Review – “A great app for homebuyers and homeowners looking to refinance!”
Whether you’re looking to buy a new house, or you’re looking at refinancing a property, wouldn’t it be great to be able to figure out what a loan would look like anywhere on your phone? Well now you can 
with a $0.99 app called “Mortgage Calculator – The Amortizer” for the iOS!
The app itself is pretty simple. To calculate the costs of a loan just touch the “+” button in the upper right corner of the screen and fill out the information that you see on the screen. 
You’ll need to enter the purchase amount, down payment, interest rate, loan term, etc., and then touch the “Calculate” button in the upper right corner of the screen to figure out the costs associated with the proposed loan.
In addition to calculating the actual mortgage cost, you can also add in your escrow as well to get a more accurate number. To do that just touch the “Add Escrow Cost” button at the bottom of the loan information screen. You can then enter in each cost that is a part of your escrow individually, or you can add the total amount of your current escrow if you choose.
The loan breakdown that you get once you’ve calculated it offers a variety of interesting information. It 
calculates the total interest that you’ll pay on the loan, the total amount that you will pay on the loan if it goes as scheduled, and a breakdown of how much you will pay each month towards
the interest and principal of the loan!
Another great feature of the app is the ability to generate PDF’s of the loan information and email them to anyone! To do this just touch the “Email PDF” button in the upper right corner of the screen. You’ll get the choice of whether or not to include the amortization schedule or not, and then you’ll be taken directly to a form email with the PDF attached to it.
My personal experience with this app is that it made it very easy to get quick figures on what a loan will cost you. Unfortunately what it does not have is a way to calculate what it will cost you to refinance a loan. With that said, the app is only $0.99, and the PDF email feature is a great way to share loan figures with people while on the go. I found that one of the most irritating things in college was trying to keep up with some of my professors taking notes. There’s just so much information in some classes that sometimes it’s hard to decide what you need to write down. If you have one of those classes you may want to check out Audio Class Notes Free on your iPhone or iPod Touch!
When you open up the app the first thing you’ll see is a menu with three options. You can “Record a new file,” “Play A Recorded File,” or view and edit preferences in the “Options” menu. Inside the options menu you’ll see buttons to select the recording quality, 
remove all data from the app, and to add/remove “Classes” which is how all of your recordings are organized!
Once you’re ready to start recording you’ll need to make sure you’ve set up the class that you’re recording notes for, and then touch the “Record a new file” button. To start recording just touch the “Record” button in the upper left corner. At any time you can pause recording, or when you’re finished just touch the stop button stop and save it. You’ll be asked for a name for the recording, and if you don’t give it one then it will be named “Recording #?”.
Once you’ve recorded your class notes to review them later just touch the “Play A Recorded File” button. You’ll be given a list of all the files that you currently have. You can remove items from the list by swiping and touching the “Delete” button that 
comes up, or by touching the “Delete Mode” button in the lower right corner and using the “-” buttons to the left of the recordings.
To play a recording just touch it and you’ll open the the playback screen. From here you can not only listen to your recordings, but you can also tag certain parts so that you can quickly find them later. This is extremely easy to do, my only comment would be that there really needs to be a way to delete “tags” just in case you add 
one in a place where you didn’t want it, or you named it wrong.
All things aside this is a very useful app, and I was very impressed with how well this app was able to pick up people’s voices, even at a distance. Best of all though it’s totally free! The only thing you’ll have to deal with are the ads that you see at the top of the screen. They are not obtrusive though, and if you choose to view them they are Apple’s new “iAds” so you don’t have to leave the app to check them out!
If you’ve been looking for a voice recording app similar to this one, there is no reason that you shouldn’t at least give this a try. While there may be apps out there with a few extra “bells and whistles,” it is very doubtful that you’ll be able to find a better, easier to use app than this one for free. We spend so much time reviewing games and novelty apps and the big-boy utilities that sometimes it seems silly to take a quick look at super simple and free applications.
Which is ironic, really, considering that some of the most simple applications on the iTunes store are the apps that I use most often. So today, we’re taking a look at a simple pitch pipe guitar tuner application. It’s stupid simple and has no bells or whistles. But it does the job, and it’s free.
As far as app designs go, give this one a failing grade. For simple function, though, it’s an A+.

