Review – “A creative new puzzle game along the lines of the Rubik’s Cube!”
There are lots of puzzle games available in the App Store. Some of
them are very complex, while others are quick and easy to learn. Tessellate has managed to fit both of these criteria! If what you’re looking for is a game that is very easy to learn, but extremely difficult to master, then you may want to check out Tessellate!
When you open the game you’ll start out at a menu with a variety of different modes of play. In Puzzle mode the objectis 
to finish the puzzles in as few moves as possible. Arcade mode, in contrast, does not keep track of how many moves you use, but instead focuses on how quickly you can solve them.
The basic gameplay works by rotating pieces to try and make them match an 
example in the upper left corner of the screen. In the first few levels all you’ll have to do is match the colors. As you get further into the game you’ll have to not only match colors, but also match the shapes that you see inside some of the tiles.
One nice feature of this app is that if you get bored with the built-in puzzles you can actually create your own. Or you can create puzzles to see if your friends can solve them. With that 
said, I doubt that you will be finishing all the built-in puzzles any time soon. There are quite a few of them, and the difficulty ramps up extremely quickly.
I feel that I need to put in a disclaimer here. To say this game gets difficult quickly would be an understatement. This game is definitely not for the feint of heart. I could go on and on about the features and modes of play in this app, but what you really need
to know about it is that if you enjoy insanely addictive puzzle games you’re going to be hard-pressed to find a better one than this.
With that said, the learning curve for this one is a bit steeper than most games, which makes a comparison to the Rubik’s cube a fairly accurate one. However, if you’re up to the challenge you will get countless hours of enjoyment from this game. So what are you waiting for? Head to the App Store and start solving puzzles today!

REVIEW – “A creative twist on music games!”
Since the introduction of “Guitar Hero” there have been countless music games created for all kinds of platforms. The iPhone OS platform is no exception. While many of these games have a very similar interface, Likwid has gone out on a limb in an attempt to create a new kind of music game!
When I opened this app up I noticed right away that the graphics and sound were very high quality. With that said the music does get a little bit repetitive after a while, but you can purchase several add-on packs that add both more music and levels to the game!
To get started all you have to do is touch the “play” button in the bottom left corner.
When you start a game for the first time it will take you through a brief tutorial so you kind of know what’s going on. I didn’t really find the tutorial all that helpful, but the game is so easy to get the hang of that you can pretty much just skip through it and you’ll be fine. The basic gameplay consists of you using different kinds of adjustable “orbs” to control the direction of rays of light.
The basic idea is that on each level you will have a certain amount of 
“targets” that you have to get the right color of light to. As you get the correct light going to a target the instrument and/or voice associated with that target starts playing. Once you are able to solve the puzzle you are rewarded with getting to hear a section of the song played.
This is really one of those games that you kind of have to see in order to really understand how everything works. The awesome thing is that the first few levels are included for free! If you do end up really liking it though there is all kinds of paid content that you can add from artists like Smashmouth, David Bowie, Duran Duran, Lynard Skynyrd!
Whether you’re a big music buff or not, this app offers an extremely engaging puzzle aspect to it that makes it fun for anyone! Especially if you’ve been looking for a free app to kill some time I’d encourage you to check this one out. It doesn’t have a ton of levels, but the levels this game does have are engaging and creative. If you’re still reading this now I’m not sure what else you’re waiting for me to say. Go ahead try it today!

