Review – “Find the inner valet within with Park Rush HD for iPad!”
One of my wife’s favorite types of games has always 
been the “Diner-Dash” style games. Just the fast pace of trying to manage several different things at once is addicting to say the least. If this is the kind of action you enjoy then you might want to check out Park Rush. The basic idea is that you’re a valet that parks cars and you have to try and make as much money as possible.
First off I’d like to say that this type of the game is perfectly suited to the large touch screen of the iPad. While I’ve seen a few games of this genre done on the iPhone/iPod Touch, there is really no comparison between those games and one done on the iPad!
My first impressions of Park Rush were that the graphics and sound are all very polished. In fact I felt they were even more polished that you typically see with a lot of the flash-based games of this type. The music adds to the game, but doesn’t get annoying quickly. The sound effects also add to the experience as well.
The main menu of the app is very simple. It has four buttons that allow you to start a new game, resume your old game, check high scores, or quit the app. The high-scores area of this app is powered by the OpenFeint network, and so the first time you open the app you’ll be asked to sign into your account or to create a new account if you don’t already have one.
When you decide to start a new game you’ll be given the option to select from two different characters: 
Lillian and Johnny. Once you select your character you’ll be taken to the main gameplay screen. On this screen you’ll see several parking spaces at the top, a sidewalk where your customers line up at on the right side, and a sidewalk where they come to pick up their cars later.
To do your job you have to touch a customer to have them give you the keys to their vehicle. You then can get in that vehicle and park it in an empty parking place. As you park more cars though you need to be ready because your patrons can come back and want their cars at any time!
In order to win and move on to the next level you have to reach your goal amount of money for the day. Your progress and goal are shown in the little box in the upper left corner of the screen. You’ll also find how much time you have to complete that task, and how much time you’ve currently used in the same box.
If at any time you need to pause your game, or you want to save it for play later all you have to do is touch the little tab on the left side of the screen. A small 
menu slides out and your game is paused. While it is definitely nice to be able to quickly save and exit from this tab that does not, in my opinion, make up for this apps lack of an “auto-save” feature if you exit the app using another means such as the home button.
One other thing that I did notice with this app is that I had it crash on me once or twice. From what I could tell though this is remedied by restarting your iPad so I think the crashes were most likely memory related. A crash like this is even more irritating though when the game does not include any kind of auto-save feature built in.
All in all this game is definitely easy to learn to play, and a lot of fun as well! I would definitely recommend that you give your iPad a quick reboot after installing though if you want to avoid the crashes that I mentioned before. I’m sure these bugs will be worked out though as this app is stilly very new! If you enjoy fast-paced games like these and you’re looking for something a little different then Park Rush is just what you’ve been looking for. So what are you waiting for? Review – “Annihilation meets strategy in BoxBattle for iOS!”
Strategy is an interesting genre in the gaming world. Just when you think everything’s been tried to come across yet another unique idea, and BoxBattle is no exception! The basic idea behind BoxBattle is that you have to destroy all of the green boxes and avoid the red ones by shooting at them with a cannon. This may sound a little mundane, but there’s a lot more strategy to it than you might think!
When I started playing this game I just jumped right in. In hindsight, it would have been a much better idea to read the instructions first. The game itself is pretty simple, but there are a few nuances that you might miss if you choose not to read them. You can read them by touching the “Help” button from the main menu.
Once you’re ready to jump in just touch the “play” button and then start a “new game.” The main game screen has your cannon on either the left or right side of 
the screen with a bunch of blocks that are placed on platforms in the middle. In the lower right corner of the screen is a button that brings up a menu with a variety of different cannon balls to choose from.
In order to complete a level you have to score over 100 points. You will gain points for each green block you take out, 
but you will lose points for taking out red blocks. You also lose points with every shot you take. Choosing more powerful cannon balls will make you lose more points, but will possibly help you to finish in fewer shots!
The first few levels were pretty easy, but the difficulty advanced very quickly! I was able to finish all of the levels that are available for free in about 30 minutes of play. If you want to continue on, there are over 130 levels available through in-app purchases, and the level packs are just $0.99 each!
The first time you open up BoxBattle you’ll be asked to login to your OpenFeint account. This adds even 
more replay value to the game by adding things like achievements and the ability to compare your performance with your
friends, and other people around the world!