AppZapp has been around for quite a while and has brought us apps like “Do Not Press The Red Button”, and many more. They have somewhere around 20 apps in their catalog for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, and they have released a new app to try and sort through it all: Discover the App Store.
AppZapp has released a new app to easily guide you through the AppStore. “Discover the App Store“ is an easy walk through all the apps has to offer, with a simple easy interface. AppZapp also has a “PriceAlarm“ function, that will always inform you of sales or promotions of certain apps you love. You just set up a free account, and select the Apps you want to monitor.
“Discover the App Store” is a great tool to help you find what your looking for in the App Store. It features the same great descriptions and details you’ve come to know from the App Store. It supports App Stores in the US, UK, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

This is a great app for monitoring the App Store. Something the is missing from the actual App Store. Being able to keep an eye on certain apps that you may find a little pricey, and know when there are going on sale, is a terrific feature, that will probably never be included by Apple. The “Changes and Updates at a glance” feature is great, if you’re interested in knowing what has recently been updated, or want to ignore updates and focus on new releases only. Seeing as this app is free, there is no reason we cannot recommend this app.

Macs come equipped with a dictionary and thesaurus application directly on the dashboard, making it easy to find definitions, synonyms or antonyms as you read or write using your computer. However, Apple seems to have forgotten to include such a convenience when designing their more portable devices. Sure, we can monitor the stock market, or find our position using the compass, but we continue to lack the ability to quickly define words using an iPhone or iPod Touch.
Luckily, Terminology by Agile Tortoise provides users with an alternative to that reference tool they’ve always wanted. Terminology, originally designed for the iPad, now comes to the iPhone and iPod Touch with the same clean, easy-to-use interface that makes browsing the English language a piece of cake. (Yes, you can even define “piece of cake” by simply searching the entire phrase.) Featuring both a dictionary and thesaurus, Terminology encompasses all the necessary tools for exploring words and phrases offline and via the Internet.
When you start up Terminology, you will find the main buttons in the bottom navigation bar. The first button, all the way to the left, looks like a magnifying glass, which brings you to the search page and allows you to type in any word or phrase you wish. Whether you desire a definition, a synonym, or the meaning of a phrase you just can’t make sense of, you are bound to find it within Terminology’s extensive collection of terms. Those words you like or use frequently can then be starred and found using the star button to the right of the search tab.
Next to the star button, users will find an icon that resembles a clock. This tab tracks your previously searched terms in a chronological list of most recently searched to the earliest. All the way to the right of the navigation bar, users will find two more icons. The icon resembling a gear allows you to filter bad words from your search, while the question mark icon tells you a bit about Terminology itself.
Each word or phrase entry appears clear and readable, presenting users with the terms part of speech, definition, synonyms and less specific terms that may be associated with the term in question. Users may also link directly to online sites such as Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Wolfram Alpha and Google to learn more. And, with all data based on the Princeton University WordNet project, users can be sure they are receiving top-notch information they would otherwise have to inconveniently use the Safari browser to look up when desperate.

Based on the Princeton University WordNet project, Terminology is an all-in-one dictionary and thesaurus application for the iPad. The application isn’t universal, meaning if you bought the iPhone version you won’t be able to use the native iPad edition.
Using Terminology is simple, so much so that you don’t even need to finish typing a word. For example, when typing “derivative” all I had to do was type “deri” and it brought up a short enough list that allowed me to select the word that I was looking for. However, in contrast, the application fails to pick up on typing mistakes, offering no “Did you mean?” feature. For frequent mis-spellers this could pose a problem that the likes of Dictionary.com automatically recognize.
The application’s design suits the iPad, providing a thin vertical column for all settings, similar to Reeder for iPad. Such settings include show/hide the search bar, star items and view recent history. A settings button reveals the ability to filter profane words. The light theme has been smartly designed to appear both professional and welcoming, without fear of experiencing any blandness.
The main area of the screen is taken up by the word definitions themselves. If a word has multiple definitions, each are provided, along with synonyms and antonyms of the word itself. There’s also a handy thesaurus filtration feature, telling you what words are more and less relevant to the word in question. Terminology provides a rolling history, meaning there’s no dead space on screen.
Lastly, there are options to view the word that you’ve entered in Wikipedia, Wictionary, Google and Wolfram|Alpha. All of this is done through a built-in browser, particularly handy for iPad users given the fact that multitasking isn’t due until November. The browser itself is cleanly designed.
Overall, Terminology is a succinct application, providing an easy way to view a complex dictionary. But for those who don’t need features like rolling history and more/less relevant words, Dictionary.com will probably do. But for those who are interested in more features, $1.99 isn’t breaking the bank.