REVIEW – “A creative new word game!”
If you’ve ever played word scramble games this one
brings a new twist to that genre! In WordMesh you’ll see a list of letters that make two different words. The letters are in order, but “meshed” together. You’re task is to quickly figure out what the two words are and separate the letters. It may sound simple, but as you get further into the game it gets very difficult fast!
When you open up WordMesh the first thing you’ll see is a menu to start a new game. You’ll notice several small icons at 
the bottom of this little window. These allow you to navigate through several other menu screens. There is a screen to select the difficulty level, a screen to set the audio settings and a screen to access “Scoreloop.”
Scoreloop is a social interface that this app has integrated into it. It allows you to track and compare your scores with your friends. It also has built in support for “Challenges” which allow you to compete against either friends or strangers to increase your
“knowledge.” The interface is easy to navigate and is also integrated into quite a few other games that you can check out by downloading the standalone app from the App Store.
Once you’re ready to start playing all you have to do is touch the “New Game” button and then select a difficulty level. You can also just go to the difficulty level screen and touch one of them and it will start as well. While either way is simple, I was a little confused as to why the menu has both of them.
Once you get started the game’s interface will show the letters in the middle of the screen, and several options along the bottom of the screen. You separate the words by dragging letters up and down to make two separate words. At the end of each “round” there is a word that not only is mixed together but is also out of order. On these words you will have to drag letters horizontally as well as vertically.
If you get stuck there is a “Hint” button in the bottom right corner of the screen. You can’t use it too often though 
because it you will lose time every time you touch it. One the easier difficulty levels you get descriptions to help you figure out what the words are, and as you get further in these descriptions can still be accessed but only by using the “Hint” button.
All in all this game is a lot of fun, and quite addicting! If you’re a big fan of word games like I am I think that you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the unique feel that this game has. It’s not every day that you find a game like that. So what are you waiting for? If these types of games are your thing then head to the App Store today! You won’t be disappointed!

REVIEW – “Enjoy hours of fun with this unique puzzle game!”
I’ve always been a big fan of games that make you think
and “Collider the Game” is an excellent example of one. The basic idea of it is that you have three different kinds of orbs, ones with positive value, negative value, and no value at all. Your goal is to place the orbs in such a way that all of the positive and negative orbs touch and cancel each other out. This may sound simple, but I can assure you it gets quite complex!
I’ll have to admit that at first impression I didn’t think this game was going to amount to much. It’s not the visuals and sound effects that make this 
game though, it’s the gameplay! The main menu just has three options to play the game. You can play it with the sound turned on, with only the sound effects or with no sound at all if you want to continue listening to your music.
When you start the game up you will be taken through a brief tutorial that will teach you how the game is played. As you
play through the different levels you’ll be introduced to all kinds of different elements. These range from tubes that the “particle balls” can travel through to buttons that open doors and all kinds of moveable objects.
The first 10 to 15 levels were all fairly easy, but after that the difficulty level quickly ramps up. A word of warning though, if you get easily frustrated with games like this, there are a lot of levels that 
look easy on the surface but end up requiring precise timing to get through. For the experienced puzzle gamer though this game manages to be just frustrating enough to keep you interested without being impossible. It is also possible to skip a level if you have a lot of trouble with it which makes it easier to stick 
with!
The one thing that I really think would make this a must have game is if it had some kind of high score list. After you finish each level it shows how long it took you to finish it, but it doesn’t save this information. While it is definitely a lot of fun as it is, once you’ve finished all the levels there’s no incentive to try and find optimum solutions.
With that said, the game is definitely worth as couple of bucks and has enough levels to be hours of fun! As if you really needed more reasons to go and grab Collider the Game for your Apple device, this game is on sale for a limited time. That’s right, for the time being you can grab this great strategy game for 50% off, just $0.99! So what are you waiting for? If you haven’t already grabbed this game go download it now before this discounted price goes away!