You’ll find another nice feature of this app in the “options” menu. You can control the sound effects and music volume individually. You can also choose to turn the vibrate feature on or off as well.
All things considered, this game a great concept that is somewhat unique, and very addicting. If you are a fan of the puzzle genre, and you like to blow things up, this app will be a great combination for you. So what are you waiting for? If you’re looking for a game that you can just pick up and play for a few minutes at a time then iBasket may be right up your alley! iBasket is a game that allows to see how many baskets you can make within a limited period of time. It comes in two different versions: a free ad-supported version, and an ad-free one for just $0.99!
When you open up iBasket the first thing you see is a menu with several basic options. There is a “Settings” screen
where you can turn the sounds and vibration on or off. You can also change your name here. Whatever you set your name to is what will be posted to the high score lists.
Gameplay is simple. Just touch the Play button and you’ll be taken to a screen with a basket on the left and a basketball randomly placed on the screen. When you take your first shot the timer will start ticking. All you have to do to shoot is touch the screen where you want to the shoot to head towards.
While the concept of this game sounds very simple, I can assure you that it is much more difficult to master than it may sound! It definitely takes a while to
get used to and long distance shots are extremely hard to judge at first. I found that the easiest way to make shots was to aim for the center of the backboard!
The ads in the free version are not all that intrusive. They stain mainly at the bottom of the screen and are not in the 
way of basic gameplay. Something I noticed that is really nice is that this app already has support for the fast app switching feature in iOS 4. This makes it extremely easy to cut out somewhere in the middle of a game and then jump right back into it!
Overall this game is really a lot of fun, and the free version is one of the best free apps I’ve seen in quite a while! Whether you enjoy basketball or not I think you’ll find this app and its arcade style engaging. So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and grab your free copy of iBasket in the App Store today!

Quibli is a game that is difficult to describe in just a few words as it combines several concepts into one game. You have the basic principle of “Lemmings” where “Quibli” is just heading towards imminent doom, you have the side scroller aspect where Quibli 
is bouncing from left to right, while at the same time your only controls are to place blocks from Quibli to bounce on! The game that results fits the iOS platform perfectly and will bring hours of entertainment for all ages!
When you open up Quibli you’ll see a brief splash screen followed by a simple menu with two gameplay options on the left, and three other options on the right. The options on the right include a high score list, a link to “challenge” your friends via email and the game settings. Once you’re ready to play just select one of the two pictures on the left side of the screen to start playing!
Gameplay is simple, and both game modes play basically the same, you just see different images based on which one you choose. Gameplay starts when you see 
Quibli fall from above and then start jumping to the right. As you move to the right you’ll see all kinds of platforms, spikes and enemies that are placed randomly on the screen. The object of the game is to stay alive as long as possible, which is reflected in your score in the upper right corner of the screen!
In the upper left corner of the screen you’ll see a block inside a box. Touching the screen anywhere will place that block where you touched. Using these blocks you must not only keep Quibli moving, but you also have to help him avoid whatever trouble comes his way!
Gameplay is fast and addicting, and it gets even better because of the global high score list embedded in the game! As you play you’ll see your high scores at the
bottom of the screen as you improve and pass up the old ones. If you’d like to see how you’re doing against the rest of the world just head back to the “Scores” option in the main menu to see a list of both your personal high scores and how they compare with the rest of the world!
The one thing that is sadly missing from this app is the social aspect. It would be nice if the developer had added support 
for one of the popular networks such as OpenFeint. With that said, it could very well be that the developer is waiting for Apple to announce more details about the “Game Center” feature that is supposed to be coming in the near future.
Overall, the gameplay in this game was solid, the graphics are fun, and the music and sound effects only add to the experience. Quibli is currently available for $0.99, and at that price is well worth the money! If you’re looking for a fast-paced game that does a good job taking advantage of the iOS’s touch interface then what are you waiting for? Head to the App Store and download Quibli today!

If you’ve ever watched Texas Hold’em on TV, then you’ve probably noticed the percentages that they show during play. These percentages show how likely it is that a player can still win the hand. Well what if there was an easy way to view these percentages on your
own? What if you could also learn to use this knowledge to play better poker? Well now you can with Royale Poker Odds for the iOS platform!
