REVIEW – “A creative puzzle game with lots of replay value!”

Whether you are a hardcore puzzle gamer, or if you are just looking for a diversion Aztec Quest will keep you entertained for hours! This game is a little bit hard to explain, but the basic concept is that you have to use various objects to get a ball to bounce into a diamond. Once you think you have all of your items set right you just hit “start” and see what happens!

I was surprised when I opened this game to see how quickly it loaded up. The menu is very nice looking, and there are just a couple of quick splash screens. By default there is music in the background of both the menu and during gameplay. If you get tired of it you can turn it off in the “Options” menu, or you can listen to some of your own iPod tracks while you play!

If you would like to get detailed directions on how everything works in this game there is an “Instructions” option in the main menu, but I would recommend that you just get started with the “Play” button. Once you touch “Play” you will be given three different options: “Internal Levels,” “Create your own level,” and “Online levels.” One of the best features of Aztec Quest is the fact that it is offers virtually endless replay value. Even once you have finished all of the “Internal Levels,” you will find tons of user created levels as well as a level creator!

The first few levels are very simple and are basically to show you how different objects work. While the main function of most objects is fairly obvious, these first few levels will help teach you to think outside the box. Once you select the level that you want to play there is a brief loading message and then you are taken to the main gameplay screen. The first time you open a level you will see an outline of where everything is until you touch the screen to get started.

Gameplay consists of you touching and dragging items onto the empty squares. In order to finish a level you need to not only get the ball to hit the diamond, but you have to do it the way that the level designer intended. This means that you need to use all of the items that you are given, and not take shortcuts to finish.

While the included levels are a lot of fun, my favorite feature of this game is the ability to download the creations of other users and attempt to solve them. The interface for this is very good and the levels all download very quickly. From the “Online Levels” screen you will see a “Filter” button in the bottom left corner. This will allow you to quickly and easily find the types of levels that you would like to solve. There is also a rating system to help you find levels that the majority of people enjoyed.

Overall this game is definitely a winner. I would encourage you to at the very least try the free version of it! I think if you give it a chance you will quickly find that this game is worth a lot more than the paltry $0.99 that it will set you back. So what are you waiting for?