REVIEW – “If you have not played Eliss, you have not experienced the true potential of the iPhone”
If we are being honest just about every game on the iPhone is either a tweaked version of games we’ve seen before or simply old games on a new console, but I can honestly say I have never EVER played or seen a game quite like this one. Get ready for Eliss because well it’s just cool to play a game this revolutionary, and the game is just plain fun.
Alright when you play this game it might seem a bit confusing, it might even seem confusing after you go through tutorial, but whatever you do, do NOT let that keep you from trying out this game. When I started looking into it, I had no idea what the point of the game way or even how to play. Once I read through the How-To, I still wasn’t quite sure how to play. BUT once I started the game it all really came together.
But the bad thing is that I am not sure I can easily explain it, which is probably why I had no idea how the game really worked until I started playing it. This game takes place in space and what you are trying to do is advance to the next sector by avoiding collisions, making supernovas, growing planets or dividing them…the list goes on. The real purpose is just try to maintain harmony and keep the planets from hitting each other.
To do this you touch the planets and move them around, two like colored planets can combine to make a larger planet. Or you can use two fingers to pull a planet apart and make two smaller ones. This is useful for creating the right size planet for the squeesar that has formed. (Don’t worry it will all make sense once you start playing the game, I promise!)
But the game itself as interesting and intriguing and completely unique as it is, is not the only draw to this game. What is really impressive is that is the most effective and flawless use of the touch controls of any app on the iPhone. You can easily move about and collide planets (or not collide planets) split planets, and then wipe across for the little starbursts.
It is also one of the few games that seems to be just about perfect in every way. The sounds are so great that the game recommends using headphones to make sure that you can clearly hear them. Which by the way if you are in an area where you cannot turn up the sound, then yes put those headphones in because the music and the sound is great.
I will say that it looks and sounds just like some of those other games that changed history such as Tetris and Pac-Mac which just adds to the feeling that this game is really something special. Because so far games have been created and then modified to fit the iPhone, this feels like the first game that was developed and created specifically for the iPhone and it really shows. It’s the type of game that I cannot see playing on any other platform available.
There is a lite version of this game that you can try out for free, but really you might as well just buy the full version because after about two minutes of the lite version you’ll be as amazed and addicted as I am.

REVIEW – “Unique concept is a winner!”
This game has been out for several months, but the developer just added a global high score list allows you to compete with people all around the world! Spikey’s Bounce around is a game where you must free a bunch of butterflies. While this may sound dumb at first, the game will quickly grown on you because it is both easy to learn but at the same time very difficult to master.
When I opened this game up for the first time my first impression was that the graphics were a little cheesy. Once you really get into the game though they definitely add to the feel 
that the developer was aiming for. Everything from the games menu’s to the characters and backgrounds is extremely simple but sharp looking.
The main menu offers you two real options, a “Start” button to start the game and an “Options” menu. There is also a “more games” button but that simply opens up a web browser with a webpage that has information on other games by Donut Games. The menu contains a few basic options, as well as a global high score list in the “Options” menu, but unfortunately there are no controls 
in this game for sound.
Once you start the actual game you will select the level that you want to play. Every time you finish a level you unlock a new one until all of the levels are unlocked. On the level select screen you will notice a “Total” in the upper right corner which will show your total score for all of the levels that you have completed. This is the score that is used to compete with other users in the global high score list.
Not only will you see your total score in the level select list, but you also will see your score for each individual level on the left side underneath the levels name. The first few levels are extremely 
easy and the further you get into the game the more difficult they are. The basic concept for gameplay is that you touch the screen in the direction that you want to send “Spikey” flying. There are various different types of walls and objects that Spikey will either stick too or bounce off and gain extra momentum!
The further you get into the game the more objects are introduced, and some of the levels even get larger. While all of the levels at the beginning will fit on your screen, as you get further 
into the game there are some levels that are huge! Some of the different objects that you will see are things like bees and spike balls that will kill you; as well as different types of objects that hold up the butterflies that you are trying to free!
If I were to sum this game up in just one word it would be surprising. As I mentioned before my first impression o f this game was that it was cheesy and that it was probably going to be better suited for a younger audience. I was definitely wrong there, and the more I play this game the more I continue to be surprised at just how much fun it is, and also with how often I find myself going back to it. If you are looking for a cheap game that will help you kill some time, you should definitely give this one a look!