There are three main options when you open up this app to the main menu. The main part of the app is the “Odds Calculator.” When you touch it the first thing you’ll need to do is enter in your “hole cards.” Entering cards is a 2 touch process. There is a list of all the numbers/face cards at the bottom of the screen. Selecting one of them will bring up all of the remaining cards in the deck of that number to choose from.
Once you enter in your whole cards see the odds that you will win the hand against all of your opponents. This will vary based on how many players you are playing against though, 
and so you can set how many opponents you have by touching the arrows in the upper right corner of the screen.
When you’re ready to go on all you have to do is touch the “Board” button in the lower right corner and then enter in the first three cards in the middle of the table. You’ll be shown a list of all your possible “outs” at the bottom of the screen, as well as the odds that you will get them when the next card is dealt! When you finish a hand it’s easy to start a new one by touching the “New Hand” button in the lower left corner of the screen.
The next option from the main menu of this app is the “Bonus” button. This will take you to a screen that has a variety of different pages related to learning strategy. This page is full of great information for 
novice players, as well as experienced veterans! some of them include strategy on the most commonly played hole cards and learning how to play odds.
In addition to the ability to enter in cards by touching them, you can also add cards by touching the voice recognition button to the left of the other buttons. Once you touch it, it will 
stay toggled on and you can add cards by just saying their names. I was surprised and just how easy and fast it was to enter in cards via speech-recognition. It was so easy I found that I would rather use the speech-recognition than touch the cards to enter them in!
If you’ve been looking for a good way to learn to play better poker, you would be hard pressed to find a better tool than this app. The interface is simple, and it offers a variety of different types of information and strategies! While $4.99 may seem a bit expensive, sometimes you have to pay a little bit for real quality, and I believe that this app is definitely worth the money. If you love soccer you never want to miss when your team is playing in the World Cup. Well thanks to the PushMyFoot app for the iOS now you never have to! PushMyFoot allows you to track games live and also find information on what games are coming up!
Part of what makes this app
work is the simple interface. While some may be turned off by the simple artwork, this app loads quickly and is very easy to navigate through. When you open it up you’ll start out viewing a list of games sorted by “Groups.” You can also sort the games by Date or Venue by touching the buttons at the top of the screen.
Once you find the game you want to follow all you have to do is touch it. It will bring up a full overview of what’s going on in the game. The teams playing and the score are shown at the top of the screen, and a detailed list of what’s going on in the game is shown below. The live information shows all kinds of things from offside calls to substitutions, penalties shots and exciting plays!
At the bottom of the screen you’ll find a menu with three other buttons besides the “Games” one that you start out viewing. Touching the “Groups” button will show a list of all the groups
and what countries are in each group. All you have to do to find out how your country is doing is find it’s flag and touch that group to see the detailed standings of their group!
You’ll also find a list of all the players that are involved in the World Cup under the “Teams” button at the bottom of the screen. To view a list of 
players for any team all you have to do is find that team and touch it. The list of teams can be sorted alphabetically or by the previously mentioned “Groups.” this is toggled by touching the buttons at the top of the screen.
The final menu option is the “Venues” button. This simply brings up a list of all the stadiums that are being used for the 2010 World Cup. Touching any of them will bring up detailed information about that stadium. At the top of the screen you’ll see the city where the stadium is located and its capacity. Just below this you’ll find three buttons that allow you to view a detailed description of the stadium, a picture of it, and an overview of where the stadium is on a map!
My overall impressions of this app are that it is very functional, and offers a lot of good information in an easy to view format. If you’re a big soccer fan, but you find yourself away from the TV when a lot of the games are going on, you’ll love this app. Best of all it’s only $0.99! So what are you waiting for? Review – “Fast paced game for all ages!”
Whether you’re looking for a way to kill a little time, or you need a quick distraction for a child, Hot Chicks : With Friends is a game that is fun for all ages! The basic concept is that you control a “chick” as 
it tries to dodge all of the fire falling from the sky. While it may sound simplistic, it is definitely a lot of fun!
One of the things that was evident as I tested this game is the attention the developer gives to detail. From the background music, to the menu system and the graphics, everything about this app adds to the fun “cartoony” feel.
The main menu has several different options. There is a tutorial on how to play, and also on how to set up the “multiplayer” feature and play it as well. When you open up the app for the first time you’ll be asked to either link to your existing “OpenFeint” account or to start a new one. OpenFeint allows you to compare your scores to people around the world, as well as get achievements and network with other friends that have an iPod touch or iPhone!
