MOG Mobile Music App May Be Spotify For The Rest Of Us

MOG Mobile Music App May Be Spotify For The Rest Of Us is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Those wishing that the currently Europe-only Spotify music streaming service and iPhone app would hit to the rest of the world now have another option – MOG Mobile Music.

The MOG network has been around for a while but its new iPhone app makes it a serious contender in the audio subscription market offering similar, if not better, features by comparison to its rivals.

Highlights of the service include a library of eight million songs and some 700,000 albums that can be streamed to your iPhone over 3G and Wi-Fi and bundled into playlists. An unlimited number of songs can also be downloaded to the iPhone and stored for periods when you’re outside of Wi-Fi or cell areas.

The above features are all par for the course when it comes to this type of app and service but there are a few gems to be found in MOG Mobile Music too. The first is the true on-demand nature of the listening. Songs can be played at any time and repeated unlike many similar services that prevent repeat play, and you can listen to user playlists and customizable artist radio stations on the go. Artist radio isn’t as strict as the others either, with a simple slider determining how much of the artist you hear and how many similar artists are played.

It’s flexibility that seems to be the key difference between MOG and its rivals and, for a $9.99 per month fee, looks set to take a lead in the cloud-based music subscription game.

If you fancy trying out MOG Mobile Music, a three-day free trial is currently available when you download the app. No credit card is required either so you can sample the service risk free during this period.

Hulu Streaming TV Finally Arrives On iOS Devices, Introduces Hulu Plus Subscription Service

Hulu Streaming TV Finally Arrives On iOS Devices, Introduces Hulu Plus Subscription Service is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

The Hulu Blog today confirmed what many have been murmuring about online for some time. Hulu is bringing its streaming TV service to the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. The aforementioned murmurs also questioned how this delivery of most of America’s top TV shows would be paid for, they too were given an answer with the introduction of the Hulu Plus subscription.

Formerly only available via a PC or Mac, the Hulu Plus app and subscription service will combine to deliver episodes from current and classic TV shows on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 as well as the iPad and third gen iPod touch.

At present the service is working on an invite-only basis (apply for one here) and will cost users $9.99 per month but, for this fee you do get a good deal of benefits. Full seasons of TV shows will be available including big hitters such as Family Guy, 30 Rock and The Office with up to 720p HD resolution available. Through the Hulu Plus app, users will be able to browse, search and resume playback at the same point on different devices. For iPhone and iPad users, you will even be able to stream over 3G!

While we’ve not had the chance to fully test Hulu Plus yet, this sounds like the service Apple’s portable devices have been crying out for and one that will likely bring about a few discussions inside Apple HQ. With the recent acquisition of media streaming startup Lala, it is rumored the company is gearing up to introduce a cloud-based iTunes service that could include streaming TV shows to iPhones and iPads.

The Hulu Plus app is available for free on the App Store and includes a bunch of freebies that don’t need a subscription in order to try out. The movie Super Size Me is included as well as clips and episodes from a number of TV shows as well, so it’s worth sampling the app for these bonuses alone.

Check it out on the App Store here

ESPN 2010 FIFA World Cup App Scores

ESPN 2010 FIFA World Cup App Scores is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Price: FREE    Score: 10/10    By M. SchustermanESPN

If the info and quality you get from this free version of the ESPN 2010 FIFA World Cup app is this high, the upgrade must be fantastic.

Rabid World Cup followers will get plenty of use out of this app. From the main menu, you can search through the up-to-date scores and schedules, the latest news about recent events, and video of game highlights courtesy of ESPN.

You can also easily search for specific info by teams, which are organized by map, list and groups, then add them to your favorites so the latest info about your team is available right on the main menu. Or you can check out the venues to see what games are playing at certain stadiums. There’s even a bracket predictor, where you can earn points by predicting the outcome of games with other ESPN account holders.

The in-app purchase of $7.99 gives you even more, including (for those in the U.S.) live ESPN radio streams of the matches, highlights within minutes of when they happen, video recaps and analysis, and breaking news and game alerts, including customizable alerts.

As far as design goes, this app is really well done, particularly considering it’s both free and only useful for a short window of time. A quick scroll down the main menu will take you to any info you want to find, and the video and audio are both great quality. When you try to choose an option (like alerts) that is only offered with the upgrade, a window opens asking if you’d like to purchase it; other than that, I didn’t experience any ads or annoying pop-ups, so if you just want the free version there’s no advertising harassment to deal with.

This app is definitely a handy one for iPhone users who want to stay connected to the action at all times.

Fox Mobile Releases Hulu-like App, Won’t Be Totally Free

Fox Mobile Releases Hulu-like App, Won’t Be Totally Free is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Having Hulu on the iPhone would be a dream and a half, but without Flash support, the service is a no go. Instead, Fox Mobile is releasing an app called BitBop, which quietly came out as a beta yesterday. It’s only compatible on four Blackberry phones at this point, but will eventually be available for the iPhone and Android operating systems.

Like Hulu, BitBob is coming loaded with content from 25 content partners including NBC, CBS, The Food Network, A&E, and MTV, and will include all of their most popular shows and series. In an earlier interview with mocoNews, Joe Bilman, Fox Mobile’s EVP of Global Products said that the application would be free but access to the entire catalogue would probably cost $10 a month. I think it’s safe to say that the many content partners are quite a bit more excited about BitBop’s monthly access plan than Hulu’s ad based model.

Aside from a few snafus, such as the horrible BitBop name and the monthly subscription pan, the service seems like it will be a big in the mobile market. As much as I love iTunes, the ability to stream content directly to my phone seems a bit more exciting. Hopefully BitBop will follow Hulu in the movie department too, because there’s nothing like having a movie on the go.