Are you in school studying for your MBA and still searching for that perfect study aid to help you with completely your degree? If that fits your description then you may find Pocket MBA Full Course (Part 1) an app would reading about.
This app is developed by Intersog and is similar to taking a course at your own pace. It is really nice, clean, in depth, and does a great job of offering something for different learning styles.
First of all you’ll notice when you launch the app that it has a great interface to it. It defaults to the main menu, which lists out the different courses that you can choose from, with a brief summary of each one. From here you will pick the subject you are interested in studying and proceed to Launch that course.
Once you choose and go into a course you’ll see it’s even broken down into chapters. After that it goes into pre-course expectations, which I think is great, so you will know what to expect to learn from each chapter. In addition, if you look along the bottom you’ll see that they offer the chapter in modes to read the text, study through flash cards, and even to take an exam.
A few things worth noting about this app ..
1. You can bookmark your progress or just any sections you would like to refer back to.
2. You can search for topics throughout the app through a handy search button.
3. There’s a handy glossary (specific to the application) so you can look up new words quickly and easily as you encounter them).
4. The app is quick, smooth, really clean, and just overall very nicely laid out. You can tell the developer put a lot of time into fine tuning this application.
My thoughts? If you’re studying for your MBA and need a great tool to give you that motivation and push to do well then this app is definitely worth looking at. Yes, it’s pricey but so is your education, right? Those Master’s classes aren’t cheap, trust me I know!
If doing well and not repeating courses is important to you then this app may be worth the investment. It’s very nice, seems very in depth, and may be what you need to give your education that extra boost, so check it out in the App Store today!

Looking for a quick and easy VAT or sales tax calculator? If so then you may be interested in VAT Pro. It is a simple and easy to use calculator that not only works for US states but also includes a decent listing of international sales tax details.
When you open the app up, it defaults to a country’s tax information but it is very easy to change that. By hitting the Countries button it will not only take you to a listing of different countries that are already built into the app but it will also show you a listing of different states within the US. In addition you can also make custom rates as well in the event that the country you are wanting to reference is not yet listed.
After choosing the country, or state, that you want to use, the app reverts back to the default calculator screen. At this point the process is simple. In the first spot you will type in the cost of what you’re looking at and based on the stored values it will return to you both what the sales tax will be and also the total price of what you’re interested in. Easy enough!
Here are a few things you’ll find in this app:
- VAT rates for European countries
- Tax rates for all US States
- Tax rates for over 50 more countries
In a nutshell this app is simple and easy to use. If you are looking for a VAT or sales tax app that is handy and ready to go then you may find this app worth looking at, especially if you could one day take advantage of the international rates as well. A lot of medical professionals carry pocket guides that contain
various information that they might need in the field. For years Informed has been 
a large provider of these small pocket-sized guides, and now they are bringing these great resources directly to your mobile device!
Previously all of these medical resources were released in a simple PDF format much like a lot of digital book formats like you see today. While it was not a bad format, Informed is now releasing all of their apps in a way that allows you to interact with and search for the material that you’re looking for!
When you open up this app the first screen you’ll see is the Topics screen. This is a great way to quickly find information. Touching any available topic will bring up all of the related information. For example, touching the “Medical Emergencies” topic will bring up a list of items to choose from that include Abdominal pain, Abuse, Childbirth, Choking, and many more.
Once you find what you want and open up you’ll find that the information in this app is not just boring data, it is laid out with all kinds of caps, punctuation, bullets and even pictures in some cases. You’ll even find links to things within the app when applicable. For example,
in some of the articles you’ll find links to the poison control center. Touching these links will place a phone call to their headquarters for you.
You’ll also find a variety of different calculators in this app. It includes everything from a simple conversion calculator that handles temperature, 
weight, volume and length, down to a variety of different Pediatric calculators. The interfaces for the calculator’s were very easy to understand and use, and they also work very quickly!
The third button in the menu at the bottom of the screen is the “Search/Bookmarks” button. Touching this brings up a list of all your current bookmarks to choose from. Touching any
of them will take you directly to the page that you were on when you created them.
In the upper left corner of the “Search/Bookmarks” screen you’ll see a little magnifying glass. Touching this button will open up a search bar where you can search for anything. This is a great feature that will allow you to quickly find the exact information you are looking for. The searches work in real time as well so there is no waiting to load search results.
If you find yourself carrying a paper version of this or a similar emergency reference then you’ll definitely want to check out this app. If you’re just not that present that usually carries around a reference maybe this would be a good time to start!