The “Options” menu has a couple of different things. There is the ability to turn the music and sound effects on and off independently which is very nice! You also get to select a “chick” at this menu from three different options!
Once you’re ready to get started all you have to do is touch the “Play” button and select Single player. You’ll be taken straight to the gameplay screen. To control your “chick” you must tilt your device to the left and to the right.
As you move around there will be fire falling from the
sky and there will gradually be more of it. It will also speed up as you get further in as well. The game keeps two separate scores, “Time” and “Distance.” These two scores are combined to reach your “Total” score.
When you play “multiplayer” the game is similar except you are able to throw bombs at your opponent to try and make them “lose” first. As with a lot of multiplayer games the 
connection works pretty good. It takes just a few seconds to connect and brings a whole new dimension to this game!
This game, like a lot of free apps, is supported by advertising. With that said, if you would rather support the developer directly you can choose to remove the ads through a $0.99 in-app purchase! With that said, if the advertisements don’t bother you you can still have the satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting the developer by view all of the advertisements!
Fast-paced gameplay and simplicity will make this game a winner for many people. There are very few games that are interesting for adults to play, and at the same time are easy enough for any child to play as well. Hot Chicks has managed to do this and make it look easy! Whether you are working with top secret documents, or you just want to keep sales figures or private files safe, iDiscrete is an extremely useful app! The basic idea of iDiscrete is that most people will not even know what it is when they see it. You actually access the app by entering in a code using the hidden buttons on the “loading” screen.
When you open up iDiscrete for the first
time it tells you that you should read the tutorial information under the “settings” area of the app. While the information there is good, I didn’t really need most of it to figure the app out myself.
The first thing you’ll want to do when you open the app is set the security settings by touching the “Settings” button in the upper right corner and then touching “Protection Settings.” Once you enable protection you’ll need to set up your “Touch Sequence,” how long the app gives you to enter it and a “Reset Code.”
Once you have set up your security options when you open the app you’ll be greeted by a “Loading” screen. It’s at this screen that you enter in your “Touch Sequence” to open up the actual app. If you don’t enter the sequence in the time limit that you selected you’ll be taken to a screen titled “My Notes.” If for some reason you forget or cannot get your 
touch sequence to work all you have to do to reset your security settings is enter in the “Reset Code” that you have into the text box on this page.
The interface of the app itself is much like other file sharing apps that I have seen in the past. By default you have three different folders: 
“Images,” “Video,” and “Text.” You can modify these folders or add files or folders to the main folder by touching the button in the upper left corner.
Adding pictures and video can be done from the media in your camera roll, or you can also upload media from your computer via a simple web browser interface. You can also upload a variety of different types of documents to the app as well. The app supports all the formats you would expect from PDF and DOC files to just plain text. Unfortunately the only types of documents that you can edit within this app are paling text files.
The speed and ease of use are what really separate iDiscrete from a lot of other apps like it. It’s creative use of a “Loading” screen to log in to the app will also keep a lot of people from even attempting to gain access to this app. It also helps make logging into the app much quicker that other more traditional methods, as you’ll see in the embedded video below.
Whether you have personal reasons for keeping certain things safe on your phone, or you have professional interest in documents that you need to have on you all of the time, iDiscrete is a great solution! That, coupled with the fact that it’s available for just $1.99 will make this app a real must have for a lot of people. So what are you waiting for? One of the most difficult things about budgeting is attempting to figure out what you can afford going into the future. Of course there will always be unexpected things that come up, but if you want an overview of how much money you have coming in and going out regularly, you might want to check the free Bills and Balance Forecasting app by Paul Chitoiu!
The first thing you’ll see when you open this app is the “Money” screen. It’s here that you’ll enter in all of your expenses and income. To get started all you have to do is touch the “Add” 
button in the upper right corner of the screen. The interface for adding items is pretty basic, but at the same time has plenty of options to set up weekly, biweekly, monthly yearly and even “Custom” intervals for them.
As you’re adding all of your financial information you can delete items if you need to in two different ways. You can use the “swipe” delete method like in the mail app, or you can touch the “Edit” button in the upper left corner on then delete using the “-” icons on the left side.
