PicoGP Makes Racing Cute

PicoGP Makes Racing Cute is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Price: $0.99    Score: 8/10    By Steve BeaudryPicoGP - F1 Flick Racing

PicoGP – F1 Flick Racing by Chip and Dare is a nifty little game. It’s a birds-eye view of a racing map and instead of driving around it by D-Pad or accelerometer, you flick the car in the direction you want it to go. Depending on your “gear,” indicated by the numbers on the left hand side of the screen, you can go a short distance or a long distance with one flick. The real catch to PicoGP is that this racing game is not really real-time, but rather it’s turn-based.

Now, normally I’m not a big fan of turn-based games, but in this case I think they have it right. The gear can only be shifted one spot per turn. This means the more turns you take, the farther you you can go. Unless, for some reason, you decide to shift down. If you crash, you go all the way back down to Neutral and have to start all over again.

It’s a very interesting and a new way of racing on the iPhone and I kind of dig it. It’s not as fast paced as normal racing, but it’s quaint in its own right, and, as you can see from the screenshots, the graphics are pretty cute.

There are different modes, championships, quickrace, multiplayer, but they’re all basically the same game with different objectives. It’s so simple that there’s really not much more to write about it. If you have to know more, check it out on iTunes. At 99 cents it’s one of the cheapest games in the App Store.

PicoGP requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later and is compatible with both iPhone and iPod Touch.
