Not happy with the ipod functionality on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch? Looking for a funner and more customizable way to set up your daily listening? Well you may really enjoy MakeMyMusic then!

Developed by Tekton Technologies this app is slick. It looks slicks and it’s a new way to play your music from your iPhone or Apple Device. Let’s take a look ..

When you first open the app it goes to your music to choose a song to start. Hitting the ‘i’ button in the lower right hand corner goes in to a bunch of tweaks you can make to enhance your playback experience. That brings up the Music Options, where you can set which songs play when, the look and behavior of your app, display settings, and much more.

MakeMy Music iPhone App Review 3 MakeMyMusic iPhone App Review

First let’s look at the “My Music” button. By opening this you can actually go into your song list and define which songs you’d like to hear during different parts of the day. So, if you’d like mellow music while sitting in your office, you can set that up while keeping the fun and energetic tracks for later in the day when you need a little pep in your step.

From here let’s look at the “Time of Day” option. This is where you define the app’s different times of day .. i.e. morning, noon, evening, and night. These of course work with the customize tracks that you just set in the “My Music” options.

Going into the General and Display options let you define the user experience, from the background image, to shuffling options, slideshows, and so on.

Ok .. so you’ve set up your music for the different times of day, you’ve tweaked your settings, and now it’s ready to go. Now when you open the app, it determines what time of day it is, then goes into your music listing and retrieves the songs you’ve designated for that time slot. It not only does this but it presents it on a very rich and user – definable screen.

In addition there are some really nice controls built into this app as well. For instance, to change a song you can either set it to act on the shake to shuffle feature or you can simply flick the screen to the next track. Want to change the volume? Just drag your finger up or down the screen and it’s easy as that! Want to change your place within a track? Grab the spinning ball in the middle of the screen and reposition it. There are all kinds of really nice tweaks built into this.

All in all for $0.99 this is a pretty slick app that really bumps your music playing experience up a few notches. If you use your iPhone or Apple Device for music as well I’d suggest heading over to the app store and grabbing a copy of this today. You will be really pleased!

MOG Mobile Music App May Be Spotify For The Rest Of Us

MOG Mobile Music App May Be Spotify For The Rest Of Us is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Those wishing that the currently Europe-only Spotify music streaming service and iPhone app would hit to the rest of the world now have another option – MOG Mobile Music.

The MOG network has been around for a while but its new iPhone app makes it a serious contender in the audio subscription market offering similar, if not better, features by comparison to its rivals.

Highlights of the service include a library of eight million songs and some 700,000 albums that can be streamed to your iPhone over 3G and Wi-Fi and bundled into playlists. An unlimited number of songs can also be downloaded to the iPhone and stored for periods when you’re outside of Wi-Fi or cell areas.

The above features are all par for the course when it comes to this type of app and service but there are a few gems to be found in MOG Mobile Music too. The first is the true on-demand nature of the listening. Songs can be played at any time and repeated unlike many similar services that prevent repeat play, and you can listen to user playlists and customizable artist radio stations on the go. Artist radio isn’t as strict as the others either, with a simple slider determining how much of the artist you hear and how many similar artists are played.

It’s flexibility that seems to be the key difference between MOG and its rivals and, for a $9.99 per month fee, looks set to take a lead in the cloud-based music subscription game.

If you fancy trying out MOG Mobile Music, a three-day free trial is currently available when you download the app. No credit card is required either so you can sample the service risk free during this period.

REVIEW – ” Bring back the golden age of radio by listening to the great old detective stories.”

The Great Detectives of Old Time Radio - iPhone App ReviewThis is truly one of the more unique apps I have ever seen for the iPhone and this time I really mean it. The Great Detectives of Old Time Radio brings back the old radio dramas that used to have people filled with suspense.

Being rather young myself the only reason I have any familiarity with these old fashioned radio shows is because my father (who is also after their time) loves to listen to them on his satellite radio. Any long car trip with my father was sure to be a mix of old radio shows and talk radio. But though we would always tease my father about the “torture” many of the old time radio shows were really rather interesting and fun if you paid attention to them. The Great Detectives of Old Time Radio - iPhone App Review

This app is an extension of a blog of the same name in which a new episode is released every week for each of the five detectives. Which means that you get to follow these classic shows from start to finish and get a new installment each week just like when these shows were originally broadcast over the airwaves.