Once you get all of your information entered in there are two ways to view your financial future. If you touch the “Forecast” at the bottom of the screen you’ll see a list of all of your expenses and income that are coming up for the next couple of months. You’ll see the date, name, amount and then total balance after each transaction in the list. The second way is to touch the “Calender” button which will bring up a calendar with the balances after each day there is a transaction.
To edit an individual transaction all you have to do is touch it and it will bring up a screen where you can change the date and/or amount. You can also use this app to 
keep track of which bills have been paid and which ones haven’t. To mark a bill as “paid” all you have to do is go to the “Forecast” screen and use the same “swipe” to delete method.
Something important to note is that this free version of the app will only allow you to enter 6 transactions right now. While you can enable unlimited transactions through in-app purchases for just $0.99, it will be enabled for 
free with the addition of “iAds” once iOS 4.0 is released. The app also has “Push Reminders” to let you know when your bills are due that can be enabled for $0.99. Again, this feature will also be enabled in iOS 4 for free.
There are a few other options that will allow you to import and export financial information, as well as set a passcode so that no one else can get access to your private information. These options and more are under the “More” tab in the bottom right corner of the screen.
While a lot of financial apps make things really complicated by trying to balance everything with your account, Bill and Balance Forecasting has come up with a format that is easy to use and to follow! I was impressed with how simple it was to enter in my information and quickly get an idea of what my financial situation is going forward. If you are constantly on the go and looking for a great way to manage your financial future, you should definitely give this app a look. You won’t be disappointed!

Review – “A unique combination of action and music games!”
This is a game that is a little bit hard to describe at first. It has a feel kind of like the Guitar Hero genre of gaming, but instead of playing guitar you’re destroying the “invaders” to music. The result of this combination makes this game fast-paced and exciting to watch as well as play!
When you open up Tap Invaders for the first time you’ll be prompted to either sign into your OpenFeint account or to create a new one. In case you’re unfamiliar with it, OpenFeint is a 
social gaming network that allows you to compete with other people around the world, as well as make friends and enemies!
Once you get past the initial OpenFeint login screen, the first thing you’ll see is the main menu. The menu is nothing flashy, just a simple background with some basic options to get you started. You can set a few basic “Options” by touching the menu option at the bottom of the screen. 
You’ll find sliders to control the music and sound effects volume independently, as well as a brief description of the in-game screen.
Once you’re ready to get started playing there are three difficulties that you can select from the menu, “easy,” “medium,” and “hard.” While you can’t really “fail” this game like you can in Guitar Hero, I would definitely recommend that you start your first game on Easy because there is a significant amount of difference in difficulty!
the main gameplay screen consists of three buttons at the bottom with targets above them. touching any of these buttons will fire a projectile at the target above that button. The object of the game is to time it so that you shoot the ships that fall from above. this is easier said than done!
As you play you’ll quickly find that the two buttons on the outside fire projectiles that move slower, but have a longer range. The center button fires a laser looking beam that moves very quickly but just barely makes it to the target. The difference in timing between these is not overly complicated, but at the same time it definitely makes it more difficult!
Overall the fast-paced action in this game will make it worth it for some people, but not for everyone. With only 3 levels the replay value of this game is not great, but it does offer the online leader board powered by OpenFeint and a smooth gameplay experience. Even though this app could use some more levels, I’d encourage you to check out the embedded video and see for yourself that this app is worth the $0.99 price tag!

This is the kind of app that I really just never expected! With all of the fun entertainment apps, and all of the games that are released everyday, this one is such a simple concept that just shouldn’t be as much
fun as it is! Smiteeth is an app that has a variety of different “teeth” to choose from. By placing your device in front of your face, with a mouth selected you can makes some pretty funny faces!
The app itself is extremely simple and it loads very fast! Once you open up 
Smiteeth, the first thing you’ll need to do is select your skin color. While it is nice that you can set the skin color, It would be nice if there were a few other colors to choose from. I’m a very white man, but even I’m not as white as the white in this app!
Once you select a skin tone you’ll be taken to a screen full of thumbnails of different mouths. Some of the mouths are pretty simple smiles, but there is definitely plenty of variety! Touching any of the mouths will bring it up full screen. From here you can either touch the screen again to go back to the overview, or you can “swipe” left and right to look through the mouths as well!