REVIEW – “A creative puzzle game with lots of replay value!”
Whether you are a hardcore puzzle gamer, or if you are just looking for a diversion Aztec Quest will keep you entertained for hours! This game is a little bit hard to explain, but the basic concept is that you have to use various objects to get a ball to bounce into a diamond. Once you think you have all of your items set right you just hit “start” and see what happens!
I was surprised when I opened this game to see how quickly it loaded up. The menu is very nice looking, and there are just a couple of quick splash screens. By default there is 
music in the background of both the menu and during gameplay. If you get tired of it you can turn it off in the “Options” menu, or you can listen to some of your own iPod tracks while you play!
If you would like to get detailed directions on how everything works in this game there is an “Instructions” option in the main menu, but I would recommend that you just get started with the “Play” button. Once you touch “Play” you will be given three different options: “Internal Levels,” “Create your own level,” and “Online levels.” One of the best features of Aztec Quest is the fact that it is offers virtually endless replay value. Even once you 
have finished all of the “Internal Levels,” you will find tons of user created levels as well as a level creator!
The first few levels are very simple and are basically to show you how different objects work. While the main function of most objects is fairly obvious, these first few levels will help teach you to think outside the box. Once you select the level that you want 
to play there is a brief loading message and then you are taken to the main gameplay screen. The first time you open a level you will see an outline of where everything is until you touch the screen to get started.
Gameplay consists of you touching and dragging items onto the empty squares. In order to finish a level you need to not only get the ball to hit the diamond, but you have to do it the way that the level designer intended. This 
means that you need to use all of the items that you are given, and not take shortcuts to finish.
While the included levels are a lot of fun, my favorite feature of this game is the ability to download the creations of other users and attempt to solve them. The interface for this is very good and the levels all download very quickly. From the “Online Levels” screen you will see a “Filter” button in the bottom left corner. This will allow you to quickly and easily find the types of levels that you would like to solve. There is also a rating system to help you find levels that the majority of people enjoyed.
Overall this game is definitely a winner. I would encourage you to at the very least try the free version of it! I think if you give it a chance you will quickly find that this game is worth a lot more than the paltry $0.99 that it will set you back. So what are you waiting for? PatternBlox is a simple game of matching colours with objects. The objects in this case are amoebas. These are of different colours and are in blocks of different colours. The aim of the game is to match the correct coloured amoeba with the matching coloured block. You can swap places of two amoebas at a time by selecting them. It is not necessary that they have to be next to each other. So get clicking, swapping and matching!
There are three interesting and fun modes for you to play.
Survival
In this mode you make the matches to complete a level in a preset time, to move to the next level.
TimePanic
In this mode you have to complete as many levels as possible in a pre defined time.
LevelPanic
As the name suggests this level is not bound by time. You can go on playing as long as you want.
Online scores of the game are maintained so that you can see how you fared against rest of the world.

This is one of those games that I could literally play for hours. In fact, I had a hard time stopping once I had started! Flipt is an interesting cross between a “platform” game and a “puzzle” game. The basic idea is that you have to move your character around the screen 
and figure out how to get to the “end” which is a little icon of a running man.
This sounds like a simple concept but it is so much more complicated. There are several types of icons and also movable blocks with the levels. There are some icons that will change gravity to come from the direction that the arrow was facing, some that will 
move blocks around the screen, and others that will destroy certain blocks that are in your way.
Overall the music, sound effects and visuals are very good in this game. While the graphics aren’t so incredible that they stun you, they are very good and don’t distract at all from gameplay. The menu’s are very nice looking, although the font used for the main “titles” in the menu’s is a little hard to read, it also adds to the “street” feel of this game.
While the graphics, sound and concept of this game are
all very good, no game can be considered great without a great controls scheme. Thankfully that is exactly where this game excels! The controls feel surprisingly natural. To move left 
or right you just have to touch the side of the screen that you want to move towards, and jumping is as simple as tapping a second finger on the screen.
Another thing that helps to make this puzzle game much more confusing is what the game is named after as well. You can “flip” your character to the other side of the platform you’re standing on by turning the device upside down. You can only do this in areas where you there is a space on the other side though, and you cannot do it through the moveable/destroyable boxes.
I have played very few games that I feel were even more fun after learning how easy the controls were! If you love fast paced strategy games that will really make you think, this is one of the best games that I have seen in the App Store. At just $2.99, I would definitely recommend that you head to the App Store and download “Flipt!”

