Apple quietly reveals info on iPhone 4 at WWDC

Apple quietly reveals info on iPhone 4 at WWDC is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

There have been several reports online recently(1, 2) that Apple confirmed the fact that the new iPhone 4 has 512MB of RAM, which is double the amount found in the iPad and in the iPhone 3GS. Up to this point there had been rumors, but many people believed that the new phone would have the same amount of memory as it’s predecessor.

Apparently several journalists have actually tracked down and confirmed that Apple did in fact tell developers that the new phone has 512MB of RAM. Many people have complained that the iPhone 3G is perfectly capable of multitasking, but the chart below illustrates the significant difference in RAM from the 3G to the new iPhone 4.

Not only does this show us that the newer devices have included more memory to support future features like multitasking, but it also shows us a possible reason that the new “iMovie” app will work only on the iPhone 4 and not on the iPad.

I don’t know about you, but knowing that the new phone has double the memory makes me even more excited about getting one! While I’m sure multitasking on the 3GS is going to be great as well, just imagine how it will work with twice the memory!

I’d love to hear your thoughts. What feature(s) are you most excited about the iPhone 4? Or are you disappointed in what Apple has amounced? Leave your comments below, or email me your comments/questions at david@appshouter.com!

Live Coverage of the 2010 WWDC Keynote with Steve Jobs

Live Coverage of the 2010 WWDC Keynote with Steve Jobs is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

I for one can’t wait to see what Steve and the folks at Apple have up their sleeves this year! A new iPhone? iPhone 4.0’s release details? iTunes in the cloud? There are all kinds of rumors out there, but we’ll all find out very soon!

If you’re the impatient type, you’ll quickly find out that Apple doesn’t allow a live stream of the event. With that said, there are plenty of tech websites that do a dedicated live-blog with photos. The event start time is as follows in the various time zones around the world

7am – Hawaii
10am – Pacific
11am – Mountain
12pm – Central
1pm – Eastern
6pm – London
7pm – Paris
9pm – Moscow
2am – Tokyo (June 8th)

Now as far as places to follow the event live I’ve compiled a list of sites that I’ve found to have some of the best coverage in years past. While this is obviously not an all-inclusive list, there are plenty of good options here that I’ve used personally in the past!

Engadget
GDGT
MacRumorsLive
SlashGear
Ars Technica
Mac World
Gizmodo
TheAppleBlog

So now that you’ve got all your live-blogs queued up and ready, what announcement are you looking forward to the most today? Whatever it may be I’d encourage you to leave a comment with your thoughts on the upcoming Keynote!

Apple (finally) Announces WWDC Dates

Apple (finally) Announces WWDC Dates is a post from: Best Iphone Apps Review Website

Picture 5Just 40 days before the start of WWDC, Apple has finally announced the dates for WWDC, their annual developer conference. And there are some major changes this year.

WWDC will be held in San Francisco, at Moscone Convention Center West from June 7th-11th. The ticket price has risen this year to $1599 and are available through the Apple Developer portal.

The big changes this year are a definite slant toward the iPhone OS and the iPhone/iPad devices. Last year, sessions were split between Mac OS, Enterprise IT and iPhone OS sessions. This year there’s nothing but iPhone OS. Though a few of the sessions do apply to Enterprise IT, they are iPhone focused.