Version – 1.1

Review – “File Sharing on your iDevice!”

LoKast 1 208x300 LoKast iPhone App ReviewI’ve seen a variety of different filesharing services in the past, but this is the first legal one that I can remember seeing on a mobile device. LoKast is an app that is designed to allow you to stream music, view photos, and even video from people around you! The various files are streamed directly over the internet from their devices to yours!

When you open up LoKast for the first time you’ll be asked for your email address. This is a common thing with most filesharing services. You can choose to give them your email addressLoKast 2 208x300 LoKast iPhone App Review or not, it’s completely up to you. It’s not that big of a deal though. They haven’t used the email I used to send any kind of spam or anything. It’s only used to identify you as a user, at least to my knowledge.

Once you enter your email you’ll be taken to a screen that is full of a variety of different tutorials to help you learn and optimize the settings for this app. If you’re familiar with sharing services, there’s nothing all that LoKast 3 208x300 LoKast iPhone App Reviewcomplicated. In fact the interface of this app is very simple compared to most desktop sharing software.

Now you’re ready to start sharing! You’ll notice that there are 5 little icons on the main screen. These different icons allow you to access pages for sharing music, pictures, video, contacts and website addresses. To share something all you have to do is open up the tab for it and touch the “+” button below. You’ll be given a variety of options for sharing the particular item that you chose. For example, with pictures you’ll be given the option to share from your photo library or take a new photo.

Sharing things is extremely easy. All you have to do is touch a person that you want to share from. Once you select a person from the list at the top you can then browse their available files using the same icons that you share files with. Opening one up is LoKast 4 208x300 LoKast iPhone App Reviewas easy as touching it.

The streaming music is excellent in quality over 3G, unfortunately there is no optimized stream for an Edge connection so you really can’t play music over Edge. With that said, even the LoKast 5 208x300 LoKast iPhone App Reviewvideo loaded quickly and was smooth over 3G! With all things considered I think I would much rather have smooth performance all around than support for Edge. If all you have where you live is Edge though, it could get old having to always look for a WiFi connection to use anything!

This app adds even more social depth to itself by integrating with Facebook and Twitter, and including seamless chat features! All of that said, an app like this is only going to be as strong as the base of users that it attracts, but I can definitely see the potential here. Even if you just like music you should download this app to check out the 50 free songs that are always available because they have been sponsored for this app! Whether you’re just curious, or want to check out some music for free, this app is a great download. So check it out in the App Store today!

App from Lynda.com for On The Go Video Learning is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Lynda.com has been around for a long while now. Their video training series have been helpful to me in the past when I’ve needed to quickly learn a whole new platform, a new app, or just want to find out the right way to do something, not the way I do it.

Well now, Lynda.com have released a new iPhone app that gives you access to all of their video training from the app itself. You can now pick up where you left off on your training if you are on Wifi, 3G, or even Edge. The app features multiple streaming qualities that adapts to your connection speed.

Full access to all 700+ video courses requires a subscription starting at $25/month. If you haven’t ever tried any of the video learning featured from Lynda.com, the app lets you sample thousands of their training videos for free so you can get a taste of their gentle but informed teaching style. Here’s a quick video introduction to the app.

Headset – iPhone App Review

Headset ($0.99)

Version – 1.0

REVIEW – “Turn your iPhone into a wireless headset!”

Headset 1 - iPhone App ReviewOf all the apps I’ve reviewed recently, this one has to be one of the coolest concepts I’ve seen!  Headset, by SHAPE Services, is an app that will allow you to use your iPhone as a wireless headset or headphones.  All you need for it to work is a simple free desktop client and this app!  This is particularly useful for things like VOIP calling, but it has a lot of other uses as well.

When you open up Headset the first thing you see is the main menu.  The center of the screen is an image of headphones with a meter on each side of it to show how much signal the app is receiving from your computer.  Setting up a new computer is very easy.  All you have to do is touch the settings button on the right side above the headset and you’ll see a list all of the computers that are running the free server software and are on the same WiFi network.  All you have to do to connect to one of them is just touch it.

One thing to note is that the way this app works is by installing another audio driver onto your computer.  What this means is that you will need to set theHeadset 2 - iPhone App Reviewnew driver as the default device, either for the program you are using, or just for your computer.  The easiest way to do this is to use the “Sound” program in the control panel, but it can also be done by opening the “audio mixer” and setting it there, or by setting it from within the individual applications that you want to use it with.

Once I got everything set up the first thing I was anxious to test is how it worked for listening to audio from my computer.  Something I do quite a lot of is listen to political commentary and/or watch television shows on the internet.  Being able to listen wirelessly allows me to move around and get other things done while not missing a thing!

So I’m sure you’re anxious to hear about my experiences with this app.  What I found is that this app does an excellent job of listening to music and also making phone calls.  For watching video; however, the lag that this app adds to the audio is enough to make videos seem out of sync and/or choppy.  Overall I Headset 3 - iPhone App Reviewwas very impressed with the performance of this app though.  If your videos get too far out of sync the quickest fix is to just pause the video and then start it up again.

Another thing that could make this app extremely useful for business people is that it has the ability to record audio.  This potentially means that if you use this app to make VOIP calls you could record them with this app.  Recording is extremely simple, all you have to do is touch the red record button in the bottom left of the screen.  If you want to record just the audio coming in and not the microphone you can touch the mic mute button on the right side as well.  All recordings are saved directly to your computer making it simple to archive/access them quickly.

To sum all this up, whether you are just looking for a cheap wireless headset or a powerful business tool for making calls from your computer Headset by SHAPE Services is a good place to start!  And the best part is that all of these great features are available for just $0.99  in the App Store.  So what are you waiting for?  Check it out today!
