingly, given the image integration, you can’t add your own pictures from the iPad’s photo library. There’s also a button to automatically sort and organize your mind map, so that everything is aligned correctly and smoothly, which adds significantly to the overall feel of your creation.
Once you’ve watched the getting started video (also available below), iMindMap is very easy to use. There’s not much to learn and what is to be learned can be picked up quickly. A focus has been placed on actual usage of the mind map rather than how pretty it looks, meaning precedence is given to your work. Mind maps can also shared, through exporting as an image or PDF, sent by e-mail. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support DropBox or exporting in other formats like a number of its alternatives do. A mind map can also be presented through a specially designed Presentation Mode, visible in the video below, that works through a VGA connection to the iPad.
The application is certainly more expensive than its rivals. This is certainly the only mind mapping application that I’m aware of that features a presentation mode, which perhaps justifies its cost to some users. For others, a cheaper alternative may be all that’s needed.

Version Reviewed: 1.0.3
iPhone Integration Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
User Interface Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
Re-use / Replay Value Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
Overall Rating: 3.17 out of 5 stars
When? is a simple App with one purpose – it helps you quickly search and add holidays to your iPhone Calendar. Say you have difficultly remembering when Easter isl you needn’t worry because every major holiday by region or country is listed, and, within just a couple taps, automatically added to your Calendar.
For someone who is a self-described Calendar Junkie, I don’t know why I’ve never come across an App like this before. Maybe it’s because I already have a subscription to a Canadian Holidays Google Calendar which automatically gets imported alongside my other Google Calendars into the iPhone App use for this purpose (which is actually not the built-in one at all). So, I’m thinking that the target audience for this app is someone who uses their calendar often, but maybe don’t use an online equivalent and need something like this to simply not have to manually enter important dates.
So that actually leaves quite a lot of users who would benefit from having this App. Actually I quite admire the thought process behind it – having a handy off-line list of events is great, especially if you’re using an iPod Touch, or if you’re one of the rare iPhone users (like myself until the 4’s release) that was not on a Data Plan, this might actually serve a purpose every once in a while – but the ratio is slim.
The App itself is well designed, very organized and easy to use, it imports to the Built-in Calendar App beautifully. If you have your iPhone Cal synced to your Google Cal, and synced back to a different iPhone App for Calendars, it does all seamlessly integrate, so long as you have an wifi or 3G connection. No, the flaw in this App is not its design. It’s it’s usability.
There are a finite number of holidays in a year, and there are an even smaller number of times I need to add those holidays to my Calendar. Paying $0.99 for the privilege of looking this information up offline isn’t really worth it for me. However, if you’re constantly befuddled by holiday schedules, if you are in school, a teacher or otherwise really dependent on knowing and keeping up to date on this sort of information, you may very well find a use for this App.

Shall we all take a brief moment to remember the glory days of Palm Pilots and Palm OS? Those days may be gone, but there are still apps and developers looking to translate their Palm successes to the iPhone. One of the most recent translations is also one of the biggest from the good old days of Palm: Agendus.
Agendus attempts to pull together all of the disparate elements of the classic PIM into a tidy iPhone package. The app contains a multi-functional calendar with full Google Calendar sync, a task or to-do list creator/editor, and a contact manager. On top of that, Agendus’ home screen also provides a quote of the day, a “This Day in History” factoid and the current weather forecast for your location. The ability to edit and create events and have them sync with your Google Calendars is certainly helpful, but I was most immediately taken with the “extended view” for contacts, which allows you to view your list of contacts with their photos, email addresses and phone numbers present as well. This way, it’s easy to look up a contact and with one click connect to him/her via any of the email addresses or phone numbers you have stored for that person. Shouldn’t this already be possible in the iPhone’s existing contacts app? Agendus certainly has the right idea with this.
Google Calendar sync is quick and seamless – probably one of the fastest syncs I’ve seen yet – and I like how you can view a full year’s calendar on one screen. Small black dots are under any date that has an event scheduled, so it’s easy to see where you’ve already committed yourself and where you have open space on your calendar.
The task list is not particularly impressive, in that it isn’t very different from a hundred other task list apps I’ve seen over the years. However, I give Agendus credit for including a decent and functional one that works with the other parts of this suite.
At first glance, I was very impressed with Agendus. But upon extended use, I discovered several dismaying aspects of the app that simply need to be remedied as quickly as possible. For instance, when I tried to use the visual calendar editor to extend the time of an upcoming meeting, the app created another event concurrent with the one already present. Then, when I tried to delete this new event, it created ANOTHER event. I think I ended up with about four or five events happening at roughly the same time, and I still don’t know how to delete them. Then, I began worrying that those new events had been synced to my Google Calendars, so it really created quite a little dilemma.
Likewise, when I tried to edit an event’s details using the typing function, the keyboard came up but obscured some of the necessary commands and functions I needed. I could never figure out how to reach those commands, so I just gave up. While I understand that this is still a work in progress, and that there are bugs to work out in almost every app, there are two points to consider. One: Agendus is a productivity app. Any app that makes this claim, then hinders productivity by its very design flaws, is difficult to trust. And two: Agendus is expensive (by app store standards, at least). At $7.99, it ought to do what it claims to do with only minor reports of trouble. This, alas, is not the case.
My final concern is with the general look of the app. It certainly does many different things, but it doesn’t look or feel as sophisticated as I think it should. The colors are very muted (dull blues and greens) and the entire presentation feels extremely utilitarian. I understand that a productivity app is all about getting things done, but can’t those same things get done with a little more style. Apple inherently knows this. Agendus still has the look and feel of an earlier Palm app and it’s definitely in need of a look and feel overhaul.
I really wanted to like Agendus. I really did. I’m a teacher when I’m not blogging, and I keep all of my daily classroom events on separate Google Calendars. I want and need a way to have perfect access to this information whenever I am away from my computer. Agendus is not the solution I’ve been looking for. In its present state, I can’t see making it my default client for all of my productivity needs. It has great potential, no doubt, but this is one app that should still be in the developer’s workshop.
