Review – “Fast Paced, Color-Tap, Martian Invader Game”

App developer: Blue Fusion Technologies
Website: http://www.bluefusiongames.com/

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a new game App that does something different, has a different game play, or simply is a new idea to the App Marketplace. I was surprised by, and totally impressed by this App.

martianswarm 1 200x300 Martian Swarm iPhone App ReviewThere’s a fantastic tutorial when you begin, explaining the game play, which is that you need to press the right colors, and launch your colors in order to defeat the Martian Invaders before they reach you. Obvious homage to Space Invaders with a tricky and fun twist. The tutorial was detailed and explained everything from how to defend against single-color ships, and multicolor ships. You have special weapons that you can use to either freeze the attackers, or by demolishing an entire section (although these special weapons will not work with each other, which is fair.)

martianswarm 4 200x300 Martian Swarm iPhone App ReviewOther than the fantastic graphics (which I’ve stated before, and will state again, are a rarity sometimes in 99 cent apps), the game play is smooth and easy to do. On the point of the graphics, and design, it’s an obvious throwback to retro 70’s style games and I think it suits this particular game, and this genre in general great.

Something else that impressed me about this App is that it contains 40 levels. Forty. This app was only launched a few days ago and already in contains more levels than most Apps in this price range which have had months, if not years of additions and updates.

martianswarm 3 200x300 Martian Swarm iPhone App ReviewThe levels get progressively more difficult, but that’s a given. The game is intuitive in the same way the guitar-hero, tap-tap revolution is, which is a welcome change from regular shooter games. This game is definitely geared at people who wouldn’t regularly pick up a ‘Space’ style game, and I think that anyone who enjoys combo or color-tap related games would enjoy this just as much.

Additionally the App features OpenFeint, a welcome addition to any game on the iPad. Although I’ve been using games with OpenFeint for a while, I’ve never bothered to actually sign-up or keep track of my high-scores through it, this game might change that as it is so much fun I find I’m wanting to play it more and more, I should keep track of my progress.

Please do check this one out – it’s only a dollar and I think that if it even sounds like it will appeal to you, you won’t be disappointed.

Star Cargo 3000

Star Cargo 3000 is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

A long spacecraft, reminiscent of 2001’s Discovery One, is in parking orbit above an unstable planet. Mining equipment is being evacuated in large cargo containers which attach directly to the exoskeleton of the giant cargo vessel. But at the same time the containers are propelled upward to the ship, there are violent seismic events on the planet’s surface throwing up dangerous debris endangering the vessel. There may even be weapons fired at the spacecraft from somewhere on the planet. The player must use the touch-screen to zap incoming projectiles until all 10 containers are loaded.

Features:

- Dynamic touch-screen interface intercepts quickly moving projectiles
- Sound affects accompany shots, hits and collisions
- 3 planets, 45 levels, 12 lethal projectiles
- Openfeint connectivity including Leaderboard and Achievements
- Complete scoring with targets, hits, misses and percentages
- Smooth, responsive graphics which react immediately to touch screen

REVIEW – “This spacey version of Risk is sure to keep you thinking!”

G1 200x300 Galcon iPhone App ReviewI may be a little late to this rodeo but Galcon is a very interesting game and one that is rather unique to most games I have played. The point is to out conquer your opponent, in space.

Game play is rather simple. You start off with one planet which produces ships, you can then conquer nearby planets. Once you have conquered a planet, that planet will produce more ships with which to conquer more planets.

Each planet has a number which lets you know how many ships it will take to conquer that planet. If a planet is gray that means the planet is neutral. If it is green then you control that planet, and any other color means that it is controlled by one of your opponents. G2 200x300 Galcon iPhone App Review

This is where strategy comes to play because the same rules apply for your opponent so you must try and out produce and out conquer your opponent. The game ends when either you or your opponent have been completely eliminated.

There are a number of difficulty levels so there is a wide enough range that both kids and adults can play.

There are also different level types, including a level where you must conquer every planet on the board within a certain amount of time, a level where you have no idea where or how many ships your opponent has and a level where you can play against two opponents instead of just one.

G3 200x300 Galcon iPhone App ReviewThere is even online multi-player which allows you to play against other fans of the game and build up your rank. In order to do so all you have to do is create an account at Galcon.com.

The game is really simple to play and while the difficulty levels can seem too easy at times, the different level types and multi-player do make up for that some problem. The background music was also slightly repetitive at times but that can be said for most games of this variety.

In the end it is a fun game and one that can be great for when you have a few minutes, though for how much you get with the game it might be slightly overpriced.
