REVIEW – “View your photos on your TV wirelessly!”

This is an app that I will definitely file in the “has HUGE potential” pile. If you’ve ever wanted to view photos that you’ve taken on the TV in your living room , without cables of any kind, this is the app for you! iMediaShare is an app that will allow you to set up your iPhone and/or iPod Touch as a “server” that will allow you to view photos from your device directly from your PS3 or Xbox 360!

You will need two things in order for this app to work: (1) Wifi access and (2) either an Xbox 360 or a PS3 that is connected to the same wifi as your device. The interface of this app is extremely simple. When you open up the app you are taken to the “Server Status” screen. From here you can see whether or not you have an available Wifi hotspot and you can turn the “server” on and off.

In order to share images you will need to go and add them to your list of “shared images.” You can do this by touching the button in the bottom right corner, selecting the folder on your device where the images are, and then selecting all of the images you would like to add. Once this is ready all you have to do is turn on your PS3 or Xbox and connect to your device’s “picture server.” It will be called “iMediaShare.”

I tested it several times on my Xbox and it worked extremely well each time. The server seems to be very responsive and I didn’t have any problems with it disconnecting on me. There are a few things that it does lack though. It would be nice if you could also stream videos and/or audio files. At this time it is only pictures that will actually work. It also would have been nice to be able to select multiple photos at once by using an interface similar to what is in the “Messages” app.

If you are a picture fanatic, and you have a PS3 or Xbox 360, this is simply a must have app. It has never been easier to show off your photos to a group of people on your TV at home. If you still have doubts, at least give this app a shot. There is virtually no setup, it just works, and it’s free! So what are you waiting for? Check it out today!!