This game combines the fun of puzzle games with the cute graphics and adorable little cows. Cows in Space is a great game for fans of Peggle, and while there are a number of similar puzzle games it is rare to find one with graphics this nice and this much game play.
The game starts off with an easy level and complete instructions. The point of the game is to save the cows who are currently trapped in space due to a failed experiment. The way you save them is to make them touch small star circles that will teleport the cows back to Earth. The way you do this is to shoot red balls into space in order to move the objects and get them to come in contact with each other.
The puzzle side of the game comes from the fact that you only have a certain number of shots and you only have a limited amount of time before your cows run out of oxygen. You have to save all of the cows to move on to the next level.
As you progress the levels obviously get harder but it also introduces both good and back objects. There are some that will destroy your cows and others that will provide you with extra shots. Be careful make sure you know what each thing does before you let your cows touch them.
This game offers great graphics and very smooth easy game play. The puzzles get difficult rather quickly which is rather nice because having to go through a dozen easy levels can be tedious.
There are 50 different levels to play through so you will come back to this game time and time again in order to find a way to beat all of the levels. The sounds are also very cute and fit the quality of the graphics.
The only downside I can really see to this game is that overall it is nothing new. The idea of working these puzzles in an area unaffected by gravity is rather fun but other than that the only thing that sets it apart is the graphics and the unique premise to the game.

REVIEW – “Save the rat, solve the puzzle!”
While the App Store has lots of games that tend to mirror old ideas, Sunstorm Interactive has managed to come up with not only a neat game concept, but has implemented it in such a way that you can easily pick it up and play a few minutes, or for a few hours! 
Rescue Razzle is a puzzle game that gives you the task of saving “Razzle.” The basic idea is that you have to remove all of the “crates” that are not encased in metal from the screen without dropping Razzle directly on the floor. Sound corny? Just give this one a chance. I think that you will be pleasantly surprised!
Once you start up Rescue Razzle you will see the main menu with a cute image of Razzle in his cage on top of some crates. Along the right side are four buttons that allow you to start a new game, continue a previous game, find 
information about more games and set the game “options.” If you are not sure how to play there is also a question mark that you can touch to get basic directions on how the game works.
Once you start up your game you will be taken to the main gameplay screen. From here you will see Razzle in his cage up on top of a stack of crates. There are some crates that are covered in metal and others that are not. The way you “save” Razzle is by keeping him from touching the floor, which is covered in either mousetraps or water.
The first few levels of this game were very easy, but it did not take long for the levels to pretty difficult either! As you get further and further into the game you have to figure out different techniques to land Razzle where you want him. The first few levels all start with Razzle directly above one of the “metal” crates that you have to land him on to save him. As you get farther and farther in though, the metal crates will be 
put in much more difficult locations. This forces you to do all kinds of things to move crates around the screen by utilizing gravity as you remove crates!
One of the things that I would like to see in this game is either some kind of high score list, or at least a few more levels. While Rescue Razzle is an excellent puzzle game to just pick up for a few minutes and play, but it’s replay value probably leaves a 
little something to be desired. That being said, I’m sure that the developer will continue to add more levels, and the ones that are already included are very well designed and will definitely challenge you!
All of this to say that if you are looking for some quick fun that will make you think this game is definitely worth the $0.99 that you will spend on it. If; however, you are looking for an in depth puzzle game that will keep you working at it for months, you might want to look elsewhere. That being said, I really did enjoy testing this app and I would definitely recommend it if you like puzzle games and you have a lot of “dead time” already.