I could go on, but the fact is that this app is simple, and it just works! Especially if you’re really into gag’s I would recommend this app. I don’t think you would have any problems surprising people with some of the available faces within this app! I’ve seen a lot of creative strategy games on the iPhone 
platform. What separates this one from a lot of its competition is that it has a very unique concept. Jigsaw Live allows you to literally put together a puzzle that has its “picture” being updated live by using your iPhone’s Camera! Before I get too far into this review, it’s important to know that this app will only work with the iPhone 3GS due to performance limitations!
The load time for this game is pretty good, and the menu’s are extremely simple. In just a few quick seconds you can easily get a new game started. There are several options from the menu to adjust the difficulty. You can play on anything from a “2×2″ grid, all the way up to a “10×10″ grid of 
squares! This game can easily challenge someone that loves spending time putting together puzzles, and at the same time be adjusted so that even small children can play!
Once you select a difficulty level and a “shape” for your pieces you’re ready to get started so just touch the “Play” button. The main game play screen starts out with the pieces put together in the middle. To get started just shake your iPhone and all of the pieces will be scattered out. Putting them together is as simple as touching and dragging them around the screen. When you find pieces that fit together they will “snap” and stay together until you finish the puzzle that you’re working on!
At the bottom of the screen is a simple menu with a few options. You can choose to get a “Hint” if you’re totally stumped. What this does is highlight two squares that go together somehow. It doesn’t tell you how they go together, but it’s not all that hard to figure it out usually!
Probably the coolest option in the menu at the bottom is the “freeze” option. While it is definitely cool to work on a “live” puzzle, the freeze feature allows you to find something you’d like to use as a puzzle and set it as the puzzle background! It’s this feature that truly makes this game endless, because you can literally create new puzzles out of anything in just a few seconds!
I could ramble on about this app, but the fact is that it is really just short and sweet! Again, if you’re looking at this app it will only work on the iPhone 3GS, so make sure you keep that in mind! If you love puzzles, I think that you’ll find this game very hard to pass up, and best of all it’s only $0.99. So what are you waiting for? Check it out in the App Store today!

Whether you’re an experienced casino-goer, or just someone that wants to learn the strategy behind the game of blackjack, Gesture 21 has a little bit for everyone! The idea of Gesture 21 was to make blackjack more intuitive to play on the iPhone OS. The develops have accomplished just this through the use of a variety of different gestures to represent different actions that you want to take.
The game
loads extremely quickly and you are presented with a very simple menu with just a few options. You can view your statistics, resume or start a new game and view some basic information about the 
developers. Unfortunately you can only have one game going at a time, it does prompt you though if you choose to start a new game before erasing your old game data.
Once you get to 
the main gameplay screen you’ll see how much money you have at your disposal in the lower left corner. In the bottom right corner are several different values of chips that you can touch in any combination to place your bet. To erase your bet and start over all you have to do is “swipe” anywhere on the screen.
Once you’ve placed your bet and you’re ready to play all you have to do is touch the screen anywhere. The cards will be dealt and then you will have several options based on the cards you have. You’ll find simple, easy to use 
gestures for performing a “Double Down,” “Split,” “Hit,” “Stand,” and even for buying “insurance” to protect you against the computer possibly having a blackjack.
While the gesture system does make gameplay smooth, the true beauty of this app is its in depth customization. There are a variety of options that will make any serious casino-goer happy. You can set exactly how the “house” will play, whether or not to use “strategy guides,” or even if you want the game to display card counting information with a variety of different styles to choose from. While there seems to be a lot of help for most things, something I did notice is that some of these rules could probably have used a little bit of explanation for the novice user.
As far as help on actual gameplay goes, there are plenty of prompts in-game that teach you how to perform different actions as you play. There is also the option to view all of these gestures and how to use them from the “Help” menu option. Not only will it describe them to you, but also give you the opportunity to see a simple animation demonstrating how to use them as well.
Overall this app is both extremely simple to use, and also a lot of fun as well. It would be extremely nice to see the developer add some social elements and/or some kind of achievement structure into the game. With that said, for just $0.99 it’s going to be hard to find another blackjack app that plays as well as this one does. Whether you’re an experienced gambler, or just a novice that likes casino games, there is a little bit for everyone in Gesture 21. So what are you waiting for?