Each episode is introduced by the host and creator of the blog who gives a fun and easy commentary to start off each episode. This is also a nice way for people who have no experience with old time radio to get a introduction and learn just what these old shows are all about and what made them great.

The five detective stories that you will be able to follow are: Alan Ladd as Dan Holiday on Monday, Jack Webb in Pat Novak for Hire, Bob Bailey in Let George Do It, Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes, and Charles Russell as Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar.

The Great Detectives of Old Time Radio - iPhone App ReviewI think is a great app because it brings this old fashioned fun and entertainment to an entirely new audience and really it is nice to venture back and truly experience what people used to do and enjoy for entertainment.

Some nice features with this app are that if you get a call the broadcast will resume as soon as you have finished the call and you can download the episodes so that you can have access to them even when you do not have access to the internet.Plus playback is great and the sound quality is decent, you might get some distortion at higher volumes but considering the age of these recordings, the quality is great.

This is a great app for kids and adults alike, as everyone will love going back in time for just a moment and becoming enthralled with some of America’s most treasured detectives.

myTtuner is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

In the days before Pandora, Sirius, and Napster, radio ruled the world.  If you didn’t own the album, CD, or cassette, the only way to hear your favorite tunes was the radio.  Your yearning for the latest from Michael Jackson, Nirvana, Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers or U2 could only be satisfied by a radio DJ.

Sometimes you might flip on the radio and catch your favorite song halfway through.  That wasn’t so bad.  Sometimes you only caught the last few seconds of it.  That was bad.

Every now and then, if you were lucky- really lucky- you’d enter a kind of musical zone.  In the zone, you could flip on the radio, catch your favorite song as it was starting and listen to it all the way through.  If you were really in the zone, you could change stations after the song had ended and catch it again, right at the very beginning.

Good times.  I don’t miss them one bit.

Gianluca Falasca’s MyTtuner- The Ultimate Radio operates under the principle that somewhere on the world’s wide web, an internet station is playing a song or an artist you like.  With MyTtuner, you tell it who or what you want to hear (you can enter up to 6 choices) and when the app finds that song or artist, it will let you know (as long as you’re still in the app, of course).  Then, just tap your screen and enjoy on-demand music old school style, minus those pesky subscription fees.  If you really like a station, you can select it as a favorite and listen to it whenever you want.  Do you have favorite artists or groups?  Great!   Save them and the next time the app is opened, you can quickly search for their music.

MyTtuner will also generate a listing of every artist being played at the moment and  update every 60 seconds.

Sweet, right?  Unfortunately, MyTtuner initially had some serious issues with stability; it crashed every time I used it, even after an update designed to eliminate them.  Each crash would erase my saved searches, my saved webcast stations, and music history.  As you can imagine, that was a pretty big disappointment, especially for an app with a $2.99 sale price.

These past couple days though, it seems to be running better.  When it works, it’s great.  When it works, I start to think about terminating my Rhapsody subscription.  But when it doesn’t, it’s quite frustrating.

My only suggestion for improvement- beyond stability- would be MyTtuner’s appearance.  It’s a little dull and could benefit from a colorful makeover.

With a couple more updates and a bigger pool of internet stations to find the music and artists I like, I might just stop feeding my money to Rhapsody and use those monthly fees to buy more apps…

Belkin’s TuneCast Auto Live iPhone FM transmitter ~ Finally Shipping

Belkin’s TuneCast Auto Live iPhone FM transmitter ~ Finally Shipping is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

belkin-tunecast-auto-liveOnly 7 months after the original press release Belkin’s new TuneCast Auto Live iPhone FM transmitter, which was originally tagged as being the first iPhone 3.0 accessory, is finally shipping. Physically the transmitter doesn’t look any different then many of the other transmitters on the market currently. It charges through the car’s 12-volt lighter outlet and connects through the dock adapter with a control module in between. What makes this one special though is the app, ClearSacn Live, that goes along with it. Not only can users manually control all of the frequencies from the iPhone interface but the ClearScan function uses the iPhone’s GPS locater to automatically find the strongest frequency for the best audio quality. The transmitter is retailing for $79.99 and the app is now on the App Store for free.

Version 1.2

REVIEW – “Perhaps the greatest radio app for the iPhone.”

iPhone App Review - Slacker RadioI have been a big fan of radio stations that cater to finding new music based on things you already like. Slacker Radio does this in a way that is effortless to use and full of different ways to modify and edit your station. I love the number of options on this app and the look of it is great as well.

When you first open the app you are given a list of music genres and the options to create your own station. Simply click on find music and then input whatever band, song or genre you like. The station is almost immediately generated. *Note: If you do not have a slacker account you will have to create one first, it is quick and painless.

Once you are playing your station you are given the title of the song, the band, and the album artwork which is always nice. You are even given a sneak peak at what is coming up next. If you like the song, click thiPhone App Review - Slacker Radioe heart and add it to your favorites, if you don’t like it you can choose to either ban the song or the artist.

Now one thing to note is that if you do not have a paid account you are only given six skips an hour so use them carefully. It is also important to note that you can skip a song by pressing the skip button or by dragging your finger across the screen (as if you were looking through your albums in your music library).

If you like a song then simply click on the title and you’ll have access to artist bios, album reviews and even lyrics, which is always nice to have.

All of that can be done by pandora and other free stations but what I like about Slacker is that I can go even further to customize my station. I can choose whether it picks music that is way out there, very similar or just hits. I can even choose how often it plays the songs that I have marked as my favorites. The final way that you can modify your station is that you can pick what time period the music is pulled from whether you want just the classics or jusiPhone App Review - Slacker Radiot current hits, you have that option.

One thing I did notice was that it did not seem to match my music as well as Pandora does. For example my search for Morningwood came up with a Weezer song that was nothing like the songs I enjoy from Morningwood. Whereas with Pandora I can almost always bet that the tone and feel of every song that comes up is going to fit the mood of whatever I picked first. Now this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it expands my horizons a bit and keeps me from getting bored with the radio station. But when I am looking for something that fits a certain theme it can be a little disappointing.

I do like the look and use of this app better than Pandora though. It is very fluid, very fast and it just looks sleek and cool which is something I really like. For free you can’t really go wrong and I highly recommend at least checking it out. I, personally will be using it more than Pandora even though I think Pandora is better with song matching.

iPhone App Review-Pandora Radio

Pandora Radio (Free)

REVIEW—”Radio To Go!”

iPhone App Review-Pandora Radio Okay so I might know what you’re thinking. I have iTunes. Why would I need the radio on my iPhone or iTouch. But Pandora isn’t just any old radio station; it’s your radio station. With Pandora you can create music stations centered around your favorite artist. And let me tell you, Pandora is always on point. It’s uncanny. It’s almost like…it knows you.

From it’s launch, Pandora either a) lets you log onto your existing account or b) create one. From this point on, the possibilities are endlessly amazing. It’s easy, really. Search your favorite artists and Pandora will “create” a playlist of songs that fall under the artist’s similarities. If you haven’t thought about it yet, the best thing about Pandora is that itiPhone App Review-Pandora Radio saves you money while giving you all of the music you enjoy, which is very much so unlike the radio you might listen to in the car.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Pandora’s interface was just like iTunes as it appears on the iPhone and iTouch, which means that navigation is a piece of cake. There is no “figuring out” Pandora Radio. It’s as simple as the walk through the park you’ll take while listening.

But it gets better. Does it always? You can email your custom stations to other friends. Ah, the beauty of the internet. You might even fall so in love that you want to own the song foiPhone App Review-Pandora Radio rever. If that’s the case, you can buy it from iTunes. If you’re still on the fence you can just bookmark the artist or the song for future reference. Has Pandora thought of everything? Yes. I think so.

If nothing else, Pandora an ongoing playlist like the iTunes Genius. You can only skip an allotted number of songs per hour, but you can always switch stations, and I can almost guarantee that you’ll never want to skip a beat with Pandora. If you don’t believe me, I guess you’ll just have to give it a try for yourself.
